Just found couple of these lying around and decided to give them a try with quickshade, tbh i think they came alright for the quick effort =)

Quickshade used was the Dark Tone and i actually did 2 coats instead of 1(wasn't dark enough for my taste!)

They were primed with Army Painter Platemail

red = blood red (or well the coat'd'arms red equilevant)

Gold = Shining Gold GW

Cloth = Dheneb Stone GW

Skulls = Ivory Vallejo Model

Powerswords were just simply done with Asurmen Blue washes few times over

Bases were done using:

Beastial Brown -> Bubonic Brown -> Bleached Bone & then few Jungle tufts from Army Painter

If you have any more questions hit me with a PM or ask here

Anyhow here's the pictures:

And little boring picture from the behind:

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ahh ye and shine was removed with Vallejo matte varnish brush-on(amazing stuff), also couple of coats to ensure good protection.

Good work, its a very clean paint job and the bases are done nicely. Also, is it sad that by looking at the wall in the background of the picture I can instantly recognize that your house is in Europe somewhere? Upon looking at the models again, I'd suggest some highlights to make it look like real love's been poured into the models

Hehe thanks

Yeah im from Europe, Finland ^^

I might do extra highlightning, but then again.. they look good enough for basic troops for my liking (tabletop).

Was the quickshade the last step you did? How did you apply it?

Loverly! Did you paint on the quickshade, or dip them?

I guess I should have read flaim's post. Anywho, how did you apply coats 1 and 2?

I used Citadel Wash brush for applying the quickshade, after the first layer i cleaned my brush with turpentine(and water). When dry(~12-24 hours depending) i applied the 2nd coat.

After the 2nd coat was dry then i applied Vallejo matte varnish with a brush.

Hope this helped!

That is good information. I have some Quick Shade unopened at the house and some Grey Knights in need of paint. On the samples I did I wasn't happy with the coverage of Badab Black so I am going to try it your way.

I want this quick shade stuff so bad, but at $30 a can and not having a side by side of each shade I don't know what to go with.

Also doesn't help I haven't settled on a scheme for my Dark Eldar.

May have to start a marine army as this stuff seems to be tailor made for marines.

Really fantastic looking models.

I'd prolly go with strong tone or dark tone(prolly with the dark tbh, strong tone is more of a brown colored).

Quickshade is prolly not the best solution for Dark Eldar schemes(as they tend to be dark colored, and quickshade dont rly do justice with dark colours imo)

Anything with bright colors is perfect for quickshading =)

And thx

While it does look really clean, I also have to agree and say that it needs another highlight to really make the models *pop*. But good job none the less.

The pen is mightier then the sword, but you must keep a sword handy for when the pen runs out of ink.

That is a very good paint job. You've got me thinking again about how to paint!

its a good start.

If you are looking to improve, pre-highlighting edges with Mithril Silver will help them pop.

You can also do this afterwards.

Now all they need is they eyes painted and some fixing on the power weapons.
