We should start seeing posters, messages on the website and GW staff telling us to be in stores on the 17th September for a 'Special Announcement' soon. Could be wrong but I'm fairly certain that this involves the 'Dread Fleet' the fantasy naval game special release. It's also Parade Day for 'Armies on Parade' so it's another way of getting people in store, people will be advised to register on the website so that they don't miss out.

Also White Dwarf has been pushed back from the 24th September to the 1st October, not sure if this is Dread Fleet orientated or just that September is a long month.

I believe the WD delay is also GD related.

I don't know about you but I know very little about the 'dread fleet'.
Do you know some stuff you'd like to share?

I've seen no pictures of the models.
I don't even know what scale it's in.
I don't know what races it involves.
people arn't even sure if it's a board game or a tabletop game...

Why would the magazine be delayed cause of GD? Isnt the magazine finished MONTHs in advance of its actual release? I would think then they would have to delay by a few months to be caught up with a real-time event such as GD

Simple: when you dont know what will be released next month you will spend all your money on the gamesday and wont wait untill the new releases arrive.

Dread Fleet is an October release and it will be announced on th GD, so they wont people to know about it earlier.

Euro gamesday must be a lot more interesting than our Day of Advertising and No New Info (US gamesday)

Last year we saw the initial BL digital stuff, would seem logical to see if we see the initial genesis of something similar this year.

I'm also quite looking forwards to one of the main display (gaming ?) boards, which features the underwater battle between the Space Wolves and the Tau, many of the stores have been very busy painting and converting models for this.

I think the announcement probably ties into the fantasy fleet thingie they are bent on producing.

Or perhaps they announce Matt Ward becomes head of the entire fluff department.

Lol, I do not care too much, especially about the WD being pushed back.

I was subscribing until without telling me they moved the delivery dates of the magazine until 1 week AFTER it was available in-store. When I called looking for my magazine they said they changed the dates for marketting purposes and if not happy they'd transfer me through to cancel my subscription....which I did...stupid GW.

Your special announcement is probably come to the store and buy some gamesday tickets!!! and a big list of all the events going on we have so many tickets left over :(

I dont give 2 hoots about a stupid game with sail boats. I personally prefer 40k.

I woudl hope for some sort of Necron news at Games Day. You'd think if it only (supposedly) 2 months away they will have something to show off.

Hiding releases from customers remains the absolute worst marketing strategy possible for this particular hobby, and in light of the activities by other companies within the same marketspace.
