Contemptor's are epic, especially nerd'y ones! I really love the ;pose, and the paint is awesome =) Good job mate.

Good responses always seem to spur me on to more painting! and seeing as how everyone seems to like what I'm jumping back into I better show you some w.i.p photo's right?

thought I better make a start on my Flesh Eaters assault squad and primed/washed and laid down the first red highlight on all of them, I used agrax earthshade for the first time too, it's not bad and goes on very smoothly from the pot, I found i had to make my coverage a bit thicker to shade it as I like but it's nice so far:



Next up is a little bit of necron love I made me some scarab bases using Puppetswar robotic beetles, they are so cute! and not bad quality either, a few broken legs but for the use of them it doesn't matter much at all, I wanted to give them differing heights and angles to appear as if they were swarming along the board:






And i also made a start on my Necron Lord of the Silent Scream! looking good so far he is slightly more green irl but you can clearly see the route i plan to take with them, something quick and easy that looks good and a bit different than usual, I will only probably paint the gold on larger or more regal models and leave the main force with boltgun shades:







That's all today I'll try and get at least all the armour on my assault squad painted tomorrow and finish the Lord too!

Love the work on your lord Nerdy. My son and I discussed the ceramic look before deciding on our current scheme (I think I nixed it for being not conducive to mass-production painting.)

Of course you'll get first pick! which means I need to do a decent job in case you get them one day! I better go finish the Lord now so i can update laters today!

That contemptor and the drop pods are fantastic! I will probably find myself coming back to your blog for the occasional bit of inspiration and a good kick to get myself back to work on my own marine army!

Lord finished! not quite how I wanted the dilapidated vestments of aeons past to look, but I had to use what paint i had for it and it turned out o.k imo now i've done him I know how to approach the rest of the Necron force i have, I can say i'm really looking forward to buying some Wraiths to do! I think 6 will suffice with 4 coils? should look pretty good with the scheme! so will a couple of doom Scythes and Spyders!

Too bad you live in the middle of no where and have to rely on pygmies to get your internet transmissions out, other wise my Boyz would love to add some more trophies to their banners. And that Contemptor looks the gak, I wasnt sure if I liked that mini or not, but the way you posed and painted it, I think you gave me that nudge into liking them.

Cron Lord looks great NF. Crons are so good on table top now.

Ah GiraffeX, good to see you again, I also (without trying to toot my own horn) like the metallic on him, I was considering doing all the warriors and characters the same but it would be too time consuming for what i want so he was a good test piece and still looks the goods by himself I may try and get a squad or 4 done of my warriors soon and see how they line up with the lord!

Opinions please guys just quickly :-) if, for instance i was painting a 'ye olde' knight and had to paint his tabard over the armour, what 2 contrasting colours would look good together? i'm thinking green/blue or red/blue at the moment but open to other suggestions at this stage?

If in doubt, goes with white or black.

It would look striking on him but I was wanting to add a little splash of colour to an otherwise sombre model :-)

How about golden yellow + black?
or Blue with White?

I am pretty sure Bretonnian have plenty of such colour combo.
