I see no balance issues for 70 new detachments on top of the existing...100 or so? and then combining them at will.

Perfectly simple, what could possibly go wrong?

Hiding seems neat, but 'unless the enemy is within 15" is making a lot of assumptions given how easy it is for some armies to just... do that.

I predict some people will never stop complaining about how charging now works (roll first, then pick targets)

Guess it was a decent preview, but unfortunately, nothing really was up my alley, bar that inquisitor and the deathmaster

Good solid preview!

Red Terror looks amazing and has a proper tail and everything.

Loads of solid releases for everyone but the new Guard are so solid (esp that new Inquisitor).

Cities of Sigmar steals the show with an insanely huge and amazing looking second wave. It's not for me but its an amazing set and I really hope it sells like mad!

Only downside - honestly the new Sister of Battle leader was a little plain feeling. The again I've never liked any of the "walking chairs" GW has done over the years.

The big box model reveal is... a basic marine.
Bits of old armor, differentiating is just out (which shouldn't be a surprise at this point).

basic ork has choppa, slugga -and- shoota which is a bit interesting.

Release date for the edition is June.

I don't think there was a bum model in that whole reveal.

New Guard minis are excellent, love the Centaur that's my personal favourite because everyone loves a halftrak. I'm less keen on the IFV, it's just a bit too modern and I think when I get some I'll replace with tracks.

New Night Runners and Gutter Runners. Wow as someone who loved the old NR kit dearly these look excellent. Not enough to buy them but I'm sure they'll make some Mordheim heads happy.

New Cities of Sigmar are excellent. Really dislike everything AoS brings apart from this mini line, the design is just superb throughout.

New 40k? Well on paper it sounds good as I'm all about narrative play and I like the ideas they've set. How it ends up is a different matter but we'll see. I played 3 games of 10th so I'm hardly one to judge.

Overall great reveal even if the stream was dreadful and the audio was shot to gak.

Caveat: This ISN'T to say that base games won't be more interesting: they will be. Because now, any progression that exists will have to be used by EVERYONE in every game cuz there's only one way to play.

Interesting - GW appear to have entirely abandoned the WWI aesthetic for Guard vehicles, and any pretence at disguising the inspiration for their vehicle designs, and have basically given us an M3 half-track and a Saladin armoured car. They are quite nice models, but seem to belong to a different universe.

The personalised Commissar half-track looks very Orky.

I really like the Cog Fort. I won't buy one, but it's very cool.

Wazdakka is disappointing. He looks like an ugly, bald human rather than an Ork, and the bike is way too conventional. I see that GW are leaning even more heavily into pseudo dynamic features like smoke and flame, which gives the model a very cartoony look - I always carve all that stuff off (although it looks as though it's optional on this model).

The Ork from the boxed set is more promising, although he also has that overly smooth look that digitally designed Orks seem to have. It's a bit of a surprise that they will get both shootas and choppas - that's going to invalidate a lot of people's models.

Huh. I missed it in the stream (if they said it), but the Warcom article is up now.

Terrain/cover affects hit rolls instead of armor saves again. Not sure that's universally great (its going to affect low BS/high BS armies very differently), but its far more intuitive.

They call this a major engine change, but with the army books sticking around, and "subtle changes" to combat, most of the big changes seem to be to objectives and terrain (finally), so it sounds like more tweaks than a major shakeup.

I think lamenting the death of crusade is premature, given they've implemented a similar version for AoS I think they understand the appeal it has for an escalation league. It's in the codexes they said are still current.

What they are saying is that missions are more like kill team, where your detachment will have an archetype which then determines the type of missions/secondaries you might pick from (probably more the later).

Age of Sigmar utterly stole the show. The cogfort is insane. The Skaven are fantastic. Even the Lumineth are wonderful.

The intercessor is incredibly unexciting. It's just an intercessor. It barely looks different (though I bet the new unit will be just different enough to make the old kit incompatible with the new datasheet). The Red Terror is good, but otherwise what a bundle of misses.

I particularly hate the Guard vehicles. I don't -hate- a lot of stuff in Warhammer, but that armoured car is uncomfortably uncanny valley. It's far too close to real life designs to feel properly 40k, while also being too absurd in comparison to said real life designs to not feel totally off.

