So, I've been looking at the Stormtalon sprues. Most conversions involve elongating the body/tail, or giving the thing wings.

I, of course, want none of that.

So, I've ordered some bitz, and I have an idea in my head. It'll involve some heavy-duty use of my trusty cutting saw, as well as seeing if I can 'scribe out' the circular engine mounts. Worst case scenario, if I totally wreck the bodies, I have two more inbound...

I want to maintain the general 'feeling' of the craft, but bulk it up a bit. The thing, like most Astartes craft, is a flying brick. But the proportions are just ever so slightly off. Also, I have a hard time believing this thing can safe descend from orbit.

Anyways!

I also think the cockpit is too squished. The poor Techmarine looks like he's crammed in there, and they have to use a crowbar (STC pattern D9023948/a54+) to get him out of it.

Also? There is now an elite "Flying Cadre" of Techmarine Pilots. Someone needs to write THAT book.

Also, also? How annoying is it that the SM flyers are segregated by Chapter? I mean, okay, I get it. Trying to make each Chapter unique. I really appreciate it! But Space Wolves, Black Templars, Dark Angels don't have a Flyer. Makes no sense. SW should get that damn Stormraven, same with Templars. Angels should get ALL OF THEM. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ravenwing THIS, bitches!

Uhm.

I may be off of my meds.

No! You bought a stormtalon? Why?! It's so hideous, truly one of the worst GW designs evar. I cringe at the very sight of it.

Might be good if you could get a team of them and make them transform into Voltron or something.

Or make them into awesome scenery of destroyed, crashed vehicles (who thought this thing could fly, anyway?).

Lovely, This is what I like about the Storm Talon, it lends itself to be transformed into many variations. I like this one and I will added it to my list of conversions as well. I am finishing up my paper version of the Storm Talon and have in the works the manned walker and helicopter attack version as well. Thanks for the ideas and waiting to see some more of your stuff.

Maybe for one of the Stormravens.

Before then, I am afraid I have an entirely different project. An...Orky Projekt. I hear the siren cry of the Mad Mek, and it tasks me. It tasks me, and I shall have it!

One is fun, but two will do!

I have taken snapshots of the second build. I'll try and put together a tutorial for it. One of the things I try to do, is make sure that a conversion doesn't require "more parts than necessary". I really dislike projects that make you buy a lot of extra bitz. Yes, it may look really cool, but when you have to buy $40 of bitz on top of the kit? Yeah. Not so much. This kitbash uses ONLY the contents of the Stormtalon kit, and plasticard.

Second one's always easier than the prototype.

So! CONTEST TIME! I don't know what I'm going to put into the GRAB BAG, but...it'll be fun! Yeah!

NAME MY FLYERS. Clearly, these need a better name than Stormtalon.

The rules:

1) One entry per person.
2) You can only submit ONE name, so make it a good one!
3) You should probably stick with the "Storm" theme, but of you think you have something UBER AWESOME, lay it on me.
4) Contest ends on Friday. So, take a day or two to think hard.
5) As always I reserve the right to D-Q anyone who doesn't follow rules 1-3.

Let's ride!

--B.

PS: Why, yes. Those ARE two bases from the fine personage behind HTTP://RIVETZONE.COM. Perhaps you should buy some, too.

PPS: I realize that in 'hover' mode, the underwing weapon pods point straight up. Note to self, hull-mount the damn weapons pods, DUMBASS.
