It's a nice model. No idea how many banner bearers you would take these days, but I can appreciate that there is a second banner build.

I mean, depends on your budget (in terms of how much you want to pay for things that you end up using half of), but I could easily see me using this as a base to make a Blood Angels version.

Bowl cuts and peanut heads!

Terrible art. It's almost AI bad quality. The whole centerpiece Templar looks both incomplete and not Space Marine enough.
The only thing that confirms he's wearing Space Marine armor is the ribbing in the joints.
He has a tilt shield on the left shoulder pad, and a second on his chest that is about to pierce his underarm when that strike comes down.
Also, WTF weapon is he using? The handle is at least 4 hands long that we can see.
And Bowl Cut?
Why is Will from Stranger Things being used as a reference model?
Not to mention he's firing lefty. Pretty sure that falls under Heresy for BT.

looking at the rules text of 3rd Edition Horus Heresy that are almost AI bad, there might be something up here
the armor very much looks like a generic mix of GW and non-GW patterns like you expect from AI, the very same way the rules text read like the "many word without content" AI would do.

Ahktually, its not even that convincing, at least emperors children are a different codex, this is literally an alternate entry for the space marines codex it shares with all the others.

I'd add that the Crozius Arcanum in the back looks like a spade because it's very thin and 2D.

Ancients are awesome, and this one goes in a lot different direction than a lot of the existing ones.

We need more ancients, not less. Tank Commander with a standard for IG. Uprising Icon-bearers for Genestealer cults. Iconbearers for Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, Undivided Heretic Astartes. Bring back Waaagh Banner Nobz. Dynastic Glyph Projectors for Necrons. Kroot Trophy Pole. Mechanicum Datalink Antennae.

To be fair the article says BT are coming "later this year" which implies they arent the next book out.

Yeah, that BT cover is very meh, not just because the proportions look off but even the centering of the placement of the different marines gives it too much empty space where there isn't really anything happening or contrasting to the main figure in the center. Definitely a far cry from the badass OG Black Templar codex art from 4th edition.

The armour from the bt is knights armour and not powerarmour and his head is very disturbing. maybe its the taint of chaos.

The chaplain in the background also has his crozius in his right hand... Maybe the art has been flipped, which would explain the tilt shield siding and bolter hand?

It's not a great art piece, but it's absolutely not AI generated.

It is not just not great, there are so many mistakes in there that either the person doing it had never seen anything of Black Templar before and never draw a human body figure before

Might not be AI, might just be 3 different picture's merged together for the central Marine and another 4 pictures to create the stuff around

Aye, I don't want to stick the boot in on the artist too much - though whoever approves these things may deserve it - but I've got to say that this is the worst piece of Codex (or Codex Supplement) cover art this edition.

Would anyone dispute that?

Makes me wonder if it was adapted from say, Bretonnian art? Reusing an existing initial sketch type thing.

The central figure is actually fairly anatomically correct from the waist up, in a way that Space Marines generally aren't because of the armour design.

And the image is consistent across the board, there's no collaging happening here.

Pretty sure it's the same artist who did the previous big BT image (the army box one I think?) where the centrepiece marine had a giraffe neck.
