I finally broke free of painting Legions (Star Wars variant) and have started on my Legions (LI variant). Pics are a bit crappy but my first sprue of TS infantry is done;

I just multiplied my yearly total of painted minis

WIP, all painted to tabletop condition within three days. I wanted to have a LI / EA compatible force for demonstration games at Ropecon last weekend (ended up running some 20 hours of demos, great time). Very tight schedule, had to cut corners a lot. No flags, decals, proper damage, good NMM and so forth yet and the field guns are missing their whole crews. Still pretty happy with the general outlook.

Sherrypie those look fantastic, like a 'real world' military force with that colour scheme. Love the contrasting colours in that photo with the background and explosions!

That sounds great with the EA demos, did you get many people coming to try out?

I have found Legions has been great to help make people aware of the other versions of Epic, a lot of people were perhaps aware but not at how much of the community, community rules versions etc. were still going and played by the dedicated few.

Thanks Paz, the 4th Home Army of Selen II is indeed meant to be fighting in their home turf's lush and green agri-forests, but you never know when you find yourself in dusty ruins instead.

Meanwhile, gaming of the slapstick kind.

Epic: Armageddon, 3k. The Machine Church met the Tzeentchian hordes of the Lost and the Damned in a battle of thoroughly fumbled command networks and misfortunes, as both sides bled and stumbled forwards hopelessly. Even kicking airman Jones into the empty fuel tank instead failed to get the birds flying. No breakthrough was achieved nor any formations properly destroyed, though the price in blood and oil rose high for everyone on the burning sands. Neither side achieved any real objectives nor was there any meaningful difference between the casualty tiebreakers, ending in a true, futile draw.

While Legions didn't work out for me, or maybe just not yet, the community efforts here are very inspiring.

Finished off a handful of smaller field artillery pieces for the Guard.

I now have enough flyers to field an aerial assault formation. Gonna try it out next game I think. I built all the gun options got the fire raptors, didn’t bother with magnets though, because I’m a tight arse they’ll stick in with blutack. No idea why this pic is upside down

This afternoon making 12 Sicaran’s and painting 30 Terminators 😆

First squadron all built. Next set of four, which I’m building this evening, will have Lascannon sponsons, so I’ll have eight of each sponson loadout including my regular Sicaran chassis.

More progress too, a couple of knights, squadrons of Kratos with commander and some progress on 3rd sprue of infantry.

Doc - I know the miniature hobby has given solace to me during and after hard times, so I hope it will provide the same to you as well.

I am thinking of doing some Blood Angels too as a next project, using the Legions beakies but making them look as much as possible like the old RT and early 2nd edition era Blood Angels, with blue helmets for Support/Devastators, yellow for Assault etc. I know it's not canon but I like doing retro references and bringing things full circle.

In the meantime, I've finished off a small demo/presentation army for a gift for a friend: Great Crusade-era Death Guard. Something he has always wanted in 28mm, but I don't have 5 years and £1000 spare to make an army so he gets Epic scale instead Another friend is doing a Reaver Titan (War Griffins classic paint scheme) and we are putting in a wooden display box and if we can a copy of The Flight of the Eisenstein. The Land Raiders, Dreadnoughts, Baneblade and Thudd Guns are official Legions minis, the larger artillery and come characters are from Vanguard Miniatures and the MKIII infantry are prints from KMFP designs. The bases are Dark Art miniatures - deliberately went with the square ones as I thought it suited ranks of Death Guard marching forward, and also to evoke old Epic.

More work done. Also managed to get the other bits of the turrets done, as the first go over dried pretty quickly.

Lunchtime tomorrow I’ll smash out some metallics. Hoping to get the hulls and at least one set of turrets done by Beetlejuice 2 time tomorrow.

Just topping up my Lords to 2.5k for an event in a few weeks, a few reinforcements who will be joined by some Sabres. The 'Xiphon', head-poles and decorative corpses are from Vanguard Miniatures
