They want people to ask rules questions via email now.... askyourquestion@games-workshop.com.

I will miss being able to discuss rules now, as well as strategy etc.

I wonder if they have had the foresight to save a bank of all questions and answers to ensure consistency and improve the FAQ's?

I'm glad they've brought back the email Q&A personally. I thought it was ridiculous to call in to the order center to ask questions. BTW, where did you come across this info? I doubt it was posted on the website.

I called them up and they told me when I asked a rules question.

Very funny, no accoutability or support, unless its on their time.ROFL Absolutely crazy! Not that the rule you got from them was always correct anyway. I remember back in the mid 90's we had a running joke that the rules phone sat in the middle of a long hallway linking their offices to the bathroom, so when it rang you got the guy just finished who would talk to you at depth and give a sensible ruling or the guy who had to go so bad he gave you waht ever so he could hit the head! You could call and get one answer and gat a different one 5 mins later on the same question. Later they added a spead sheet form so at least the answer was the same when you called them but I remember the my buddys telling me about the GTs over ruling the office more than a few times. Who knows maybe this will work out in the end......

Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war!

I think the best part about this is now they can easily generate lists of FAQ for reference and be more consistent. Also I think it will help with their FAQ process. We shall see.....

Besides the call in process was a joke...or more correctly usually the punch line...

instead of just a 1 on 1 q&a email , maybe they could develop a web page where all these questions could be cataloged and tracked for future players... something like a web page where they answer frequently asked question.... wow that would be awesome.... hey GW welcome to 1996..... what a joke.

you mean conflicting answers? You get that at your local group anyways, and this way, you get an order in, get another way to look at it and it's always good for debate..

The answers would probably have been more accurate.

But seriously, it's about time GW put in a proper database or internal Wiki to let them create FAQs. They're revamped their website and online store. They have done a lot of work in computerising the supply chain. They must have some expertise that would let them track rules queries.

I like the wiki idea, particularly if they were picky about who they let edit it.

I'm thinking they should only allow designers to edit it, but either use it for the database to pull out the email answers or better still make it publicly readable.

In this day of rampant computerisation of schools, homes, libraries and internet cafes, I don't accept the argument that rule amendments and explanations should not be made available electronically.

The nice thing about a wiki is that you can go behind the scenes and read the discussions about what goes up on the page. But yeah, limiting its input to the designers is for the best.

Assuming they understand your question and you can understand their answer...

Of course, to get there, you need to go through a 30-minute phone script after spending 15 minutes navigating the automated IVR system...

You sure you were calling the Rulez Boys?

I think you'd have better luck discussing strategy with a phone sex line.

No joke. I've called the rulezboyz before and quickly realized that they were a bunch of monkeys holding a rulebook who knew less about the game than I did. I think they brought about more bizarre interpretations, rules-lawyering and confusion than any help or clarity. Good riddance.

This is interesting. You could conceivably print out the responses you get and compare them with what your friends get.

Close. Mine is something like this:

"Ask the same roolzboy the same 'yes/no' question three times and you'll get three different answers"

Isn't there also some version that paraphrases the Eldar codex even more closely? Something like:

"Ask not the Ruleboyz a question, for they will give you three answers, all of which are true and horrifying to know."

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias
