Any ideas for a "counts as"?

I'm leaning towards Centigors. Though, I've also considered bloodletters mounted on wolves/steeds/spawn.

Some are glass as glass half-full type of person.

Some are a glass half-empty.

I'm a glass half broken and shoved into someones face kinda guy...

Why do you need "counts-as" ? Don't you like the models ? Is it for the background of your army ? Maybe you should give some more information if we're supposed to help you...

Can you not hear the music of the gods ?

Tonka Steam-rollers....

Centigors would be kinda dainty
It's the Bloodcrusher's bulk that ready give them their Juggernaut feel

Maybe some of the Mage Knight steam-robots (whatever they were called)

perhaps Warmachine trolls would work better, or Vor Razor Fangs

Because I'd like to field several. And being a poor-ass college student, I can't afford to buy a bunch.

Too bad though, I love the models.

So far I'm leaning towards Centigors... Though blood letters riding LoTR Wargs would look cool too.

Any other ideas? I'd prefer them to be GW models, so they will be tournament legal.

Actually, I really like the idea of using the Wargs. They're really fierce looking and fit in with the lean but deadly look of the new/original 'letters.

In terms of altering them, I'd try stripping the hair off one with a knife and file to get an idea of how cool it'd look with no hair. Add some strategic spikes and a few scales and you've got a cool looking mount.

Not sure about the scale- you might have to fold the 'letter legs back a bit and have him lean forward to make it look right though.

is the rules about using LOTR models a Golden Daemon thing or does it apply to all comps?

Agreed on both. I think centigors work as flesh hound replacements, the important parts about juggers are their mass and their armor in my mind. Or you could emphasize the fact that they're a mounted model, but in my mind they've got 1 profile so anything large and armored should be a great counts as.

I agree with you on the $$$ factor on crushers, it's the reason I don't use them right now too. I'm thinking that "bloodbeasts of khorne" would be a good addition to my khorne demons, in the form of the nice plastic spawn kit. Properly armored up I think they'd work for crushers easily, I might give it a shot sometime and see.

And a side note, I don't like any of the flesh hound models available, so I use squigs as "blood hounds of Khorne" (they are so toothy)

it's a publishing thing. you can use the models in your armies, but they won't be able to publish any pictures of those models. In fact, there are no restrictions to using LOTR bitz on your models save what I mentioned above. Using a full out LOTR model in a 40k or fantasy army won't get you banned from a game, but again, it will definately get you a no fly zone for the cameras.

What about the old chaos hounds?

Squigs are a) awesome and b) scream "2 attaks with S5 on the charge but naked with 5+ inv save beasts" to me

The best flesh hounds I've seen were conversions of metal warhounds so that they all had that second skull-like head GS'd in. With the death of the bitz service that is really no longer possible for me

And fun fact, I own just as many official flesh hounds as I do squighounds that I put on the table, but made the decision to build / paint and run the models I actually like. So not in that counts as to save money!
