Oh there's strong rumours knocking around that the new Quest is going to be Nurgle vs Cities themed. Apparently Nurgle in general is getting a massive wave this time around.

Depends on how the Nurgle forces look like. I don't like the comically look of much of the ranges ( AoS and 40k) - but if they're more like the Harbinger of Decay, the Warcry guys and with stuff like diseased flagellants and plague zombies it could be good.

Nurgle often gets a lot of good love from GW with models. They aren't my cup of tea either, but Gw really does have some great designs for them.

Nurglites benefit a lot from a fitting paintjob, which is not something they're going to get from the 'Eavy Metal team. I find it's rarely the sculpt itself that makes them look comical but a paintjob aimed at clearly and unambiguously showing every detail of the model.
Gallahad wrote:It would be great if there was a picture of each option for those of us that don’t know every miniature by name. I’m sure there are some great miniatures I don’t remember
Same here. I went with the Archregent because I recognized the name and like the model a lot. Half of the names on the list mean nothing to me and I'm definitely not going to trawl GW's lovely webstore in search for pictures.

Archaon came out in 2014, with the End Times: Archaon book.
Wrong and wrong.
The ET: Archaon book came out in March 2015, and it did not come with a new Archaon model. The current Archaon model came out after AoS was launched.

You are correct. Just dug out the White Dwarfs. Archaon would have come out December 2015, having been announced for pre-order 28 November 2015. That'll teach me for checking my recollection on the internet. I'll correct my previous post.

I dont like the prospect of a quest game that has Nurgle and Cities matchup.
Dont mind the factions at all, but the quest games are better with a themed villain (nurgle) but the questing adventurers should be more uniqe or different models apart from the main factions.
Great opportunity to try out new concepts instead of doing a themed gang of CoS dudes (especially since CoS have been de-diversified from a hotpot of free peoles and races to become human army guys).
Ok, if they do a team of army veterans that go awol to make an unsanctiond raid in to nurgle territory to capture a reserv of chaos dwarf gold I might buy it.

Cities covers a lot of ground though, especially with all of the aelf and duardin options that feel like they should appear in a Quest game. They've not really tackled much of the non-humans who live in the Cities yet, and this seems an ideal situation to expand it out. An Aelf financier and Duardin pub-poet etc

Yeah, I'd love to get one, but can't justify it until I've shifted a lot of back log. Maybe next year.
I just wish I liked the rest of the ghoul range. Ushoran has definite flair and looks like a fallen king, unfortunately the rest of the range lacks a unified aesthetic that makes them believable as knights, footmen and the court of a fallen civilization. I really wish they had more armour, trinkets and iconography that made them read as a unified whole instead of just poking bones anywhere and everywhere.

That's kind of the point. It's how they see themselves, not how everyone else sees them. The bones and gristle being their weapons and armour. Ushoran himself isn't actually insane, or at least no where near to what he presents himself as.

Ushoran's appears as though his armour is badly maintained, but you can see the trappings of what he once was. A unit like the Morbheg knights has lost too many elements that identify them as fallen knights. Its just a matter of personal opinion but I think their design language drifted too far from cannibalistic knight, whereas Ushoran is pitch perfect. If I was a crazy knight I'd wonder where my crazy squire put my armour. I'd also like to have seen some cultural design elements that echo those established by Ushoran's design.
Agreed. The worst things is the noses.

They aren't fallen knights though. They're cannibal lunatics that think they are knights. The only one that was ever actually what his delusion projects is Ushoran, and that was way back in the Old World, before even the fall of Nehekhara in general.

Yeah that's the fun part about the Flesheater Courts - they never were what they imagine themselves to be.
Or at least most aren't, some might well have once been nobles and knights before they were bitten and twisted with the curse

Given that most ghouls are, well, just ghouls, and the large majority, it's not that unlikely that the knights and peers were indeed the higher-ups in the society before they became cannibals (and then that status was inherited). The curse could just have found deranged and fallen societies and just reminded them what they were once - and not created totally new ones.

Not really accurate. There are a few stories and lore snippets of actual literal nobles and knights who fall under the delusion and devolve into cannibalism, etc.
Also a couple of the named characters are mentioned to have been nobles or whatever before the delusion. IIRC Grand Justice Gormayne was actual a legal scholar or whatever before being overtaken by the delusion, hence hes still able to function in role when he has periods of lucidity
Also iirc theres at least one story about a kingdom or society that collapses into the delusion.

Yep the thing is you could have been anything before you were bitten - a serf, slave, trader, noble, knight, bandit, robber, murderer - whatever.
Some will retain some sense of what they were before and it will influence who they become as a ghoul; others might find new strength and rise to the top even though before they were a nobody; similar there are surely some gibbering fools (even by ghoul standards) who were once nobility at the height of power.
All changes after the bite when the delusion sets in.

Agree a 100%
Ushoran is such a great minis,.but the rest of the range is just meh, and doesnt really translate the background.
And aa another poster said, such a fail that they didnt put a pic of all of the choices. No way am I navigating through their horrible website to look at all of them.
As for Nurgle WHQ, bring it on. Just hope that they go for sinister nurgle and not cutie nurgle...
If its the later, it's probably going to be a hard pass for me

Nice boxes - Soulblight one I'm not actually tempted on as I've already got 10 vampire riders and 2 dragons and bats. That said I can see it being very popular very quickly, so probably a good thing for me it might sell out fast and I don't get tempted to a 3rd dragon (technical I need one for the mount+rider option)
