Solar A are awesome, love the sentinel especially. Waiting for that axe regiment they have and ogryns.
They did suffer from a transition to plastic from resin though, kind of like DKoK - they look a bit more chunky, which is a shame.

Kroot are cool, hope they get separate hounds as well, and maybe vespids get some love.

Warcry elves are gak.
Undead - pretty cool. Some minis better than others (flame effects on more traditional wraith sculpts are a bit lackluster, but pretty great nonetheless)

Mandrakes - never liked the design, so not my cup of tea, but they have improved quite a lot.

Necro warband and a set of characters I like- mordheim awaits, some can be used straight out of the box, others will make good conversion fodder.

DoK character I don’t like- took me a while to realise what army she belongs to, but maybe I’m just not keen on that enormous hair mop.

All in all a win in my book. But im looking forward even more to a ToW reveal tomorrow.

Some great reveals!

Nothing I'd grab from the 40k/30k side of things, I love the Night Lords and Solar Auxilia, but I know I'd never get around to painting them.

But aside from the Warcry set (It has the usual problem where I really like a couple of the minis on each team, but overall they're just too samey), I want all the AOS stuff.

I do feel that the soul of the army, carnivores are a bit of a let down if you compare them with kits like the Farstalker kin band.

They are oddly unadorned, to the point of looking proper nekkid. The rest of the Kroot stuff is utterly fantastic though.

Krethusa is one of the most interesting models I've seen in a long time and hope to pick her up at little later in the year. She has that stygian witches vibe to her.

The Saviours of Cinderfall look like they're going on an adventure. More at home in Quest, Underworlds or at a stretch Warcry.

Zondara's Gravebreakers are good for what they are. Only interested in the wolf chap.

Kill Team box is cool, but the Mandrakes look like they belong in AOS as Sylvaneth units.

Warcry box is also cool with some of the best looking Lumineth models, but it would be nice to see a larger brute for Nighthaunt. Surely Ogors and Giants would end up as ghosts?

Kroots...hmmm. Yet another "army" that belongs in a game of small battles - not the pushy "2000 points or nothing" battles of 40K, but are awkwardly bundled in with a larger army and breaking the overall theme. Being honest, its like a pitch for Predator vs Robojox.

Solar Aux are far too late to the 30K party and, along with Assault marines, should have been given the highest priority for it's launch. At this point are we really going to turn up with troops weaker than space marines, when so far HH has a reputation for being GW's answer to World of Tanks? On the positive side, that boxset feels like what a standard HH army should be, and the warmasters among us are better off leaving the massive battles to Legions Imperialis. The heavy sentinel is something I'd like to pick up at a later time...

Quite a good show, but its getting to be the same games now at these previews. It would be nice to have the odd boxed game surprise like Space Hulk, a new Quest game or even a 40K version of Underworlds. A HH themed starter set for Aeronautica is also long overdue, or otherwise just let it go and put the effort into something else.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

Wow what a packed show after all!

Kill Team box of greatness

Warcry box of mediocrity

Kroot box of greatness

Krethusa the Croneseer is fantastic

The Cities group are great sculpts too, albeit these sort of things tend to have annoyingly fiddly rules

Underworlds band pretty nice, tho it's the second time we have a Necromancer and their zombies in a fairly short time

And finally the Solar Aux, also fantastic.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

The size of the Solar Auxilia release is just impressive. Reminiscent of the good ol' days of yore where Gee Dubs would release a whole slew of miniatures before waiting 3-4 months for the next release slot.
The conversion fodder alone for any of the other systems is also plain impressive and I just can't wait to see what the respective 40K, Necromunda & Kill Team communities do with them! Imperial Guard regiments and the Underhive are about to get very interesting indeed!

Mandrakes are nice, really nice in fact but more importantly a (hopeful) step closer to Vect, big barge and the snake bois. (coming to a festival near you!) Please... pretty please!

None of the AoS or Warcry and Underworlds stuff floats my boat this time* around reminding me that Daughters of Khaine are fully in contention as the 'red headed stepchild that lives under the stairs' of AoS now that Flesheaters got a sizable glowup.

Genuinely surprised at the reception that the Crone is getting as well but I've to remind myself of a weird pattern in regards to model appreciation I've come to notice in my time perusing Dakka all these years. What the forum tends to like I do not and vice versa!

Then there are the Kroot. I've been asking for these fellas in every GW questionnaire and feedback survey so feel very validated that all of my hard work has come to fruition.

What's to say? Amazing minis, can't wait to get my mitts on 'em and see the rest of the range. Hoping for a centrepiece model but enjoying all of what's been previewed so far.

Just you wait for the wolf borne, all goblin army for AoS next! I've been grovelling via surveys. It's only a matter of time! Any day now(!)

