There's gonna be a lot more than just pirates, the main theme is a port town and I'm taking this opportunity to introduce sets that should have been released a long time ago

Yeah, but why does pirate and similar theme strike me more of XVII+ century? That would also mean that possible buildings etc. will look too modern for what I want (basically GW Bretonnia style). I hope I am wrong but unless you tell us more or show some pics/sketches I have strong suspicions it will not cover my needs.

That generally is my problem with Pirates for fantasy settings. In a generally medieval setting, you suddenly get ships, clothes, and everything from centuries later. It would be so much more interesting to use 13th century ships and the like. But of course, that goes against the generic pirate aesthetic.

PM pushed to tomorrow along with the next update.

Archon's Deuslair has some pirates and sea creatures from their Sea and Thunder expansion. I figure a dock and possibly pirate terrain set would be part of the next crowdfunding project. The pirate lair could be designed to fit into the cave terrain set.

Reaper Bones IV - VI have their docks and pirates Dreadmere and Brinewood miniatures and terrain I wouldn't mind Archon making compatible terrain and miniatures, either!

And from the latest Archon video it looks (judging by the WIP ship shown) like that is exactly what will be there :(

AMA updates

- PM was pushed to the 27th as they are still working on the final versions of the Prismacast schemes (adding more colour/detail) and they have to solve an issue with paint fading on the edges. New versions are better so they have to go back and revise the original schemes they thought they had finalised.
- over 20 sprues finished.
- shipping January at the earliest.
- new projects timeline shown with Starcide in Q2 2025
- Porthaven - Early WIP of ship shown, modular, grid system, 2 or 3 levels high, depending on how they do the Captains quarters. Cost "half price of competitors". Will have cannons, barrels, crew minis. Needs 11 or 12 sprues. Top level removable to access inside. Prismacast unlikely. Sails are mock up only and might be a different material (like cloth) to keep costs and tools down - not a fan of this but HIPS sails would take up several more tools so I see were they are coming from.

I think they may have jumped the gun on the prismacast KS if they keep redoing stuff because they're learning as they go.

I probably am late to this, but I'm very curious about several of the items on this timeline. Of course, I love HOMM, so more of that is always good and Bethesda has some interesting things as well. Of course, my old love remains Morrowind so something inspired by that would be amazing and should give some pretty interesting monsters and the like.

Porthaven can also be very interesting, especially if there are sets/pledges that avoid the early modern pirate stuff and focus more on other nautical themes.

Only catching up with the AMA now.

General
- Steamforge have been in contact about doing Warmachine plastics but Archon have their own game lined up (Invoker) and may not have have spare capacity so it looks like a no but not final yet.

Caves

- Height expansion sprue is ready for tooling, renders shown. Uses the same type of stacking system as Woodhaven.

Porthaven

- New concept/artwork shown
- Further WIP of the ship (note the people on the deck and on the middle mast for scale). Ship is about 4 times the size of the airship. Still looking at options for sails if plastic they will probably be rolled up.
- Campaign is around 80% minis and 20% terrain. The ship can be swapped for the minis.

They already said it should cost half.

For me the dealbreaker will be an obvious 1" grid, hate that gak.

Half price would be amazing. I too hate the 1 inch grid, but I'm guessing it will have one. Like puddle bases it is a sign of being stuck in the past imo. Makes pieces seem more like toys and less like dioramas/terrain.

If they really feel like they need the 1" grid, making the deck pieces reversible would be clever...

Yes, I agree. In buildings, you can kind of camouflage grids, but on other terrain it just looks off to me and often is pretty difficult to get rid of. Even when I play games like DnD I tend to not use grids and we measure instead. It's just easier and feels more natural.

PM open!

Post what you got and what you're on the fence on!

Prospector Pledge might be the best cost per sprue?

Got a Dwarven Warrior pledge. Prepainted Caves, Demonic Caves, and their subthemes.
Cores: 2x 15 sprues = 30 sprues
Subthemes: 6x 5 sprues = 30 sprues
Regular SG's: 19 sprues
Super SG's: Various

Or... maybe the Prospector Pledge with prepainted legacy.

Regular SG add-on: 19 for $89 = $4.50 per sprue.
Legacy add-on: 11 for $55 = $5 per sprue.

*****

More number-crunching thoughts...

If you want more SG's, then consider adding a $99 Surveyor Pledge (unpainted Regular SG, SuperSG's, and Core) vs. the $89 Regular SG pledge.

2x Painted Miner Pledge = 2x Core + 6x Subthemes + 2x SG (Regular and large figures) + "One per backer" = 2x $230 = $460
1x Painted Warrior Pledge = 2x Core + 6x Subthemes + SG (Regular and large figures) + "One per backer" = $415

So, for $45 plus additional shipping, you get an additional set of SG's, both Regular sets and large figures.
Not clear which large figures are "one per backer", though someone on the FB fan group said the Balor was also "one per backer", besides the Minotaur and Ettin.

****

Shipping!

1x Miner, Pre-Painted: $37
2x Miner, Pre-Painted: $57, same account
1x Dwarven Warrior, $54

So for the "One per backer", you're paying 2x $37 - $54 = $20.

I'll wait for more prismacast samples tbh. Got about 300€ pledged, I'll try not to add more.

I was a lot less impressed this time, still got to decide if the stretch goals are really worth moving up from my current add on minis only pledge...

it will certainly make better value but i'm not really excited to do so

I went full Ziggy Pig during the campaign and got a painted King of the Mountain pledge, painted Miner pledge and abominations minis pack. Got one of every theme and 2x caves, 2x goblin, 2x combat arena, and 2x carnage tract.

I'm still bummed about the lack of Belly of the Beast anything in the stretch goals.

It really was the pre-painted option that pushed me to go all in. Might grab another miner depending on how it looks in the pledge manager.

Which items were "One per backer"?
* Gelatinous Cube: One per back if you followed
* Minotaur: One per returning backer.
* Ettin: One per backer, Community goal
* Balor: One per backer (???)

I'm thinking of making two pledges for one account, so I'm checking to see which SG's I'm getting.

That’s the list AFAIK. With shipping being per pledge level I considered making 2 separate pledges for the Surveyor and Dwarven warrior pledges I’ve picked but in the end I don’t need another Balor and Ettin so I left it all on the same account. Only added 2 tier sets and another mushroom sprue to my original pledge for now. I might come back and add a few bits later (you can add more after closing the pledge) but I’m good with what I’ve ordered if I don’t.

If the ship comes in around $100 (well $123 with tax) I might just put any other money I had intended to spend aside for that.

Link to FB video of Legacy painted sets: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1029337988454897

Also: "Travis Yocum: Jarek mentioned in stream the Prismacast machine was needed to paint all the legacy sets for rapid shipping so they couldn't just flip it to paint the new things yet but after they finished those which the last update said they did they would start test painting Caves sets and should have examples soon.

Archon sale at MM. Free Wolfdrake at $59. Free shipping at $99.

update 21

You will have plenty of time to get everything sorted, as the Pledge Manager will be open until 13/12/2024. Legacy shipping will begin on 01/10/2024. If you order Legacy Shipping after this date, your Legacy Shipment will begin two weeks after completing the order, so you can have some caves to play with for Christmas.

but if you used stretch pay it must be paid in full before shipping.
