Just wondering, I'm really interested in playing 40K, just life kinda got in the way for a bit (Army, wife and daugher, house, etc..) but now I want to play.
Last time I played was in, like 87/88 with Rogue Trader (still got the book).
Just checking out the 40k sites and I noticed this game has grown and changed quite a bit, seems a bit daunting to take it all in, but really cool/interesting.
Wondering if any one my age (37) still plays?
Anyways thanks.

I'm in the early 30's and many of the players I know are around there, + or - a few years.

Ow yes I play and I'm 40, fantasy only, not 40k..
But there are older players still.. Oldest I played against was about 60

Good luck with the games

Duke of Brettonia, Elector Count of the Empire, Mercenary General, Goblin Warboss, Elf Prince, Dwarven Thane, Saurus Scar-Veteran,Vampire Count and Highborn of the Druchii.

I know lots of 30+ players. You'd be surpirsed at how many people who played in the Rogue Trader Era have stayed on for the ride.

I have played off and on and am in the mid 30s. I think most of my aversion to playing these days is that I am not sure of the best way to find other "mature" players. I have no interest in going to the local GW and hanging out with the kids. Nice thing about being a little older is I have a whole basement and a table, and all the trappings necessary to game independent of a store, just haven't found the right group of people.

I just turned 38 and I've been playing since the RT-era myself...

So, yes. There are grognards who play into their 30's/40's.

I'll be hitting 40 at the end of this year (!) and my best friend (and who actually games WFB/40K WAY more than me) is going to hit 40 in June.

They key at this "advanced age" is to get into a good gaming group and stay there!

If you can, that is...

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

I'm 39 (40 later this year) and I also started with RT.
I used to be in a club (closed down post 9/11 liability insurance hikes) that had quite a few members my age (and older) who were dads, or military.

Look for clubs near you, some might actually have older players. Failing that, try a 'veterans night' at a GW or other gaming store.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Hey bud, sounds like our Time lines converged in 87/88.
The only reaon I stopped playing 40k was the Navy would not let me set up a table in the Gally, lol

As for getting back into it-BEWARE!! You now have a higher income(I'm guessing!) from when you were a lad, so you may find your collection increases dramatically after a few months.

I started playing two years ago after a LOOOOOONG break.

I have multiple LR's,
A Company of Marines,
A company of Termies
2 Titans
Baneblades etc.

Seeing lots of 30-somethings here on Dakka. Maybe there's a correlation.

Oh, and count me among them. 34 in a little over a month.

Unfortunately I turn 31 this year so I guess I qualify. I think my entire gaming group is 29 or older, with at least one player in their mid 40s.

And I only started playing about a year and a half ago so, though I'd been interested in the game/known a lot of the fluff for a while before that, but didn't know anyone who played.

Most of the tournaments I've been to since then at least half or even more of the players have appeared to be at least in their late 20s, with a significant portion of 30somethings.

Just turned 35. Started playing fantasy in 1989 and 40k in 1991. Took a few years off when I went to Iraq and just recently got back into it.. And as said before... it's an addiction. I gave up cigarettes to pay for the minis.

For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... Currently 39, not playing GW stuff at the mo, but playing plenty of other systems.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Two of the guys I regularly have games with are 32 and 36 (I'm 26). But at our gaming club the guys that play GW games are in their 50's.

I'll probably keep playing as long as I can see to paint. lol.

I play WHFB exclusively now but still have my 40k armies and get the books.

I hit the big 30 in August. I actually was out of 40k during my mid 20s, which is the group a lot of the folks I game with are in. That is one of my problems, my FLGS has a younger crowd, I think the guy I play most often is 15 or 16.
