Background: My best friend today is having cancer surgery. I am traveling 4 hours tomorrow to go visit with another friend to wish him well. My best friend has a real draw towards the Black Templars lore/fluff and I wanted to get him one of the models as a get-well gift. (Yes he would enjoy assembly and painting)

i know he would like an Emperor's Champion but after reading about the 3rd War for Armagedon I love Grimaldus. IMO he embodies the strength,resilience and determination that my friend has in his fight with cancer. So, I wanted to get this story out and also ask you folks what would you do if you were in my shoes.

I would also see if you could find someone that makes purity seals for costumes, and have them write a special message, like on how this day so and so bathed in the light of the Emperor and defeated the Heretical forces of Cancer, etc...

and then present that to him

Sorry, I have to clarify it was he who got me into the 40k universe and we both own, and have read the Armageddon/Hellsreach novel.

I'm debating the dual model idea. Depends on finances and honestly, he still has a CSM army to paint. I don't want to add too much to his backlog.

On a more humorous note I told him that depending on how his surgery goes I may inter him in a dreadnaught sarcoph so we can still play 40k.

He will repeatedly tell you: "Even in death,I game"If you do inter him a dreadnought.

Status update: he is 8 hours into his surgery and still doing ok from what the doc's say.

I voted for the Emperors Champion. He is, after all a BT champion.

I was going to suggest grabbing him both, but if money is an issue I'd say get him Grimaldus.

More models in the kit, and they're all gorgeous.

Is he currently able and willing to paint? If not I'd recommend getting it Commisson Painted to the highest quality possible.

OP: I hope your friend makes a swift and decisive recovery.

Update: he is finally out of surgery and is undergoing heat chemo. I haven't been fed much info since then. Counting our blessings be made it out!

Why don't you ask someone to volunteer the commission if possible? I'm sure someone on Dakka would do it depending on your location.

I'd do it if you're willing to ship it to MI but there are definitely better painters on this site.
