They released an article in the Facebook group today linking to their blog. How units and basing work for infantry is rather interesting. Pretty versatile for those with random collections.

Interesting article, but quite vague as to the actual effects of specializing your units...

Interesting, 3*3 is a bigger footprint than other systems. I trust the author is a good designer, since he did Baron's war.

Pity I have no FB account.

Still waiting on the Damned campaign. This originally started on June 2023. Wouldnt usually mind the long waits, but the lack of comunication from WGA is getting a bit frustrating. Sure we could get even a little update?

The last update was 3 weeks ago, how often do you need them?

True, but the last update said "The first of the Mauler molds are due to be complete any day with the others to follow imminently. As soon as I have photo's of the sprues I will post them in an update." So I was hoping we would have gotten some pics by now. I think overall the communication has been good though.

It's their first propper vehicle. I'd rather they do a propper job than a rush job.

I backed the Damned campaign too, so while I would love it to hurry up, I'm having trouble being annoyed since they have pulled in the Baron's War game especially with this new starter coming.

agreed. especially since they've got two others ones with estimated T1 dates listed as in a couple months (the Quar tanks), which i doubt they'd have started without the experience of the mauler kit. at least the quar tanks are smaller and have less options, so might be easier to arrange on a sprue.

And don't forget the vehicle was scrapped and remade from scratch because so many people hated the design. That probably adds a day or two eh?

They've got to get a working test shot and a vehicle with lots of large flat panels will fill very differently from a sprue of lots of small bits

so it wouldn't surprise me if it's going to take a few reworks of the sprue gates/fill points which will send the mould back to tooling (on GW sprues the number of dots indicates how many times it's been adjusted to get it to work, the spoilered example has 3, some have a lot more)

Never understood why it takes them so many tries to get their frames right. Most of our frames are final on T1 (i.e. the first test shot). Sometimes they go back for a gate adjustment or additional ejection pin added to facilitate fill/operation so that would be T2. I think of the 90+ frames we've done we've had to go beyond T2 maybe 4 times? It could be down to the fact that they insist on using those half-hexagon runners which aren't great for plastic flow - round cylinders are always much better. I think the new IG frame has 9-10 of those little dots!?

Likely because they are making stuff way OTT. Thankfully you guys make models to be used in gaming first rather than display painting.

You would think but there's really no difference. The key things about what we and GW do is that it's actually some of the most complex tooling in the world and not something most plastic companies can achieve.

The reason for that is it combines several unique things on one frame: 1. organic shapes, 2. small detail parts, 3. mixed sized parts, and 4. a LOT of parts.

Most tooling is focused on multiples of the same part on one mold that allows for more consistent fill, atmosphere in the mold, etc.

So the great irony is that our little plastic toys are some of the hardest and most expensive plastic molds to engineer.

Excite about modern survivors!

Any idea whether they are GW / Death Fields scale, or short-arse historical / Frost-(or star-)grave alikes? Would really like some larger civilian / irregulars. Project Z survivors are too specific to have more than a couple of each figure without them being obvious clones.

Historical 28mm size as they exist in the same range as the Zombies, Modern Operators, and some others we'll be announcing next week.

Great news about you getting the RGD minis sorted, I'm glad they'll be around. I think it makes sense to go for Satyrs in the first round as they're the ones RGD learned all the lessons for, but hopefully you'll be able to sort out some of the quirks on the fauns, scythians, and amazons too. They were great in concept and mostly good in execution.

Also looking forward to the Warring States stuff and more Quar, but you've lots of fans with lots of interests so I will try to be patient.

Unrelated, but is there anything you can say about the early 1900s Japanese set?

There are so many possibilities.

I hope they're not too far away.

Greetings Wargames Atlantic,

We are so excited for the release of Classic Fantasy Battles! can you give us some indication, however, of what variety of troops, warmachines, creatures, heros, monsters, etc. will be manufactured and present in the game? My friends and I are hesitant to purchase these new armies until we know that the game will have enough official Wargames Atlantic models for us to enjoy a truly epic scale, varied experience. Can you comment on this at all this early?

Damn I'm not on FB!!!

I will also join the petition. I felt a bit sad when I saw there were no warmachines nor artillery on the dwarf sprue...
