Okay, so I was doing some assembly on some possessed chaos space marines and my hand the was holding him up slipped off and my other hand hit the model which in turn put a little spike right into my finger. (this isn't the first time this has happened)

I think there's still bits of dark eldar in me from my first models ten years ago.

Yeah, I think this is probably most common among DE players - those spiky bitz is sharp!

Well, I can't say that a model has ever got the best of me, but I've been on the wrong end of my knife a few times.

4:00 am + dull hobby knife + too large a metal model to cut through = a trip to the emergency room (Hilarity ensues) I cut accross my entire right palm.

I ended up driving myself so my parents wouldn't know. After 3 hours waiting in the ER, I said screw it and walked out. It was shallower than I had thought it was, so it healed completely. There's hardly any scar.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - it's not a good conversion unless I've drawn blood while making it.

On my models?

Nope.

On a #1 x-acto with #11 blades ? Many times.

A mate of mine did manage to draw blood when his Heresy "Netherlord" spiked him, though (he was using it was a Bloodthirster, as it was a better model, and a damn sight cheaper, too).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I had a friend cut open his 4 knuckles on a CoD building while rollling dice.
Since them we constantly taunt him with that building.

I pegged the palm of my right hand on some metal DE models. It was still sticking in my hand when i flipped my hand over, thus the modeling sitting nicely on my hand impaled in it.

At GD Chicago, a group had made the Guard vs. Tau board. I almost jabbed my temple about four times checking line of sight on those damn CoD buildings.

I have had allot of times where I was sure I had just ripped open my hand with getting a part from the sprue. But alas no blood has ever been draw by model, nor knife. Oh well I am sure if super glue was not coating my hands they would suffer greatly. :p

Woe to the Emo modeller.

Or maybe it's a bonus? I don't know.

Yes, metals are the best to cut yourself on, and the glue takes forever to set and when it is half the time you realise that you have become part of the model

I recently was assembling a Daemon Prince, and I had filed the edge of his sword to get rid of a rather obvious mould-line, and I dropped him. I looked down, and it's partially buried in my foot. I had an inch of metal IN MY SOFT, YOUNG FLESH. I will never forget the horrible sound it made.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

The real question is, "Who hasn't cut themselves on the hobby?" X acto, dimond saw, push drill, the spikey bits, box cutter, razorblades...
I think it is a right of passage, and no real mini modeler worth thier salt doesn't have some kind of a war wound or a good story and taken a few for the team on the minis.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

I dropped a few spikes form my CSMs on the floor infront of my table once. Next time I came around with bare feet I definitely notice the piece of sharp plastic making it's way inside my foot. Not a big deal didn't go in far and I didn't bleed much. Those CSMs though... they are a spiky bunch.

As for general modeling wounds I put a hobby knife to the bone in my finger a few months ago. I need to cut away from myself. And I super glued a PM to my hand last week.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

This same discussion comes up every few months.

Twice I nearly cut my fingers off by sticking them in the spinning wheel of a bicycle.

I bet someone can beat that.

Back before I got married and bought a house, I had an apartpment with a ratty couch. One of those HUGE "low rider" ones with no back legs. When you sit on it, your knees are almost as high your chin. I had a board on my lap with 3-4 open paints and a cup of water. I was detailing some minis whilst watching tv. My phone rang. My phone was located all the way in the kitchen.

I popped the paintbrush into my mouth (to keep it moist, but not wet) and slowly hurried to set the board on the couch. The phone is still ringing. CRAP! I NEED TO GET IT FAST! ARRRRRRGGGHHH!!!

I threw my body weight forward to launch myself out of the couch and run to the kitchen when, "sploootch"... The paintbrush in my mouth hit my knee and embedded itself, bristle and ferrule first, into my tongue.... About an inch-and -a-half into my tongue. Straight back, not top to bottom like a piercing.

I got to the phone in time, but all they heard was, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!" as I yanked the paintbrush out.

Interesting how blood has a decidedly metallic taste to it.
