I think that if you painted the rims of the bases black you would solve your issue of having way too much red. however thats just my opinion, do what you want

Checkers

Following gitz's tutorial i'm adding some checkers to my boyz. Really enjoy doing this and looks great to, i for see many checkers in my army to come. (photos not got the last stage in).

Also painting continues on the trucks, fast tracked the old one so i can use it as a practice for the bull. I was painting very solid colours and careful block and not coming up with the depth I wanted so have thinned down the paints and that seems to have done the trick.

Cheers Gitz, i feel they really add something, will work it into my vehicles as well. Still working on adding some glyphs.

Some how the idea of gambling orks has swam into my mind so i may try and do some die and card glyphs along with lots off teef obviously.

Glyph plates sound good!

Boyz squad one finished/glyphs added

So finally got a squad off red skinned Golgothan Orks together after adding the glyphs. I think they look the part even though i'm using mono-pose models and are therefore kind of a tester. But it's a start and it sets the army off for a feel of things to come, hopefully.

But yeah hope you think the same and i'll show them in a little more detail mainly focusing on the glyphs.

!st up the boss nob with PK, just added some teef & jaws to him to signify wealth & leadership.

Rather fond of the old teef/triangle glyphs as they mean not only wealth which my clan is fond off, but also blood, like Golgothan sand. Also its got a reminiscence to the tiger the soldiers seem to decorate there weapons with in the Vietnam war, and some older models. Which although hasn't much relevance i think they look dam cool

Then i tried to add some bomb glyphs, 1st attempt which ive used before looked a bit like a fish so the redesigned one works much better with the ww1 style split fins.

Next up i tried to do a dice glyph as i mention before i want to work gambling into them some how.

Finally, did the next layer of gray on the truck and started did the reds. (more triangles).

Your camera did not focus enough, if you have a mobile or goose neck lamp, shedding light on them helps the camera get that crisper image, just to help with hints. Looking good otherwise with the work so far!

Glyphs are definitely a nice add. The dice and final bomb version are both excellent.

Looking brilliant bud. Really effective with the glyphs'. Transfer well to vehicles as well.

I'm diggin' that truck, stonned_astartes (and the fundamental idea of red orks of course). Keep the great work up!

Then suddenly I saw it. With only a slight churning to mark its rise to the surface, the thing slid into view above the dark waters. Vast, Polyphemus-like, and loathsome, it darted like a stupendous monster of nightmares to the monolith, about which it flung its gigantic scaly arms, the while it bowed its hideous head and gave vent to certain measured sounds. I think I went mad then.

Very nice adding dings and damage. But you can never have too many Trukks

stonned_astartes,

Damage on the Truk makes it more like an Ork vehicle. Were you going to add some red dust to areas where it would congregate like over fenders, the deck, etc?

Cheers,

CB

Cheers man! it is coming along nicely isn't.

Got the metal base coated tonight, need to rust it up as well. Might have time tomorrow. Was also think of checker plateing one of the layered front plates and painted one red, to help the laying stand out, not sure if it will be checkers over load though.

Found some time to finish the metal parts. The vision slits didn't work in just black so added the blue to suggest windows.
