Subject: What song do you think of when you play 40k?
Whenever I play, I bring my iPad and loudly listen to Heart of courage while my dark eldar cave in skulls ( or get their skull smashed by bolt rounds ). Are there any songs you like to listen to when you play?

"Archon Yulliptidon sat apon a throne made of polished glass, which gleamed with magnificence in the rays of the dying suns, beautifully suspended above the the many razor sharp peaks that where Commorragh. The archon held within his hands a a delicate pyramid of sculpted crystal, from which emitted a faint glow, an echo of the soundless screams of pain belonging to countless tortured souls forever trapped within. The room in which the archon sat in was something like a throne room, but displayed apon the walls where helm of every color, but all the same in size and shape. Some bore eagles on their foreheads, and others still contained the decapitated heads of their previous owners. Two huge, beautifully carved iron double doors, engraved with intricate runes of pain and suffering, opened at the far end of the room, to reveal a tall, elegant dark eldar warrior, clad in armor made from bone and flesh. "lord Yulliptidon, you asked for my presence?" Said the arrival, " to what do I owe the pleasure?". The archon raised his elongated head, skin as pale as a full moon, eyes as vivid as a horrible nightmare. " I did not ask for you, Thrayon, I ordered your presence. Do not think to much for your self, for truly, you are not much past a feral that one would find on the streets. As for why I have ordered you to my palace, it is because their is a task that I wish you to preform. I wish you and you kabal to cleanse the imperial out fort of Sargosain Gastienagan." Thrayon was both aghast and interested at what the archon had just said. "Such a task would stretch my kabal to its limits, only a great reward would be enough to do a deed like this." Yulliptidon was outraged by the the proposal of a "great reward" by Thrayon, but did not let his anger show, hiding it with a cold smile that hid his evil intentions surprisingly well. The archon was was famous for never telling a lie in his life, but was very fond of veiled double speak, and this was no exception. "Do not worry, Thrayon, you shall receive what you deserve." Thrayon, happy with this outcome, left to carry out Yulliptidons task. Little did he know what was coming. Thrayon had done a thousand evil deeds, and what he deserved was a horrible death equal to to all those he had caused. Yulliptidons smiled. He was going to have fun."

I've been thinking about this answer all day, and I can't pick just one. My FLGS has a sweet stereo system that we use to listen to a fairly extensive vinyl collection, or to various Pandora/Youtube stuff. We listen to metal, 80's pop, rap, prog rock, polka, techno, and just about everything in between. I do tend to associate songs from a couple of albums with 40K, such as Queen's "The Game" and "Welcome to the Real World" by Mr. Mister.
If I had to pick out some specifics though...
"One", by Metallica. It's a song about war. The lyrics are pretty grimdark.
"Seasons in the Abyss", by Slayer. "Frozen eyes stare deep in your mind as you DIIIIIIIEEEEE"
The more I get into IG, the more I think about all the movies that have been made about Vietnam** and how a lot of them use pretty similar (if not the same) songs.
"All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix
"Fortunate Son", Creedence Clearwater Revival
"White Room", Cream
etc.
**In particular, because of Gunnery Sgt. Harker, I keep thinking of Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in Full Metal Jacket. I keep picturing the Harker model standing on the battlefield yelling, "WHO SAID THAT!? WHO THE feth SAID THAT!? Who's the slimy little communist gak, twinkle-toed ladies man down here who just signed his own death warrant?"
Depends on the situation. Klendathu Drop off the Starship Troopers soundtrack goes fairly well with my Valkyries, that's the only thing that specifically comes to mind right now.
Perfect. The name, the picture, and the tone of the music makes it seem like som e sort of futuristic, cyber war that is still dirty and up to ordinary soldiers. I've got the picture (not related to audiomachine in any way) printed up as a poster in my bedroom.
It obviously sounds like the Imperial Guard, and to an extent... the rest of the Imperial forces?
Speaks for itself. YOU HAVE CAPTAIN DIOMEDES! What more could you want: an annoying, bald, angry marine with three long service studs in his forehead? It also has a bit of an Inception tune... gotta love dreaming in a dream in a dream in a dream cause yo in limbo.
40K metal? Both my loves merged together?

Quote from chromedog
and 40k was like McDonalds - you could get it anywhere - it wouldn't necessarily satisfy, but it was probably better than nothing.
