Hmmm, very nice, and distinctly different from the FW offering.
Hopefully a hell of a lot cheaper too.

Fingers crossed for a splash release box with multiple pods at a price break. 3 or even 5 in a box would be nice. however, they probably know they'll sell a ton, and won't budge much on price.

Very cool. 4 Years later than we wished for, but cool nontheless.
A splash release box set would be a sweet deal. I can finally pull out my Dark Angel army that's been sitting in my closet since early last year. A little bit of converting and I'll also have my Dreadnought Drop Pod (for another FW model sitting in my closet).
Definitely excited about this release.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Seeing as I will have to buy ANOTHER 10 of the Bloody things for my Chapter, *sigh* we will see how far I can stretch my Budget(and Patience)

You could probably just leave out all the fiddly bitz in the middle and call it done.
OR, GW may save us the problem, call it too confusing to have multiple drop pod configurations and leave that option out of the 5th edition marine codex.
Anyway, here's hoping they are Rhino priced, and not Land Raider priced!

I've heard $30 for the US price.
I just thought of someting. In 5th you use actual LOS targeting, does that mean you can shoot through it?
And does that mean all the people (like me) who converted their own non-opening drop pods are screwed?

The easy, albeit a D-bag move to block true LOS is to glue a door or two up.

Well if model it with the gubbins inside, you're essentially
doing the same thing. You just won't be blocking LOS to
taller models from taller models, but standard infantry
wouldn't be able to draw a bead.
I dunno, I think it's to be expected to try to block LOS
unless a player wants their army to be able to target
through their drop pods. Maybe those guys will model them
with removable interiors and field them accordingly (need
LOS? field them empty. need to block LOS? field them with
crap inside)

Or just leave the doors shut.
There is no rule that says you actually have to model the doors open in order to disembark from a vehicle.

Yeah, but there was a post that implied that it was
unsporting to model them as such. I don't think so, as it's
not like someone's buying a sheet of card that's wider than
the pod and gluing it on in the name of LOS blocking.

Oh good... more things to buy.
Ok, well it looks like I have a Maelstrom UK order in my future come this Christmas.
As far as the kit itself goes, obviously we have no details about what's included, what options it has (here's hoping for a Dreadnought Pod option!), but just from that picture alone I'm quite impressed. The existing pod has always been a 5-man thing, and GW would have been quite within their rights to design a 10-man pod that could have looked vastly difference to the Drop Pod we've all come to know and love through FW and Dawn of War. Instead they took the Drop Pod we know and just made a 10-man version of it, and for that I'm quite happy.

I heard someplace the doors have hinges. So you can use them to adapt to battlefield conditions .

a multi-pack will sell like hotcakes (so long as it's cheaper than buying them individually of course!) - I mean, how many people will want only one? Although one would make a great diorama, hmm I'm getting ideas for a Golden Daemon entry...
