That is an amazing army there Doc, very impressive! You are absolutely right about how the army looks fully arrayed.
I currently have three armies at this scale, but this thread is making me want to do another

Looks great Doc!
Not quite as impressive a Legion host, but thought I'd actually get around to trying to fit all my Blood Angels into one photo!
And one with all my finished loyalist Knights and Titans added in too...

I’ve no idea why, because it doesn’t even fit?
But the theme to The Great Escape leapt to mind upon seeing such glory. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ooooh! And nice Chimedons!
I think that’s right? Might be Chimerro or Chimerax. I never did learn which was which.

Just Chimeras with autocannons, Chimedons would be sporting the stripped-down yet still massive Conqueror battlecannons. Chimerro is basically just lugging an HK missile along and the less we talk about the abomination that is the Chimerax the better

Digit extracted from orifice, and this morning I got through the Metallics on the infantry.
From here? It’s red on the right shoulder pad, the kilts on the Terminators, and a thin glowy blue on the Plasma. After that? Basing, and I’m done.

Good bunch, Doc.
5k of NetEA Minervans versus Tyranids, E:A GT scenario. A brutal affair, with the Guard eventually taking the field through weight of kills after no-one could attain a clean victory on the main objectives.

For now?
Yes.
At least one box of everything, except Storm Eagles and Termites. I may add them in due course. But for now? My epic collection shall rest.
I won’t though, as I’ve around 150 32mm Dark Angels Infantry and a bunch of tanks and Dreadnoughts to build and paint!

Meanwhile, actual WIPs for a change. First session on the next mechanised company, base colours down before edges, lights, damages, pigments and the rest.

Those look very very good. Printed to match the bigger LI (8mm?) scale?

They're about 3 cm long like the plastic Russes, yeah. Automatically Appended Next Post: Another mechanised company's worth added to the tank fleet today. Tried out AP's matt varnish from a rattlecan compared to my usual brush-applied Vallejo stuff and holy moly did it ever eat away some of the look. The NMM on the steel bits and fluo paints on the lights took the most heat from it, losing a lot of their contrast and brightness. Got to remember that going forwards.

oi! Any tips on painting a tiny Contemptor Dreadnought that I got for free? It is LI scale, and I figured this would be the best thread to ask. I've never painted something so small, and I'm not that great of a painter, but I figured sponging might be a good start. Any tips welcome! I'm just trying to get a bunch of tips before I start painting it, as it seems like it would be a good fit for what might be next month's theme for the painting challenge. Even if it isn't going to be in theme I still just want to paint him up and put him in a tiny diorama.

Depends how detailed you want to go.
However, Contrast Or Equivalent Is Your Friend at this scale.
First, it’s thin enough you’ve little risk of obliterating detail. And with a quick top down zenithal drybrush, you can get some workable shade in a trice.
Beyond that? A good quality fine detail brush in good condition.

Overexaggeration works just fine for small things. Washes are your friend. The highlights can always be starker. Base colour + wash + touch-ups can look great.
The techniques themselves don't really change, until you're pushing into advanced works.
