Okay, I can barely contain myself...

As always, FW kicks arse when it comes to models and they may very well have outdone themselves with these figurines! See below and enjoy:

Imperial Armour Model Masterclass Volume 1 http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/modelbk.htm; The first book of its kind produced by Forge World, Imperial Armour Model Masterclass http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/modelbk.htm; has been many months in the making and something of a labour of love for its principle writers, Forge World designers Phil Stutcinkas and Mark Bedford. Two of the premier modellers in their fields, with a wealth of modelling experience under their belts, Mark is a multi-Golden Demon winner, while Phil has won the prestigious `Best of Show` award at Euro Militaire 2006.

That khorne lord is straight from Awesome Town.

I'm glad to see a bit more ork stuff, but there needs to be even than that.

$100 for three biker nobs? They might be beautiful sculpts but that's full-tilt stupid.

Amen, Teek. When I saw the Ork Nob Bikers title, I was expecting a conversion kit for the plastic warbikes. Did we really need resin bikes as well? Nob resin heads, bodies, legs and arms would have been fine.

Can't a player buy about 4 warbiker boxes for $100? Maybe even more boxes than that? Wouldn't that get you 3 Nob bikers AND 9 regular bikers? Just... wow. Don't know about that price.

That one does look really nice....but honestly, it is almost right on par with the regular Nob from the box set. A moderate level converter could probably pull something very similar off.

Wasn't there just a thread about how people were whinging about how the IG were getting all the love, and why couldn't FW do something else for a change. Some like Lagduf wanted orks.

Well, we finally get something other than IG super heavies and people get bitchy all over again.

If you're complaining about FW prices then you still really don't get the notion of show pieces items. They going to be expensive. Stupid expensive. Mad stupid whack sloppy expensive. Buy them or don't but comparing them to mass run items is apples & oranges- you're buying them because you like them, not because they're affordable. And really, you've seen one shot of one model in a group of 3 so you can't tell me you don't like the way they look (yet).

And all of you get the hell of my lawn.

What makes a miniature a "show pieces item" is not the price... you can buy expensive stuff that looks like cr@p and superb minis that are cheap.

Sorry, Moopster, but I ain't usually the one to chime in about prices, from FW or from GW. It's a hobby, it's a luxury item, I get that, you gotta pony up for it. But I had to take a second look to really see what was so different about these bikes compared to the new plastic ones, and all I really came up with was 'bigger, knobby tires'. The bike may be a tad bigger (hard to tell), and the orks may be sculpted better (I know they will certainly be more detailed, knowing the sculptors and the qualities of resin), but that's REALLY a lot of cash to drop on 3 of something that, from what I can see, wouldn't be too difficult to convert from a cheaper kit.

This can't really be said about the dreadnought or the Khorne lord - sure, you could buy the plastic dread and convert one, but that would take a lot more time and effort to get same visible differences seen between the 2 kits. Had the Forge World Nobz on bikes come out before the plastic warbike kit, then I could see where the money would be going. There's a real difference there.

I see where you are coming from with the showpiece item comments, but I just can't see paying that much for something that doesn't look that drastically different from the current piece, that could be converted to a similar standard. Sure, not everyone has that skill, but I think that FW customers have become accustomed to getting more 'difference' for their money than the Nobz kit offers.

How's that phrase go? A fool and his money are soon parted?

Anyone who will fork out fifty-fething-two pounds for 3 bikes would definately fit into that category.

Nice to see something other than the usual torrent of IG.

The Khorne lord is particularly nice, and the Ultras dread is great.

The bikes. They really missed a great idea on this one. As others have said, head, arm/weapons, and maybe a couple of bike kit parts would have really sold well for nobz.

Hey now, some of us divorced people are smart enough to correct our mistakes and get away with not having palimony payments! (Although I still had no money )

I think that's exactly my point though Moopy. Ork nob bikers aren't exactly what I'd call "show piece". I will gladly fork over cash for a lord, or warboss, or Dragon etc, something that alone will command the spotlight. Nob bikers however are a unit, and nearly never taken in 3's. Average unit of 6-8 is going to run you over 200 bucks? Sorry, that's just plain silly.

If you want a one off biker boss or Wazzdakka, then it's great, to each their own. But the label on the tin, plain old nob bikers, does not command a $100+ price tag. Granted we've only seen a single teaser shot, if they have visible cybork features then they'll fill a niche in a popular ork list. I'll stick with conversions and a few nice steak dinners, myself.

I think the Ork bike looks underwhelming so far, but really, I'd have to see more angles and a parts breakdown to be definitive.

It's more expensive than the Ig Rough Riders they've done before, even though it's probably in the same size range, which I suppose could either be FW upping their prices or them pricing the models based on mould complexity (a bike is bound to have more parts to it than one of those horse-thingies).

The supply does not get to make the demands.

i'm with everyone else about the ork biker nob, the other two better be damn impressive, or the bikes and nobz themselves better be huge. Even then it's still a strech to pay that much. Why on earth is it 52 pounds?

World oil prices.... damn can't use that because oil has gone down.
The price per unit of the blood of innocents used to make FW models so cool has gone up?

It is a conversion kit. Look closely at the darker parts of the bike. The front forks that go up to the undercarriage are all dark like GW plastic and the little spikes and stuff are clearly the same as the plastic bikes. The guns on the back are also GW plastic bits. So yeah, unless I'm horribly mistaken these are conversion kits with new front wheels, handle bars, riders and ammo tanks on the back. So over $100before buying a box of GW Ork bikers necessary to complete the models.

52 pounds is a weird number. It might be backwards, and 25 pounds is the number. That makes a LOT more sense.

Time will tell, though.

Well it is Forgeworld.

[/obligatory dig]

Actually, given what FW have been doing with conversion kits recently, I wouldn't be surprised if this came with the three bikes already. Still, 52 is just balls-to-the-wall looney for pricing. For that kind've miney I'd want it to atleast come with [overt sexual act involving famous celebrity] or if not that [imbued with a precious metal or stone of choice].

I spend more in a night for less at a strip club. At least I get to go home with 3 nob bikers and they are the sexy for days to come!

Heck.. I shoot off $100 of paintballs in a day, and again, all I get to keep is the sweat and pain. Fill up the tank of the truck... a good $80, and that lasts less than a week. In a lot of ways $100 for three ork bikers doesn't seem all that bad to me It's all in what you are willing to spend your money on. I work with guys that have $100 ties...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
