Just thought it might be interesting to see where people model and paint and take photos.

Here's a pic of my table (I'm very disorganised) with all sorts of gak all over it. The lights are bend round for photo taking, but i usually have them on to make sure i can see everything...

If this is a crap idea/should be moved, sorry.

hehe...you like buffy...

Sorry for being an donkey...I will post up pics as soon as I can.

Interesting, especially because i guess the working places will look not as professional as i imagine they are. (The whole: "Dakka-guys are all demi-gods" and all, you know)

I paint in my "shop". My shop is right outside/part of my room, which is the whole basement in it's smallness. It's also where I display my sword/armour, and where I do my armouring.

The idea was that I would leave all of my gaming stuff at my friend's place so that I would only focus on my studies while at home. But as you can see we have developed the beginnings of a G-Dub cancer in the home and I fear that since X-Mas break started it is only going to get worse!

For me its any table anywhere baby.

Seriously though I don't have a "set" area for painting. My problem is the fact that i live in a small flat with my girlfriend who is tidyness freak.

I have a pot for water, may paints in a box, and my brush. All i need are those and some kitchen roll (and a little mixing pallette). I'm a neat painter so I rarely spill paint so don't use a workstation or hard matt to put things on.

If I had a bigger place maybe this would be different and I'd setup a propoer painting and modelling area.

sigh

That's a remarkably neat and tidy bitz-box. Ugh...reminds me that it frightens me to look inside of mine.

Tidy bits are the only way to stay partially sane. Once despruing everything I decided to run out and get a box. All the arms in one, legs in another, pauldrons in another...

I am also another that models / paints all over the house. Mostly in the living room. I do do late night painting in the room when the girlfriend goes to sleep. Some look at porn, I paint berserkers!

yep you have to keep your bitz organized. I have one of those $10 k-mart tool/junk boxes full of bitz, and ran out of space so I started reusing the plastic sectional containers that GW puts the stuff in in their box sets.. they're actually turning out to be easier for me .. so now I have 1 box for beastman bitz, 1 box for imperial guard

I have kinda noticed that the army that one is attracted to generally, though not always, is tied directly to their hobby style. Aside from myself (and I think that that is because I am a life-long Ork player), every space marine player has their bits organized into cubby-trays, and their workstations are practical and somewhat tidey. Eldar players tend to fall into that nitch as well. Anybody else notice this?

I'm fully portable. I've got my tools in a custom-made wooden box, my bits in a fishing tackle bag that came with numerous plastic cases with seperated spaces, and my paints are in a tote (also have a full model line paint set from Vallejo that's very nice and protable). Add a light and Bam! Instant workspace.

Sadly, my painting area is also the same as my computer desk. When I want to stop painting and type something on my computer I have to push my painting crap out of the way (Luckily I do have a wireless keyboard which means I can type from my lap for short bits).

Sadly, I just don't have the space in my current apartment for a separate paint station.

Having moved house to a smaller place, my stuff is now spread around quite a bit. My army boxes are on top of the kitchen cabinets along with my boxes with paints and tools. My WIPs are on a tray that sits on top of the microwave. On the plus side, my wife is frightened of the attic, so it's slowly turning into my personal bits box.

Nice organization stgm!

I have some bitz drawers, but it's organized much more roughly: "1 drawer per army". And I don't have them labeled

Heh, thanks, I think.

However, my setup pales in comparison to Mike McCuen's lair(s).  Check out his first, original lair:
