I'm thinking about getting my Eldar & Sisters up and running again for 10th, or at least Kill Team, but after a really bad experience with some Warp Spiders back in 7th I will not deal with Finecast Resin models ever again.

Are they still using it in models? It's not clear from the new packaging & a lot of the kits I've seen on tutorials etc. appear to be plastic, but I can't put it past GW to use this gakky resin & not advertise it on the box. I'm most interested in model lines related to Aeldari & Sisters (from what I recall all Aspect Warriors were Finecast at one stage) but if they're slipping it in anywhere else I'd like to know too, so I can never buy them.

Thanks!

Most Finecast kits are gone. Sisters got a huge new plastic range recently and the only resin/metal kits will be the older Priest models.
Most of the Aspect Warriors for Craftworlds are now plastic as well.

Fire Dragons, Warp Spiders, and Swooping Hawks are still resin. They've shown off plastic Striking Scorpions, but they'll be bundled in a Kill Team two-player kit at launch, so actually getting ahold of them will take a while.

Plastic Aspects are kind of expected to be finished off this edition.

9th brought a pretty major range refresh for Eldar, but Finecast still remains, such as Rangers, the above mentioned Aspects and the odd special character. Oh and most of the Phoenix Lords, with only Jain Zar and Maugan Ra being in plastic right now.

No, wait. Rangers are plastic now as well. Forgot about the new kit.

How are finecast models shown on the new Warhammer.com site?

It will be written in the description of the model on its page. So you'll get a blurb about what's included and then it will say the base size included, what models are and what material.

If it doesn't state a material then its plastic.
If it says resin with 15+ on the page then that's Forgeworld regular resin and NOT FINECAST

Its gonna be written in the description (might need to click "read more" beacuse its a terrible website design) as " a finely detailed resin cast kit"

Honestly, with the advent of 3D resin printing over the past few years, fine cast is really an old technology. There may be a few out there, but it appears that GW is moving to an all plastic lineup. Overread has it right in what to look for.

Thanks for the replies! Happy to hear Finecast is on the way out, it was just awful to work with & just a really bad idea, I had to return & replace my Warp Spiders 4 times. The ones I stuck with (because I didn't want to go back again to GW lol) had bubbles on so many details, so much needed to be filled or polished down & the details that survive are not very crisp, I had to freehand my Exarch's eyes because the cast ones were too sunken to show through a thin base coat. Just a horrible material & metal was so much better.

Sad to hear that some Aspect Warriors are still using it, hopefully that goes away soon.

I think I will go Kill Team until all the Aspects are plastic, just in case I accidentally buy this gak resin again lol. It also means I can build up my small collections of other minis & bring back my metal Sisters & Kasrkins so hopefully there are no Guard models in this Finecast crap.

Thanks again!

Slight correction to what Grotsnik said -- Rangers are in plastic.

The thing about 40k is that no one person can grasp the fullness of it.
