Indeed, and a very good experience it was, too! It's just if the tariff situation intensifies and whatever rules that are deployed includes miniatures manufactured in the USA but not in the UK, it'd personally be helpful for me if WA made stuff in the UK.

EXTREMELY minor element of a much more complicated issue that has far reaching serious consequences, but I do just like the stuff WA makes.

We are in the process of finding a partner to handle injection in the UK and the first mold bases are being built now for that purpose. Early days, but I suspect later this year you will see boxes in the UK, Canada, Australia, and the EU that say MADE IN THE UK on the bottoms.

Re: Shattered Union. Not everyone's cup of tea but we believe we have a formula for making a very fun, inclusive game that will allow players to be as "real" or as tongue-in-cheek as they would like!

Absolutely, it's a great generic kit to have. When the zombies/aliens/whatever attack it'll be the cops who respond.

Alternately they can be evil oppressors running for the heroes.

Very useful and no one makes them in plastic.

EDIT or did you mean the Shattered Union game in general? Even if you don't want to play it the kits sound useful for all sorts of games.

Response to Shattered Union is remarkable. The game will have units of 4-12 miniatures with 6-10 units per side. Unique factions - what are called "Murders" in the game will be many and diverse. Some Core sets (Civilians/Survivors, Operators, Agents, Police) will be available to any player to add to or customize their Murder. Andy Hobday is playtesting the rules now. No dates for release yet although the generic sets will be out as part of our Pulp Adventure range over the next few months.

Classic Fantasy Battles is also moving along at a rapid pace in preparation for the launch of the two player game later this year.

This is a very good thing for players of zombie and post-apoc gaming. There used to be a number of affordable sets like this available from Wargames Factory, but when Warlord Games acquired the molds, the price went up 3-4 hundred percent on a per-figures basis.

I realize that some folks might find that the theme hits a bit too close to home given current events (and I completely respect this), but remember that post-nuclear-apocalypse fiction, games and miniatures were coming out during the last decade of the cold war also....

Personally, I keep my apocalypse gaming firmly rooted in zanyness, Mad-Max and zombie movies -and I've got a ton of applicable minis- but I still might find a use for some of these.

Good news on the space nam! I had been waiting for the heavy weapons to be available before buying any of the infantry, as they're fairly key option to have imo. Just to clarify then, you're doing the existing heavy weapons in plastic as expected and his comments were specifically about designing any new / further options for the foreseeable future?

Shattered Union is an, um, interesting choice. Not sure the concept would personally appeal into todays climate, but the range of kits that are coming will definitely have a lot of other uses which will be handy. I'd be curious to see whether it's something that ends up doing better in the US or in UK/Europe...!

Ugh seeing the political news, I wish WGA could get the pewter molds for Baron's War into the US.

I don't know what this means? Are you talking about Footsore Miniatures' molds? We have nothing to do with those. They are their own company. If you mean the molds to make plastic they are already in the US...and soon to be in the UK as well.

Yes, I was referring to the Footsore molds. As is I'm afraid I would be hit with a huge tariff for the Outremer models if I ordered now since they are in the UK

Well you could just wait for the Outremer plastics!

Why not both? Seriously I love WGA plastics but sometimes painting metal scratches a different itch and I think it's only fair to throw something at Footsore since they helped get Baron's War off the ground.

Question for WGA. What is the design decision behind combined torso/leg bodies? It is rare for plastic minis to be split into torso and leg units which does give the consumer move customization options. The ones I have are the old Human Mercenaries from Mordheim and the Maelstrom's Edge figures, namely The Broken and the Epirian Corporation.

Your kits have one piece bodies as do Northstar, which are the kits I've been buying for the last few years. Now I could see that adding more separate elements complicates sprue layout and flow. For instance, a basic The Broken infantry squad of six comes on four sprues, though one is the weapon sprue and has no body parts. That would be just two sprues for your original Grognards kit, or 1 and a half for your later kits like the Raumjager or Bulldogs. So it's an added expense for Maelstrom's Edge.

This is not a complaint, but just curiosity.

Shattered Union reminds me of a more modern and US-base version of A Very British Civil War. That was a fictional UK-based civil war in the UK just before WWII.

It depends on the set - for example the upcoming Expanse Crew set has split toros/legs.

But in general it comes down to a few considerations. These are the reasons I generally don't have split ones:

1. It doesn't add anything - for example if it's a WW2 soldier in a uniform probably not as they all dress the same and mixing and matching does nothing for variety.
2. It lets people make stupid poses that are too twisted from one side or the other and ultimately the figure looks bad
3. Most "normal" movement poses can be achieved in a few one piece bodies (see #2)
4. It more than doubles the parts on the frame and in plastic tooling you need at least 5mm around each part and then xmm between parts - so you're just eating up frame space that could be used for other parts
5. It complicates assembly - yes, sounds dumb but there are many people who don't like the assembly part of making plastic figures so they complain if there are more parts

Anyway, there are probably things I'm forgetting but those are the ones that come to mind .

While I'm here - BW2 on sale tomorrow! Quar Command boxes on sale tomorrow! More on Classic Fantasy Battles next week! Maybe some sneak peeks of more Shattered Union soon. And we're working on some VSF! Also a ton of other stuff. Like usual.

I'd say this is applicable to hobbyists of all varieties, not just those who hate assembly. I love the building and kitbashing part of miniatures the most but there are so many old plastic kits where in order to facilitate ball joints or domed torso connection they had to split a body into front torso - back torso - legs.

That's 2-3x the sprue gates you need to clean and a much higher chance that over time the mold will wear away causing mold slips and gaps in the finished assembly. It honestly just becomes a hassle past the first few figures.

Super excited to be getting a copy of Baron's War 2nd Edition for my birthday later this month. I didn't see anywhere how 2E works with the expansions, will those books also need to be updated to be compatible? I really want to get Death and Taxes and do Robin Hood scenarios.

On facebook they've said

Are either of the two original expansion periods (Viking et al and Outremer) covered in the new rule book, please?

no, they are not. The second edition is a second edition of the original rulebook. We will be issuing a free bridging PDF so you can use the current supplements until they are replaced.

I'm hoping for some Christi Militi Monks as well since the Outremer teaser.

I'm so stoked for The Baron's war 2nd E, a friend wants to try it. That's enough right there for me to buy and paint. I love this time period.

Still waiting for my 10mm orc horde to ship from back east, wish I could paint that this weekend. So much good stuff. A nice dilemma to have.

I’ve never seen, let alone tried, tried Baron’ War. About what is range of the model count for a typical battle? And size of the table for such a battle?

Very much looking forward to more 10mm armies from WA. The Japanese are awesome.

I'd love to see the warband formation rules and start list building. I have a big batch of Perry knights based and ready for use in a couple games.

A 500 point starter force would average around 25 models and the standard table size is 4' x 3' but you can scale that up if you have more miniatures.

If you look for 7th Son on Youtube he has recently done an unboxing of the new 2nd Edition box and includes a quick look at the Getting Stared guide which features two starter lists for the figures in the box.

Yup, I really like that.

Hoping there's a panel to close up the hole if you don't want the front gun, but would be an easy enough fix if not.
