Hey folks!
You can read my other battle reports for this event here:
Round One
Round Two
Round Three
Round Four
Round Five
Coming out of Round One, I've got a 13 point victory under my belt, and am in the milling middle of the pack; I'm not out of the running, but not leading the pack yet either. Round One and Two were both paired based on initial comp score, and I found myself facing off against Blackmoor! Legendary Blackmoor, with his famous Eldar battle reports; I'd gotten fair warning that I was going to get trounced by his foot eldar, and I show up to the table and see that he's got....CHAOS! Given that we were both fighting in the name of the ruinous powers, I suggested that we instead team up and take down Hulksmash or Reecius, and we did.
The End.
Just kidding.
Purple People Eaters:
HQ: Lelith Hespirax + Wych Retinue + Raider
Troop1 - Troop6: Units of 5 Wyches, Succubus+Agonizer, Raider. Couple squads had blasters, couple raiders had horrorfexes. All wyches in the army had haywire grenades.
Elite 1 - Elite 3: Units of 5 Warriors, each with a Dark Lance, each with a raider. Two squads with a sybarite, one with a Nightmare Doll, one with a Crucible of Malediction.
Heavy 1 - Heavy 3: Three Ravagers, all with Disintegrators.
I brought a little bag of washers, and each washer was labeled twice on both sides in magic marker 1-6 so that I could denote my wych powers - I haven't thought of a better system yet. As you look through this and other of my battle reports from this tournament, that's what those washers are.

I won the roll and decided to deploy and go first. Dark Lances are 36", but if I pick a side I'm inviting my opponent to huddle up in the other corner and outrange me with lascannons for a turn. Instead, I lined up across my deployment zone. My raiders in front give cover to those behind; where possible those are empty (warrior raiders, with warriors deployed out). If the initiative ever gets stolen from me it will hurt badly, but I take whatever precautions I can.
Here's a side shot of the table after my deployment.
Blackmoor deploys in response, picking a flank and while not exactly bulking up, he protects what needs protecting; one squad of marines in the building as a stationary lascannon/plasma platform, Obliterators up top to range across the field, his second obliterator unit behind a rhino, and his daemon units potentially getting cover depending on the angle we're looking from.
Dark Eldar Turn1:
I move up the field 12". My hope was to open his rhinos, then use my ravagers to....well, ravage the contents. Instead, all my dark lances on the right side of my table whiff! EVERY ONE! I got a shaken and stunned result on the right rhino, and that was it. Without anything to drop my ravager templates onto effectively, one targets his obliterators behind his rhinos and whiffs, while the center one targets his untouched rhino and wrecks it. On the left side of the table, between my remaining raiders out of range of his rhinos open up on his overwatching obliterators and instakill two - the ravager gets a wound on the third. I also throw out my Crucible of Malediction, and all his psykers make their saves. *sigh* One day someone important will die.
Chaos Turn1:
Blackmoor doesn't move much - he's biding his time. He reaches back across the table with his own lascannons and plasma; his obliterators actually miss twice and the third one stuns a ravager, he also weapon destroys another ravager and wreck's Lelith's ride. There are several bonus points tied up
HQ stuff this game - smart move for Blackmoor to take her raider down. Lelith and her retinue spill out of their burning wreck and....trip over and fall to the ground. *sigh* Pinned.
Blackmoor also disembarked his shaken/stunned raider to get some shots downrange on me with his bolters - his thousand sons moved into the crater to get cover, although they had 4+ invulnerable saves anyway.
Dark Eldar Turn2:
Everything that can moves 6-12" up the field to optimize firing angles.
Wyches boil out of 4 of my raiders; two are going into the bottom of the building to get the chaos marines, and the other two are picking up the marines that spilled out of his wrecked rhino. I open fire for another round of whiffs - all the raiders on the left side needing 3+ to hit, 2+ to wound his wounded obliterator, and I get 1 wound through, which he makes a cover save against. On the right side of the table, every dark lance whiffs against his rhinos. My ravagers open up on the Thousand Sons and beat on them brutally. The sorceror lives (he'll flee for his rhino next turn).
My wyches jump into the building and pull his chaos marines into the bottom floor to fight.
On the other side of the board, two more of my wych squads boil into his marines and take down four. I think he killed one in return.
Chaos Turn2:
Blackmoor's summoned greater daemon explodes out of his aspiring champion I'm in combat with - leaving one of my wych squads out of combat. At the same time, his lesser daemons land right next to my wyches. Mother Mary of Jesus mingling with Tzeench while Khaine video-tapes it, Blackmoor is slinging a warp-timed daemon prince, a greater daemon, a unit of horrors into the combat I've got going on with his space marines. His obliterators don't make it out of reserve.
His other daemon prince is headed over to join the other combat. For giggles, his obliterators light up a couple more raiders; I think he exploded one of my ravagers here. His lone sorceror jumps into his living rhino for protection.
Glorious close combat begins. I'm I6, and his daemon princes are too - so while he'll get to brutalize me, I'll get to strike back. The lesser daemons seem the easiest target, so I split my attacks up as best as I can - I three space marines and 5 lesser daemons. In return, he got 2 wyches from one squad and four from the other - the succubus thankfully made her invulnerable save.
That left him with four units in combat with me....and he lost by three in each of them. His greater daemon took two wounds, his daemon prince took two wounds, his chaos marines finished themselves off, and his lesser daemons committed ritual suicide - leaving me in combat just with his greater daemon on one side and his daemon prince on the other.
In the building combat, I ignored the daemon prince and worked over the chaos marines - killing them all. His daemon prince ended up taking two wounds from lost combat here as well, giving him a close combat round where he took 6 wounds to his daemon lords that I didn't have to put there.
Dark Eldar Turn 3:
Lelith got unpinned and rolled well enough to get up into combat with one of her greater daemons so that I could get the
HQ vs
HQ bonus. My shooting phase finally took down the remaining sniper in the belltower; by now he's absorbed 8-10 dark lance shots. The other rhino predictably dodges my dark lance shots from the other side of the table, but the ravagers over there put a dent into his obliterators and they fall before the combined wrath of all the firepower I have to offer.
Lelith joins a combat, and between all the wyches down there, both daemon princes and the greater daemon fall.
Chaos Turn 3:
Blackmoor has a rhino with a sorceror inside left on the table, and attempts a last ditch effort - his obliterators come out of reserve, and he attempts to drop them on his board edge: I have three wych squads in the open, and if he can roll on target, he's pretty much guaranteed with his flamers to take three of my killpoints in one shot. He scatters off the table, rolls a "destroyed" mishap, and concedes the game.
I ended with a 20 point massacre. Blackmoor was a capable opponent and a good sport - the fact that I got to go first combined with the mission (benefiting
MSUs), combined with the fact that my army is designed to kill
MEQs worked against him. Hopefully we'll play again and his famous Eldar will b
