OH-I Wanna get out of here

I think that for the plates with a green/brown wash, and bronze underpinnings would look interesting.

Bronze you say! I hadn't thought of that :-) like a dark gold perhaps? then I can time save and wash the lot with an umber vallejo wash? and as the army painter now make paints in droppers 100% colour match with the primers i can highlight the edges back up easily!

I really like the idea of SkeleCrons. I liked the black. & white scheme that was WD a couple months ago, but now that you mention Necrotic Flesh, I think that's the way to go. A green wash make them look truly rotten. And I like the bronze idea very much. Add some verdigris through a turquoise wash, and you might be able to tie the two together. Make 'em realy decrepit and run down.

Meh, Honda. All I can say.

I like the dark metal to offset the bright armor. To much of one or the other is, well, to much.

Actually Nerd has just got his "mic-and-speakers" to use with skype, it took a while to arrive to his eh, dusty village but finally he has one.

What I would like to know however are two things:
How much the postal service charged for such a big and heavy package and...
How did they fit an usb device onto a brass trumpet horn?

Maybe in nerds village they got the slim "modern" version?
Nerd: I suggest you go for the stereo "mic-speakers" seen here in your village catalogue:

Finally an update! I managed to start and finish my Contemptor Dreadnought yesterday! so lets get started on the process eh! first I went to bed thinking about how i was going to paint him which got me right in the paint mode for my Nerd cave! so i woke up with the hunger of needing a brush in my hand which i haven't had for a month or so now! and boy did it feel good to paint again!

i started by undercoating him as usual with the army painter dragon red primer (no pic sorry) then went on to do the base coat of each colour he was going to have on him, so boltgun metal, snakebite leather, denheb stone, and snakebite/burnished gold:

Next I worked on the gold by washing with devlan mud and then applying pure burnished gold, and the bone parts i mixed the army painter leather brown with bleached bone and started working it up:

I then added mithril silver to burnished gold and worked it to a soft gold on all parts, careful when adding mithril though as it can overpower the gold with very little paint

after I had done all the details i worked on the armour treating it like a big marine spending a little more time on the metal parts to make them stand out:

And finally here he is all finished in a day! about 6 hours on and off and i am quite happy with the result, I'd love to know what you all think? it's felt like years since I've painted and i actually had to remind myself of my method!

I'm now working on my drop pods!

Beautiful model Damo and an excellent step-by-step to go along with it. Very impressed that you can make a model look that good, that quickly. I just love the way the ribbon and the heads of the double-eagle stand out. Really gives a good central focal point to draw the eye.

I think the lighting on the table didn't do the red justice until the black backdrop pix comes in. I like the gold parts. Shiny.

Thanks so much guys! I know i've been a bit quiet lately so I really wanted to finish something to get myself back in the groove and also show you i'm not dead yet! and I was pretty happy with him when he was finished, I really just wish that red was easier to photograph! It's so hard to show what the actual colour is like but it's nice I promise

I was so inspired by doing something that i also managed to finish my 3 drop pods! they're not as good as i would like but they're passable for playing with, i realised I need to do a bit of work on the bolters inside the pods but I'm sure you'll forgive me! I also didn't add the restraints inside as i just don't like them in there and i can imagine the central guidance system telescoping down to allow a dread to fit this way!

Hmmm, three drop pods and three dreadnoughts! coincidence? i don't think so! next up i think it's sternguard time and then onto the FW Chappy dread!

Contemptor looks fantastic NF! You've done a great job highlighting up to the yellow on the edges. I can see you put in more effort than the normal hard edge lining. Might want to give the bad boy a name on the front of his scroll

Thanks Eggy, I haven't thought of a suitably epic or friend/family related name for him yet :-) my other characters have names of my mates and my chaplain is named after my dad, it makes the games more fun when my dad beats the snot out of a couple of sang guard!

Hey guys i just need a bit of input from you yet again! :-)

since painting my Contemptor and using my pale gold in my force a bit lately I've grown quite fond of it, would you think it will look good as the 'metal' parts of my necron force? i'd do the main plates and armour in the necrotic flesh colour, so nice and ceramic looking but all the joints etc. in the light gold? otherwise i'll just stick to the age old 'boltgun' shades ;-)

should be able to start them monday.....
