Demiurg are Votann stunties. The lore is explicit that they keep trying to get the Demiurg to join their empire, and the demiurg refuse, and the tau dont realize they are just one small faction of a much larger race

I think it feels more function than combat focus, and the weathering ad to that feeling of a tool used frequently. That would possibly indicate Necromunda.

Could also, by a longshot, be new, more "realistic" ogryns for Astra Militarum now that they update the range to a less heroic scale.
This is based mostly on the symbol looking kind of a stylished military aquila.

Lower leg definitely looks humanoid, based on what we can see of the ankle and the foot. The rest smacks of Amphibian.

I’m guessing one of the fun, random Warbands for Underworld?

Or a T'au auxiliary, along with the other pics.

Perhaps the Londaxi? Combining the name from the Farstalker bowcaster and the runners up from the range of concept art that led to the Vespid.
They've even got the repeated V pattern from the mysterious fist rumour engine from last week - but either as warpaint on the rump, or natural colouration that they copy for their weapon decoration.

I've got them saved from some Games Day preview thread on Portent/Warseer on a computer somewhere - but this Reddit thread has them all collected together.

There's another five designs for the lion guys, and a few other species there.

Well fingers crossed it is the lionine guys. The auxiliaries are one of the most interesting elements of the Tau and the newly refreshed minis for them are great. Now that they've nailed them it would be great to have an expansion of the auxiliary range.

I'm also hoping that the druchari get their weird and wonderful xenos back soon too.

It's an absolute travesty that there's all these cool designs for so many potential Tau Auxiliary forces, and they've been around for 20 years now, and we're still only restricted to Kroot and Vespid.

If memory serves, when GW were developing Untitled Xenos, they boiled down the options to Tau and Kroot. Somewhat splitting the difference, the Kroot of course ended up folded into the Tau.

From there we can see, for better or worse, GW has strongly developed the Tau from rather boring Goody Shoot Shoes, to something a good deal more sinister, which may or may not be gradually sterilising their vassals.

With the Tau looking pretty damned good, and the Kroot getting a much needed spit and polish? I think now is indeed the time to go spelunking the Residual Xenos Mines - and I’ve high hopes that’s exactly what we’re seeing here.

Warhammer is at its best when you can have huge mecha units with loads of hi-tech weapon systems and still find place for weird naked aliens running around with cyber crossbows.

I think think this one's pretty likely. One of the other Rumor Engine pics was a new weapon that everyone assumed was Kroot because of the design. And it kind of is, but it's the same design of the Londaxi Tribalest used by the Kroot Farstalkers. This could be from the same model/unit.

Votann have just had their stuff shown off. So….what gives!

Wait….have we had updated Squits for Marines?

This one. The front casing section with the 3 side bars is the same as the Londaxi Tribalest from the Kroot Farstalkers.

They specifically said it wasn't from the Plastic Thunderhawk.

Whilst Lumineth have the most with those thin banners, they don't usually have any patterns on them. However the Eldar Corsairs also have a bunch of thin ribbons tied around their arms and backpack vanes - several with that same two thin line pattern on them.

I hope it is additional Corsairs. There was a rumour about that going around. Have they sacked off Ynnead stuff and replaced that with Corsairs for mixed Eldar?

They love technically correct misdirection, so all the more likely that it's a Thunderhawk launch pad

I don't know what the original plan was, but the Yvraine, Visarch and the corsair kit were obviously designed as part of the same faction. They share a lot of design cues.

There was some talk at some point that Yvraine was supposed to be Malys, but got repurposed for the Gathering Storm narrative and the Ynnari, but no idea how much of that was true or where those rumours first came from.
I think with the Visarch, he was specifically sculpted to be 'something older' that both the Druhkari and Craftworlders hark back to - easy to see how you'd get overlap there when the design pitch for the Corsairs is that they are also somewhere between Craftworld and Dark Eldar.

I could see this easily, especially in Yvraine's face. Much more Drukari than the official Malys sculpt.
