While running out, still some time left. Time to wrap up the procrastination and get to work! Grab some good pics to make sure you have the best angle in good light.

If anyone needs an extension let me know.

I dunno, I might be done in time. It's very hot here at the moment and I have no air conditioning, so painting is a bit of a struggle.

No problem, extension granted. So everyone has until the end of the first. Or more realistically when I’m at my computer early on the 2nd having my coffee before work.

Stay frosty!

Thanks - I was going to ask as well. I have a research paper for a class for my Master's degree due tomorrow. I've been giving myself painting breaks when I achieve progress, but I have to knuckle down and write another ~1500 words. Not going to be much painting in the next 36 hours.

I wonder how long an essay you can write on purity seals? Some models have a lot of real estate. Or for the more chaoticly minded, you could enscribe your thesis on a word bearers land raider or titan.

Academic needs are no excuse to stop painting!

Ahem! Landraider would not fit the theme of foot slogger (though you could probably argue for a titan and have plenty of room for that thesis on the pauldrons )

Sorry, got caught up in the idea for using miniatures as a writing medium. LRs are right out. Titans it is.

I’ve switched my entry. The A-Team is too much to chew in the time crunch. I want to do them the service they deserve, and I am still struggling to figure out the bases and I want it to be good. The only thing I’ve figured out is I’m putting a box of Trash Bags! on Murdock’s base.

I’ll post a proof pic soonish. It’s a bit out of the box, but I think it’s going to work out. I’m not writing my paper on the model, but I am going to put something in there about it. I like the way you think, Nevelon.

Hey Nev, this is looking really good. Is that Scale 75 Decayed Metal you've used on the aquila?

Nope.

Mechanicum standard grey base
Leadbelcher drybrush
Nuln oil wash
Little touchup highlighting with the leadbelcher (sometimes I’ll use a brighter silver if I have it open)

Grey first with a leadbelcher drybrush? Interesting...

I usually paint leadbelcher, then Nuln and then a light leadbelcher drybrush.

I'm gonna have to try your technique just to see the results firsthand, Nevelon.

I have a few ways I do silvers.

Black with silver drybrush, no wash (bolters, guns, marine belts)

Grey/silver drybrush/wash (trooper skulls aqilas, terminator honors)

Silver with wash (eldar infantry weapons, DW arms and shoulderpads)

The results are similar, but a little different. Not sure if I have a model with all 3 teqniques.

I'll tell you a simple metallic that looks good, i was doing some chainmail on Chaos Knight barding and just painted it a dark muddy brown then one light drybrush of Gun-metal. It looks 400x better than it has any right to and chainmail in particular is now a solved issue for me.

Also well shoot looks like i'm going to have to miss this one. I made some decent progress early on but i've been giving basing, weathering and some minor scheme elements a rethink for the force as a whole and don't want to progress the unit past where they are. Also i am waiting on a couple paints/basing products.

Decided to do a last minute entry with a few Hunters from the Bloodborne boardgame.

I have tried to enter these models for a challenge some months / half a year ago. Rather, I did post a proof picture back then, but did not manage to get them done.
So here's another go.

This time I painted the three hunters that only had the primer on and left the two that had some paint on them untouched (and left them out of the final pictures).

Proof from my messy "on the go" setup from our gaming room. The ones I painted are the rightmost three.
Edit: the proof picture is two weeks old (the most keen eyed of you can see the "Centerpiece" entry in the works there). Most of the painting was done during a couple of remote meetings and over the last few nights.

Final pictures.
"Spartans of the Church". The foot soldiers of the Healing Church, fighting against the Beast Scourge on the streets of Yharnam.

I was a bit conflicted with these models.
Bloodborne is maybe my favorite video game of all time, but the details on these were a bit fuzzy at times. Quite fun to paint though!

Well I got 3 of the Heretic Troopers done. Hope you like them. I went for faceless and bright with red colours stereotypical of devils.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Mighty Matilda is here to kick ass and chew gum. Looks like she's all outta gum.

Honestly, I'm just happy I managed to get this painted in time. That was an achievement in itself.

Well done everyone!

So I got one guy done. Better then zero. Lost a week to vacation, and life is up to its tricks again. I put him and his mates together for the prior edition. He was the recon/scout guy. Hence the auspex, pointing out targets, and the phobos shoulderpad.

Anyway, done now.

More flies and moths, though... my fan seems to be keeping them away for the moment, fortunately.

However, I'm a bit stymied. I'm trying to come up with a logo to freehand onto some shields. It's for an Order aligned warband, who I was intending to call the Bloodbound. I was going to just use a bloody handprint style logo, but I've gone off that idea. Thing is, I can't seem to come up with anything else.

The idea behind the warband is that they come from all different factions (though the three I'm painting right now are all freeguild) and are tied together by fate - and possibly some higher power pulling strings. All of the members have had visions of their own deaths while fighting alongside their warband comrades, so they all think they're in this warband just to die at some important time - though some are actively trying to change their fate.

The logo needs to be pretty simple as I need to be able to free hand it quickly. Something to do with blood/fate/death etc.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay, I've given up. If possible, I'd love a second extra day to get them finished, but if not, don't worry, I'll bow out of this month.
