Subject: Plastic Techmarine with Servo Harness Conversion

Finally finished off a little project that I've had on the workbench for a while now. While the current Techmarine model is rather pretty, it's a little too over-the-top for my tastes. I wanted to create a Servo-harnessed Techmarine that was a little more low-key, with a more dynamic pose to make up for the lack of bling. Well, several hours and a large bundle of plastic tubing later, I have a Techmarine with a Thunder Hammer and Servo Harness. As always, comments and criticisms welcome.

I like! Only comment would be that the servo-arms seem a little *too* thin. I feel like it's lacking in some sort of hydraulics around the arms. Eitherway, it's still quite a nice conversion.

nice base! i agree, he looks a lil simple and not so techy. great start! the back of the backpack is sexy. if you could cary that detail into the arms anf toso you would have a masterpiece without overdoing it.

fantastic job, I wish I could do that with plastic tubing.
I agree the arms need something more, most GW bionics have a cable hanging under the metal hydrolics, can you add some to the servo arms?

I agree with Kyoto, some guitar wire cables running to the ends of the arms is just what this needs. It wouldn't need any other details, that would be the little bit of realism to put it over the top. It's seriously a great job as is, but the wires would get that slightly slap-dash and dangerous look to your Imperial tech.
Great base too, really cool all around.

That's funny, as I was thinking the servo-arms look a little too thick/chunky, though I know what a pain in the arse it would be to get FW style thin armatures, even with metal. I, however, do agree, they need some coiled guitar string cables/hydraulics. It's still a fine looking Techmarine.

I agree with everyone (we're all a big happy family on this one): The first thing I thought when I looked at the picture was that the arms needed some cables hanging off 'em.
In the 41st millenium it's been proven that the Adepticus Mechanicus are wholly incapable of utilizing enclosed wiring (besides Power and Terminator armor, of course).
But excellent beyond that. If I didn't hate marines with a passion I'd probably bid on it.

Actually, I deliberately stayed away from adding extra wires... I wanted him to look lke he could actually move in this suit. All the excess wires that GW usually has hanging off servo arms and the like serve to make them look far too slow and ponderous to be any use as a weapon.
At least that's how I see it.

Beautiful and skillfully executed, as I expect from you. In terms of things I'd fix- I'd like to have seen the hanging cables ribbed (and not just for your pleasure) and the skull bit from the heavy-bolter body with a mechanicus cog around it. Also I'd prefer to see the hands grasping that handle a little tighter Lastly, if you're going to add some cabling to the arms please do some armoured stuff- not the soft ribbed stuff GW uses

Wow. Just saying that it is superior to GW stuff really doesn't do your work justice. That being said I think it does need a little more bling. The knees are prominent in a running model so would suggest an adeptus marking or something there. Just detail up a few of the flatter spaces. I think you can do that without going OTT. Perhaps cables on th eoutside o fthe thighs. Right no wthe armor doesn't look heavy enough to support the pack (though your pack is way lighter looking than the GW one). I will break from the rest of the dakka family and say that I dont think you need extra cable. That would lead to the servo arms being way too heavy looking in comparison to the model. ender502

I think you have a good balance of workability and coolness.
He looks good and like he can still kill things without getting half his bling/wires shot off and caught on things etc.
A great build.

Great conversion insaniak... beautiful work on the base and I like the pose a lot. Like most above, I agree with the need to add cables and/or exposed wiring to beef of the appearance of the servo arms.
