That or it is a safety to prevent him dropping it all the time due to bionic arm failures.

I'm more interested in why a six foot mound of sweaty flesh and muscle would need a medical mask when rutting inside your wounds with sweaty sausage fingers.

So he doesn't drool in your wounds.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

I think he's rolling out bandages.

Though the image of a guardsman being stormed by hordes of possessed Marines looking for the appropriate chapter in his field manual is kinda cool. Sad but cool.

Dosn't the Catachan Commander (lad with the Bolter) look like a complete and utter, out of proportion, pile of poop?

The rest are ok.

We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Hmm.. Good thing my birthday is in may .

The cadian officer with the cigar looks brilliant, but the catachan officer with his armoured tank-top is... just wrong... The guy with the face mask would make a perfect interrogator; he'd be pretty suitable for creeping people out - maybe as a retinue for a an inquisitor?

I definitely would have considered starting if they'd done some nice plastic greatcoat gaurd. But the new cadians don't impress me and I hate Catachans. So I'll steer clear.

I hear ya, and I think if they could go back in time GW would replace plastic catachans with plastic greatcoat guard, but I think when they made the decisions they made both Catachans and Cadians were relatively wise choices. Catachan plastics were 98/99, and IIRC catachans were the most popular of the old metal ranges (they still show up more than anything on eBay, but that may be due to their continued popularity in the plastic era) and fit with the (quickly aborted) plan to release sub-codices for different battle field types. The Steel Legion had yet to be released, and while valhallans were popular, Catachans were more so and probably easier to stamp out. The major problem with the catachans, outside of their inherent sillyness, is that they were a rare misfire, joining DE warriors as some of the only plastic kits that are now too ugly to use.

Flashing forward five years, the decision to green light cadians over greatcoat is a bit murkier, but that IG book is loved by one and all for it's insane flexibility with regard to doctrines. While Greatcoat guard would look sweet, it would be fair harder to use them as drop troops, or light infantry, or even in many terrain sets. You can put a cadian model in jungle, urban, wastes, desert, or even ice camo, but Great coats are a bit more limited.

Essentially, I think they figured that Cadians would have the widest appeal, while Great Coat guard would have the deepest, and they went for a broader appeal. I collect Praetorians, so I've watched the plastics come out and I've been utterly unimpressed, so I know how you feel.
