Just I case you missed it the black library has had some free (yes free) night lords stories this week. Red has copied it over into the black library thread in news and rumors. It's Horus Heresy era night lords dealing with Istavan IV dropsite. Actually one story broken up into five snippets, but it has all the gang in it.

Yea I've read the first three so far, quite enjoyable

I agree that it needs lightning, but you are right. There is very little surface area. May I suggest painting it on the knee pads and possibly the forearms. Not a lot of it mind, maybe a thin line or two per area. Just a suggestion.

Overall, the model looks great. Love the cloak.

Night Haunter looks fantastic. I especially love his cloak. There is a tiny bit of gold crept onto a blue area on his chest that bugs me though. Could his hair have a bit more highlighting? That sounds like more criticism than praise, but it is not meant to be - it is fantastic.

Does the Xyphon have a baby impaled on its base? You sick feth. I love it.

The marines look great. I particularly like their weapons and the red effect.

Everything about the Dread is great. The gore is awesome and the skulls look great.

That impaled baby is really f'ed up . Almost too offensive; which is suitable for a force of the Nigh Lords.

I like the photoshoot backdrop, simple and effective. But i feel the entire model/army would benefit from a colder tonal photography. Seeing back pics as well, i assume this is your liking/style, but i feel it obscures some details you've spent time on

Other than that, keep them coming!

I would agree on the colder tone, I try not to change the colour setting on the camera because it's also used to shoot video and our lighting is a mix of warm and cool so we get a bit of a gradient across the table from edge to edge and shooting into the walls gives off a nice setting sun look. You can see in the 4th pic it's far less yellow, that unit was at the far right end of the table closer to fluorescent lights.

But yeah I definitely agree , for the night lords a cooler tone would look much better. Skimask is currently paintig up some armoured forge world monstrosity I believe so we'll have a chance to try lighting them a bit cooler.

Hey yea, I've fixed the gold on blue area for his chest since then, but unfortunately wasn't able to spot it before photos were taken As for his hair its supposed to look very lusterless and lank, he can't be rocking any highlights lol

I sure do, well a bunch of the guys in the photos still need details done on them, so they'll be more spiffy soon (as well as 5 more guys who need to be built)

So it's been a very long time since I've updated (or even hobbied) this thread. Right now I've finished all the pseudo finished guys from the last photos, as well as doing purple gemstones on all the models with lightning-and-orb chest plates. However, my favorites are the three above as I really like how the terror markings turned out, though I'm sure I've seen it before on the internet (probably on Bolter and Chainsword to be honest); still have to think up markings for 4 more guys.

Hopefully I'll soon have a few terminators done soon

I love that contemptor tossing away the corpse. This new model looks great too.

Brilliant to see the Night Lords back ! The body count and the torture knifes on the plasma gun fellas are very nice touches. It will be very interesting to see terminators too...

So Ive had these old raptors for a while and have started painting one of them now, only problem is my lack of black and silver paint, black wash and glue. This means I just have the main body painted right now, but I need help on the scheme for this one.





As you can see there's a lotttttt of red and bronze; while I do like the bronze, I'm thinking of making the red tabard black when I get the paint. I'm thinking maybe once I do that, the blood effects will pop more. Really appreciate some suggestions on this one
