If you're reading this, thankyou for putting up with a bit of pretentious bible quoting action in the title, and welcome to my world of terrible, messy works that eventually turn into some quite nice models. I think the picture really tells you everything you need to know, but by all means have a gander at the stuff currently cluttering up my desk. I'll try and update anytime I get anything done that's worth seeing.



scout biker


Let me be straight up with you: I don't like the current marine bikes. The ground clearance and sat-back postures of the riders bring to mind Hopper & Fonda in Easy Rider, when what you really want to be thinking of is ancient/medieval cavalry - knights on fearsome warhorses. So that's kinda where this guy comes from - he's supposed to be a kind of light cavalry outrider, hunched over his mount as he charges through incoming fire. Or perhaps incoming tree branches, because that's just how scout bikers roll. Much more ground clearance on this guy, and he ends up just a little taller than one of my marines (probably not helpful when dealing with the aforementioned tree branches, but oh well). The magazine for the grenade launcher needs rounding out properly, but other than that I'm happy with him.


stormtalon gunship - Rage of Olympus


I'm one of those weird guys who loved this thing at first sight. It comes out not at all well in the photos, but the canopy is painted gold - it's supposed to be like the EVA visors that astronauts use. I've probably painted the pilot name on the wrong side, but it's not changing now because I'm never going to be able to paint lettering that nicely ever again.

See, ordinarily a person'd get discouraged by a lack of comments on the WIP thread, but when your only comment is from the best username on the whole damn site, you can't help but smile.

This log was going to be all about expansions to my Blood Ravens, but I've hardly done a thing with them all week and I thought it'd be good to make a post as to the reason why. With perfect timing, immediately after I started this I went out and got myself involved in a painting competition at my local store, which was so dumb. For real. Anyway, the competition is inspired by the Blanchitsu article in this month's WD, what is all about the plastic nurgle lord and badass conversions of it, so they've got us painting and converting that. I'm still finishing off my greenstuff work before I get to painting. Here, have pictures.



This is a character that I've decided to call Abathiah Schulk, because it's not quite Abiatha Swelter (from Gormenghast), but close enough. He's supposed to be kind of a small-time underhive crime lord, depicted in the middle of a totally legitimate business transaction. I've tried to imitate the Blanche aesthetic by creating a dude who looks like he should be from medieval/early renaissance times, but you can tell that he's from the future on account of all the weird mechanical bits. He's going to have a tasteful giant tattoo of his name right across his belly. He's also going to have a fancy base.



The hanging bit of parchment on the lamp post is, I think, going to be a little wanted poster of Abathiah himself, just in case there's any doubt about whether this is a lawful sort of individual or not. So yeah, that's what I've been doing with myself since last posting.

The one bit of bigger space marine stuff I have actually gotten done has been to finally teach myself to paint a camouflage pattern that doesn't look like complete trash, which is going to be important when finishing off the scout bikers. In case you're wondering whether the colours have gone all weird on my camera, it is actually purple and brown. Weird colours, but they go well with the bases that my guys are on. Regular sandy colours aren't going to work for me.



Back soon, gotta go actually paint something now.

I like the biker and the stormtalon is an interesting take on.a blood raven scheme. I like it.

Wow that stormtalon is awesome! I love the freehanded bloodraven symbol, and weathering looks great too. You're definitely a talented painter and modeler, that crime lord looks freakin sick.

I don't think I can adequately express in words just how badly I hate painting feathers, but they're about done now. A little work on the hat still to do, though.

Great model! A different take on the Nurgle Lord converstion than I have seen before. I like the hat: it seems to be a desperate attempt of class from a completly deranged underhiver. The wanted poster sounds like a fun idea, but I'm not sold on the name tattoo. Maybe something more along the lines of "Pay Up"

Well, for all of your loathing, the feathers turned out pretty good, imho.

Now it's working I was a little afraid of the "No Fear" part, just because of that random clothes brand, but the actual paintjob doesn't evoke any similarities. Great work!
