Yup- Microsol, solvaset, etc are wonderful products!
I first got acquainted with them applying decals to the sides of model railroad cars (HO scale); as fine as the detail was on those- especially the rivets- you could get the decal to snug right down. Your application is so good you can't tell there is a decal present!

Thanks guys! Yeah I can't believe I was doing transfers with only water and varnish before like a madman.
Reivers are more or less finished. I didn't want to put as much effort into them, because... they're shooty reivers... are they really gonna hit the table anytime soon?
Flesh Tearers,10th Company Vanguard, Squad 1. I am actually pretty happy with the company/squad role badges. I put a black transfer on the black shoulder and then outlined it in white.

Thanks Gobert! Looking forward to painting more Nids.
But first - have to pay for my sins with more Necron Warriors!
Blitzed my way through most of the process already; purple is done, green is done, bone is done, just have to shade and highlight the silver, than do weathering, finish the base, and OSL.

Thanks Paddy! Nothing special on the OSL - I just do glazed shades, using more repeated layers and brighter layers closer to the light source. Maybe soon I'll experiment with using airbrushed OSL, but I'm still not very confident with the airbrush yet.
Finished warriors though!
The great painting journey continues...

Altogether I think I own about 5000 pts of Necrons (obviously not all painted, and a sizeable amount barely painted to Battle Ready). I also own about 4800 pts of Space Marines, but most aren't even Battle Ready yet.
Complete change up time. It's time to try out painting some sneaky marshy orks! I've done the skin, scars, and lips. You can see my one "block out the colours to see how it works" guy as well to see how the larger scheme will go; brown leather cloth, armour and weapons will be black drybrushed metallic, and the shields will be a dull red drybrushed metallic. Very excited to watch these develop!

Thanks Olthannon! Skin is basically slapchop with some extra highlights for muscle definition.
The metallics and shield all came out great. This is a promising project.

Wow! They are coming together really quickly and looking most excellent too. Some of these new minis really are made for slapchop as you’re demonstrating so well.
Quite an impressive points haul on the Necrons (and space marines), seems like a good milestone for an army pic too?!

Thanks gobert! Actually I'm just finishing up touch-ups on a unit... I still have a lot that's only barely table-top playable, but maybe worth doing a "state of the army" post.
Gutrippaz are finished! I had so much fun with these. I played with some light water-effects for the first time to get some murky swamp puddles. I need to do more shaping to be able to do actual banks for the puddles to make them even more realistic next time.

Just a quick update on a unit of Lychguard I did ages ago. They had metallic scythe blades, now I've updated them to be the same black-green with OSL as my more recent units.

State of the Necrons:
Top shelf:
My Monolith, Night Scythe/Doom Scythe (needs finishing), 10 Lychguard with scythes (now updated), 5 Lychguard with shields (need another 5), 20 Warriors with flayers, and Zandrekh and Obyron (need rebasing to use as generic Overlords; Obyron I might model some special effects around him to use him as an Overlord with Translocation Shroud), and an old Heavy Destroyer (which I need to rebase and then just use as a normal Lokhust Destroyer).
Middle shelf:
6 Canoptek Scarab bases (I have I think at least another 12 unpainted), 5 Deathmarks, 5 kitbashed Flayed Ones.
from the back: 10 Warriors with flayers (need rebasing to 32mm), 20 Warriors with reapers, 10 Immortals with tesla, 2 Cryptothralls, old Szeras model (need to repaint the staff replacement and then use him as whatever type of cryptek), and Lord Hasmoteph the Resplendent (Overlord with staff of light and reanimation orb).
Bottom shelf:
This shelf is pretty much all painted to just-below-battle-ready (I don't like putting basing materials on until I'm not gonna be splashing paint around because I find it difficult to tidy up on those surfaces).
Ghost ark, 2 Lokhust Destroyers, Lokhust Heavy Destroyer with gauss, 3 Wraiths (need rebasing), a damaged Reanimator, 5 Tesla Immortals, 5 Gauss Immortals, and a pile of characters. Imotekh, Orikan, Plasmancer, Chronomancer, Technomancer, an old Cryptek model, a Royal Warden, and 4 Overlord models (one off-camera to the left, oops, but it's just the classic voidscythe model, nothing fancy).
Oh, and a Nightbringer proxy.

I don't have super high motivation to do most of the rebasing - I have a large number of properly based Warriors, and 3 Wraiths isn't much on the tabletop, need a block of 6 to make it worth it, so...
Speaking of having a large number of properly based Warriors.
Let's paint another 10.
Primed silver and purple done. This time, put a few old Scarabs as basing decoration (to use them up, more or less).

I'm in a Crusade league right now running Silver Tide themed Necron lists. At 1000 pts I was running 40 warriors. The challenge is how high can I push it without completely losing.