*Partial lie, the Witch hunters are pretty cool.

Khinerai with FEATHER WINGS!

I'd like to thank myself and all others who took Dark Eldar Shriek feather wings and stuck them on Khinerai models for possibly helping inspire someone at GW to do that!

I really like her as a character model, different and very imposing. A bit scenic but not so huge on the scenic base that she'd be impossible to use. Plus the whole crone thing with the long hair and all is neat. Glad to see DoK getting some character love!

The new Warcry warband I actually like the Lumineth the most, they look like a really neat addition.

Kroot my only crit is that there's no hounds in the boxed set, shame that they didn't get an update along with the rest, unless GW are holding that back for the Codex drop.

Vampire Warband - eh - I have to say whilst GW is doing awesome with the bat/wolfy vampires; the Zombies just always feel like they don't really know what to do with zombies and keep throwing out wildly different approaches each time. Honestly in a way zombies don't even really fit the current Soulblight as a unit; they aren't the efficient marching skeletons; and the Soulblight of the Mortal Realms are more overt and active so hiding in graveyards and summoning the dead to serve them randomly doesn't feel like it fits them. Then again it could just be that a few units like the Corpse Cart still feel a bit ancient/out of place to me.

Good designs on the zombies just "eh" on the integrating

Overall honestly a great set of previews and some really neat models!

Krethusa’s background also opens up some interesting possibilities for the wider Elven background.

With some sliver, however small, of Morai Heg possessing or guiding her, there remains the tantalising possibility of other such prophets, and eventual resurrection of that fallen Pantheon.

There's been some hinting towards something like that, here on Dakka and elsewhere and whether that source is Valrak I can't remember but It's looking good. All fingers and toes crossed!

Love the kroots. Wish the shaper had a more imposing presence or better head but it’s still a great model.

The witch aelf looks great. I doubt this is the last book, since they keep building up Khorgos kul ascending and fighting vandus

Mandrakes are ok. Wasn’t a fan of that shadow effect on the DoK warcry band and it doesn’t look better here

Indifferent on the warcry and underworld models

Solar Auxilia are nice. I’ll wait to see the ogryns

They have been reluctant to just redo FW models and instead have done their own new ones (juvenile Krootox rather than regular Knarlocs), so if there is a large Kroot beast coming I doubt it will be a Great Knarloc.
There also seems to be a bit of a move to diversify the ecosystem of Pech a little too, with some new creatures not being Krootiforms (like the Pech'ra in the Farstalkers kit) and things like the Kroot hounds being closer to standard Kroot as opposed to be a distant relation.

I'm really happy about the cav being on baby Krootox, usually GW invents a new species for each mounted unit and it drives me nuts. Some consistency in world building is good.

They only just got previewed. GW previews tend to work on a roughly 3month basis. So any time in the next 3 months should be when the models get released.

It is not a ''vampire'' warband. There are two lovers, one of them turning into necromancy to help the other. Necromancy is not an exclusive vampire territory.

They've really nailed the feel of exuberance of teenaged gorillas with those rampagers. I thought it was a nice touch as well.

So umm... *cough*... how right was Valrak?

Laughably wrong, like always. All details that were not just trivial unit type guesses GW always puts into these boxes since forever were wrong, like always (see my other post for details). In both solar and kroot boxes. Unless you can show me that command sentinel, ogryn charonites and mounted kroot leader/kroot artillery because I somehow can't spot them?

And funnily enough, I never saw him predicting the actual new stuff we got here, like blind angel seer, or beauty/beast Disney copy-paste (though with household items 'animated' in different way), or anything else that isn't just trivial resin to plastic swap - for some reason, he never does actually impressive, real novel stuff unless he can steal it from other more reliable sources. I wonder why?

And to cap it off, he said new army here will be mechanicum, not solar auxilia, bashing people who said solar auxilia as "too obvious" until enough reliable people confirmed SA and he hastily changed his tune. See here for proof. Oops. Wonder how his blind fanboy brigade will excuse this one?

It sets a difference between the Carnivores, who are basically just Kroot, and Farstalker Kinbands, which are those Kroot who roam independent of their warbands to find genetic goodies to bring back.

Oddly, I think it works on the mandrakes (because they're aiming for a japanese monster aesthetic), but for her, it just looks bland and uncreative because they just did it on the other kit (and the dumb way the hair feeds through the crown)

The kroot are... odd. I like the characters and the cav, but the basic carnivores look like shell-less turtles. Part of that is the paint style, but I'm not really sold on it. Also not sold on whether they'll survive on the battlefield and be useful in an army.

So, odd question on the Solar Auxilia. Does the 30k Leman Russ just... not have sponsons, or are they simply not shown? There is certainly space for them on the hull, but I wondered if this was a 'no cross-compatibility' sacrifice.