So, my thoughts on the reveals (in brief, I might go into more detail in my long-neglected P&M blog):
40k new models and campaign book: Wazdakka Gutsmek is cool looking if a bit over the top, but those new Astra Militarum models are awesome! New Sororitas and Inquisitor characters are cool too.
AoS Cities of Sigmar Wave 2: Really cool models all around (lots of "death by snu snu" comments on the female Ogre/Gargant in the one set during the stream lol), but nothing, not even the Cogforts, was enough to make me want to start a Cities of Sigmar army.
New Underworlds warband: Lumineth is an army I play, but since they won't have rules for regular AoS I think I can skip them. It might be fun to work them into my Avatar the Last Airbender theme I'm doing for the army though.
New Kill Team set: New Red Terror is awesome, and I do like the new Guard guys, but I'm not a huge fan of Kill Team.
New Spearhead set (AoS): New Skaven guys are a welcome sight even though I don't play them, and it looks like this will be the first place to get a hold of some of the new Cities stuff.
New Middle-Earth models: Love the plastic command sets for Rohan and Hill Tribes, I'll probably grab a set of each, and I'm EXTREMELY pumped about the new Riders of Rohan!
Weta Mephiston statue: I don't collect stuff like this, it's cool that it exists but it isn't for me.
White Scars helmet: Not a White Scars fan, but I'd love to get the Dark Angels one assuming it wasn't a limited thing and gone already.
11th edition 40k teaser: Teaser is teasing, and some of the new things they talked about have little red flags going up in my head, but there's also some good changes. Will wait to see more. New models had me kind of meh honestly, like did we really need new Intercessors or Ork Boyz? Hopefully the rest of the models will get me more hyped.

Edit: Almost forgot the 30k reveals! New Charonite Ogryn are a mixed bag for me, those faces look incredibly derpy. The other Solar Auxilia stuff is nice though, and I'm sure will be appreciated by many so they don't have to buy the expensive resin versions any more. The Spartan Variant is rather forgettable unless you just love Heavy Bolters for some reason.

Definitely a lot of stuff to go through, overall I think there's more hits than misses but AoS definitely edges out 40k again at least in terms of design. Cogforts look sick, but I do dislike they're trying to push it as another Krondspine type model where everyone can take one. I'm sure there'll be cool conversions like War Mammoths/Super Ultra Hell Cannons for Chaos or Giant Pig Cannons for Orruks, but still weird. Gate Gargants were not on my bingo list and they look hilarious in a good way. Glad Skaven finally have proper Clan Eshin models that aren't trapped in an Underworlds box. Cities of Sigmar definitely look like they're lining up for the Duardin and Aelves portion of their army to be properly separated soon given the big emphasis on the human elements of the army design.

On the 40k side, I do find it funny that they've more or less just backtracked Mark X for armour now though back to older armour sets. Just waiting for those hellblasters and eradicators to break up and go back into intercessors to become tactical marines again lol.

Wazdakka looks great and the teasers for the Orks for the 11th ed launch line up with the what the rumours have been saying for a while. The only one that seems a bit different is the artillery wallker vehicle, that one feels a bit weird since I would have just preferred a proper looted tank but I guess we'll see what the actual model looks like. I guess GW's way of dealing with shootas sucking is just folding them into the boyz squad, which is probably a better call to make it so existing Ork players don't need to fuss about what they should use in the current edition.

Wasn't expecting all the extra Guard stuff with Yarrick! I do like the new Commissar pimp mobile that is literally the model embodiment of "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword" but I'm not as crazy about the hippogryff. The Centaur feels like what the Taurox should have been.

Low point is probably 30k with the open faced helm Charonite Ogryn, those are some seriously derpy faces. I can't imagine most people not sticking to the close faced helms.

Less a backtrack than you think. The whole model is in MKX except the MK7 faceplate (and they have been mixing faceplates all edition, look at Sternguard). The knees are the same as the variant sprinkled into Primaris BT and SW. This guy is just one of the new Grey Hunters without SW bling.

Fair point, I'm not a marine player so I'm not super aware of all the nuances for the Mark X armour pieces barring the most visible ones, but it still more or less feels like moving towards just phasing primaris into truescale marines like they always wanted to do at the beginning.

The ears on the mk X still have the helmet looking goofier than the mk VII. If they had actually just made proper truscale mk VII I might've actually been interested in space Marines again.

Or the advantage of yet another special character commissar, come to that.

Models take years to go from concept to production. I highly doubt we're that far out on Steel Legion which means this is something planned. The only thing that would be responding to the negative feedback would be that trailer getting a new voice over.

Eh, this was the original Centaur, and I think the new one works better for the setting. Plus it's something that still visually works for Krieg so I'm happy. Now my WWI French Krieg might actually get some more progress done.
