On a positive note it means the next pair-up set is yet to be revealed. Grey Knights vs Harlequins would be sweet.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

It is an odd match up: anti-psyker SoB vs Night Lords (who don't have a psyker) in a Necron tomb (who also don't have psykers).

Great news! The Sisters' anti-psyker ability is 100% effective!

So, new missions combining IttD and open ground zones? I recall seeing this sort of games on Reddit, never played one myself though.

All the new teams shown so far do not interest me, so looks like I'm going to be OK skipping season 2 of KT24

"The larger point though, is that as players, we have more control over what the game looks and feels like than most of us are willing to use in order to solve our own problems"

I mean, it looks kind of that in most of the artworks since the beginning.

Um.. what else is more important? Artillery teams? A Nemesis-Knight sized Exo-armour? Super-heavy tanks?

Okay, I'd like Frateris militia.

Repressor would be top of my list - especially since it could be dual-use as a transport for Arbites as well now that they're in the game.

They did the same thing with the Void Dragon(and to an extent that new named Skaven Warlord). They put some of the digitized rectangles where the part joins would be to better hide the seam. The gaps you're seeing are intentional design choices.

Turning a bad seam into a feature is kinda lazy imo.
It doesn't look good on the Skaven, particularly because it's on organics/cloth.

With the pixelized look on Necrons, it blends in more.
But I still think it's a bad aesthetic choice and excuses flaws in the digital sculptor's abilities.

What I dislike more is the MASSIVE size difference and that they chose to make him more fully humanoid.
The old design had suggestions of legs, and the arm blended into the scythe without needing a hand detailed.
It gave it a more forming out of the shadows look that I really prefer.

Time to find an stl similar to the old design & scale it up

Good news that the Night Lord kit builds both raptors and warp talons though, so that's one old box going away.

Regular Celestians back
Frateris Militia/Zealots back
Crusaders back (although their niche has been stolen)
Non-bondagesportswear Repentia back
Priests with some weapon options back
Death Cult Assassins back

And that's before you get into new units - chapel militant on tracks, Rapier-like light artillery/pavis shield, specialist witch-fynders, an anti-armour vehicle they inherited from the Frateris Templars, a mobile shrine like the Great Cross from Medieval 2...

Interesting updates. Still a little surprised the Night Lords are just going to get a KT army slowly but surely.

To be fair, doesn't look like the Raptors are Night Lord exclusive, just paintjob rather than sculpted detail (probably to fit in with their landbound predecessors in KT lore, I'd assume).

I wonder if EC armies will get full squads of the noise raptor.

We dont entirely know that I dont think. The Kill Team rule limits the warp talon to one per team, whereas raptors are generics with no cap. I think that implies that the box doesnt contain parts needed to build more than one warp talon per kit?

I thought that it was an elite team of Raptors and Warp Talons that were taken from regular units, with only fixed units in the team.

Previous KIll Teams have had parts to make all of a basic unit, with specialist bits for KT - all Kommandos can just be choppa and slugga, all Vespid can be armed with basic weapons, wreckas can all be breakas OR bustas, Arbitrators can all have shotguns or all have shields, Novitiates can all be guns or melee, etc. etc. Looking at this box, there will be bits for talons and raptors, plus the specialist bits, which is why it's only five to a set of sprue. Similarly, I believe the sisters set will be able to make an entire squad with hand flamers or crossbows if one doesn't want the fancy lasses.

Additionally, check the doubled bodies for the specialists; one of each is a talon, and one is a raptor. Must be a spare set of legs for mutie boy...

Why do I look at the articles? I don't play, and the naming conventions are getting so ridiculous the guy from CorpseHammer must be on the payroll now. Look out, guys! It's the MURDERWINGS! And the Insipiants.

Don't think Celestians add much flavour or have a significant role. Frateris Militia - count me in. The Repentia kit is okay, unless you mean the original rogue sister from Inquisitor. Those more esoteric choices are best in a Ministorum retinue, which the Sanctifiers KT is - it should also include the Crusader.

Well, yes, the super-heavy chapel would be cool. The 'witch-fynders' - I suppose that's what the new KT is? And of course there're good ideas for new models, but while I like some they released, I'm not fond of others. At least there're no new Nundams... yet.

The InsiDiants (hard to tell if you guys are just typoing or making a joke about them being insipid), I assume, are an effort to recanonize the old Celestian unit that was removed with the introduction of the Sacrosancts. IE a unit of basically battle sisters, but these actually have some unique weapons and wargear.

Insidiants clearly aren't 'basically battle sisters' - they have super null maces and super stake pistols, and super null-resisting abilities, and super warded armour, and super relic shields (they seem to have forgotten their psy-trackers/psyocculums though).

'Old Celestians' (which the current Battle Sister kit still contains parts for...) would be more like Sternguard, whereas these are like gassed up Hounds of Morkai.

This is a MacGuffin, a Scottish invention to repel tigers.

But there aren't any tigers in Scotland?

See how well it works.

Except I was talking about the models/mechanical unit concept, so your entire argument was a non-sequitur to begin with.

Except the models aren't like the old Celestians beyond the generic Sororitas armour (with added tassets and an apparent confusion about how belts work), and neither is the mechanical concept (they're an elite melee anti-psyker unit, not a shooting generalist/bodyguard).

Oh my god you're impossible.

The likelihood that the 40k unit will be able to take every option available to the kill team is low, based on most other kill teams not having the full range of options available in 40k.

They are, at the end of the day, a battle sisters squad with slightly different weapons which can be convincingly represented using the celestian squads you might have built for your army an edition or two ago, perhaps with the slight addition of sticking some sort of melee weapon on their belts if you want to make it feel a little more accurate, unlike the sacrosancts which forego ranged weapons entirely and come equipped with a shield and beatstick/halberd.

Old Celestians look just like regular Battle Sisters, weapons wise. These new Sisters carry melee weapons and pistols, which will definitely require more effort that sticking a bit of sprue to the belt to avoid confusion/mid-identification on the tabletop.
