The lips on Warlord's new bases ironically work best with metal figures or plastics that have an integral base, so you can fill them in to more easily "get rid of" the little hill that the integral bases create. My only gripe is that Warlord's new bases are more expensive than the Renedra rounds that they used to sell, despite the fact that WLG now produce their own. At least I can buy the Renedra ones elsewhere still.

Come to think of it, my Hail Caesar Britons I got over the holidays didn't come with a bases sprue. I didn't think of it at the time, but that is strange; usually you get a sprue with 20x20, 20x40, 40x40 etc bases.

Am I seriously the only one with more than a few hundred extra bases? (gw style)
Granted, after I base up my Bones and a few other things I will be down a bit but still..
I'm doing a Arkham Knight thing and the modern soldiers are PERFECT for the militia guys. I had picked up some heads from Mad Robot a while back that will fill any gaps and bam.. too good to not do.
Oh.. better see if Jez still has time to ship out an APC before he starts working on Ep VIII
Also.. Do we know if the biker gang will be in the initial release wave? If so I'm going to be stupidly broke when this hits.

Just a heads up, if your Arkham Knight plan involves the Batman minis, the WGF/WLG will be very small in comparison.

I've been scouring Heroclix for iconic characters and sculpts that are workable. Though I do plan on eventually playing BMG I will have to work my way over to that and the Marvel game has captured my ever-so-easily distracted attention.

Has there been any discussion yet about how the game mechanics will work for Project Z? Or who is writing the rules?

I think I covered those with sets of bases from Victrix which work pretty well.

I have no idea what my bases situation is ultimately like. I've got a lot of unpainted models, and I've bought a lot of extra bases, but then with the shuffling of all 28mm infantry to various forms of 25mm rounds, and deciding to move my painted and unpainted marines to 32mm bases, and then the 25mm rounds that this in turn frees up.. if I were ever to finish painting all of my models, I'm sure there'd be a shortfall somewhere.

Another preview is up from the Wargames Illustrated site:

It has pictures of all the sprues, including updated male zombies and modern military, and also a hero on a bike.

Awesome, the military sprue seems to be up to 1 legs/torsos per sprue, at the loss of the bases but by the looks of it no weapons.

From a quick comparison of the old and new modern military sprues, it looks like they've doubled the number per sprue from 4 to 8, just by removing the bases. It doesn't look like any weapons or options were removed.

That's badass. The military sprue is way more diverse than just a simple military sprue. The gear is for both 1st world type armies as well as the more AK/ RPG type of terrorist or third world style forces. With a little work it could even be a SWAT or other specialized response type team.
Those bikers.. I'm seeing a bunch of male/female pairings. I'm not sure if they are meant to be single or dual riders on the bikes or if either gender can be the rider or what but that is a LOT of plastic packed into those kits!
The new zombies are very usable. The bases being on board are meh but whatever.. It works.
Was there supposed to be something different about the male survivor sprue? That's the only set from the range that I own and I didn't see anything different.
All in all... fantastic and versatile stuff coming at us. We were already spoiled for choices and it just keeps getting better

I think they do.. it's hard to say from that image but image 5.. I see what looks like a few helmet only, a few helmet/mask, and 2 what I think are mask.. then some hats and regular/bare heads.
Am I off on that?

I;'m sure the soldiers will just have a standalone sprue or three of the Warlord round bases included. Nothing to worry about.

Well this just looks fantastic.
And for me, a far more attractive option than the TWD game is looking at the moment.
Those modern military plastics are going to be a massive seller that's for sure, there will just be so much you can use them with.
Hopefully a preview proper in the next Wargames Illustrated mag.

I love the biker hero sprue , top center piece looks like a shotgun in a holster for the bike, but the edge of the holster looks like a chainsword , so there's a chance of a chainsword-shotgun.
