Nice paint drop. It reminds me that I'm overdue to replace a few colors.

Regarding the Army Painter red, have you tried a red wash over it? Not sure if it will make the difference you are looking for but it was the first thing that came to mind. My only experience w/ those kinds of paints was in the 90's when GW released spray cans of Ultramarine Blue, etc. It was a bit 'dusty' and took paint very well. I used a lot of it on my Genestealer Cult and Tyranid forces with good results.

Why are Vamp's always busty hot? No plain 'ol women in the Old World? Ha. The pic of her isn't zoomable so I can't comment one way or another on the skin, but overall it looks well done.

The Eldar look bright and clean. I'm convinced that Eldar armor would still look clean even if they took a header right into a mud hole.

Great work as always.

Yeah will try a red wash Skalk might just do the trick to tone it down a tad.

In regards to the vamps of course they are going to be busty, you arent going to make a nice young lady into a vampire unless she can keep you entertainted for centries

I do plan on weathering the guardians if they are up for it, will be interesting to see how they come out.

Oh and Skalk I'm afraid to say that because of the builders I've not had time to do my entry into your comp, next time gadget next time

Miss Dee wrote:I told you P3

Yes Miss Dee you did indeed recommend P3 and they are really nice paints, I'd say the best I've use so far apart from the Vallejo Metallic Air paints which are like silk on my paint brush.

Sorry you can't make it, but this contest was such a success that I intend to do another one in a few months. Next one will be Difficult Terrain or 'Destroyed Vehicle Crater'.

My true hope for the current and any future contest is to inspire people to build a better battlefield. A Golden Daemon winning Space Marine Caption looks amazing, but can get capped and put back in the box on one turn. A great piece of terrain stays on the table for the entire game. Plus it adds so much to the overall atmosphere when you're not using something like this for a gaming board.

Even though I've missed the deadline I'm still going to do my Junk piles as I did sort out the bits for them and I do need the scenery.

I think its a great idea that you have going there, its something I really need to be part of.

Yea its update day

Slightly behind schedule with posting pics due to working lots of unsociable hours over the last few weekends and last night hence the day off today.

I've still been keeping busy though got some new paint brushes today which was very need as I realised the one I was using only had about 50% of its bristles left.

Nearly run out of Eldar models to paint now although I just won some Swooping Hawks off ebay, I'm really enjoying painting the Biel-Tan colours for some reason. Really need to pick up the codex so I can plan out what I need. I'm currently thinking of adding two Wraithlords and a wraithknight and guardians, maybe an Avatar.

I just sign up for a tourney in February I'll probably be taking the Wolves again as I cant pull enough of anything else togather, if thats the case you might see another squad pop up here. Also ordered the Stronghold Assault book as its legal upto 200 points so might find something interesting in there most likely void shields for my Long Fangs.

Anyways enough chatting from me and some pics of what I've been upto.

Eldar Warlock, special non GW very very limited edition.

Eldar Farseer

Finally a wip shot of a Black Legion Sorcerer for another army I have planned.

Hopefully I'll have him finished this weekend

Sorry about rubbish quality pics your going to have to put up with them over the winter period

Thanks Skalk, the reason being is that my camera is a relic and takes bad photos at the best of times, I have to resize them before I upload otherwise you wouldn't be able to work out what it was

Thanks Nash and Git's, I'm really loving having my painting time back.

Today I've finished off the Black Legion sorcerer, I'm going for an urban snow scheme for the basing on this army. I decided to do the gold to silver highlighting like NF09 on these guys rather than liquid gold, the reflections on the gold is actual highlighting. It's hard to make black look sexy but I think I'm getting there

You wont see many more of these guys for a while unless I pick up some models when buying for other armies, I seem to have lots of bits and minis waiting for their armies to be started at the moment.

Next up will be a Warmachine mini that I'm working on at the moment he has lots of skin areas so I'm hoping that it looks ok when you see it, I might have time to finish him today, we shell see.

Christmas is just round the corner so my painting time should increase if only by a bit if I have permission

I just finished my Red Scorpions army list so thats another added to the pile, will be working on a Mantis Warriors list next I think as I have a load of ideas for them and they were really fun to paint.

-----------------------------------------

I hope everyone had a great Xmas and received lots of modelling goodness, I was given the new Stronghold Assault rulebook for 40k and a new Tac squad so I'm happy.

Finished off the first of the Khador minis which will be up on ebay later tonight with the Black Legion Sorcerer. Finally sorted myself out with where I'm going with the hobby I've been all over the place recently getting stuff I don't need or wont use etc. Had a nice chat with the voice of reason, (the misses) and we decided it would be better for me to just paint rather than play so thats where I'm going from now, painting minis to sell on ebay or for others who might be interested. I find painting relaxing but not the gaming side so much, I'm going to look into some painting masterclass type books as well to help me improve my skills

Here's the Khador Manhunter, I'm currently working on a Warjack which is turning out very grim dark

I tried out the Secret Weapon dried blood wash and its very strange leaves little bits of what look like lumpy flesh when it dries

I also worked on getting a better than usual skin tone (for me) as well using P3 paints.

oh and I got a good deal on a new camera on the net on Xmas day so you should start seeing some better pics when it arrives next week if I'm lucky.

Cheers Graven I dont know what it is with P3 paints but they just seem so much smoother to paint with.

Thanks Damo I think a bit more practice with the skin tones and I might feel more confident in painting flesh, looking forward to the new camera thats for sure. yeah theres a Warjack thats nearly finished on my painting table would have been done today but I had to go to work

Miss Dee wrote:When painting I underpaint

I have tried that before when I done the tat on one of my cultists, I also used it on my Warjack tha I'm painting to blend in the brush strokes. Will try it again when I get a chance to paint some more flesh I really think your onto something here

An old mini re-pictured for today, I managed to print out one of those faded background things at work to make my pictures look a bit more professional

I had to redo the base for Typhus as I was painting it when my old drybrush died, as he's going up on ebay I thought I'd share the pic here as well. I got a bit of a larger pic for Skalk this time round as well

I've got some more Khador minis painted as well but I've entered them into the Wamp IV competition and need to wait for them to be authorised before I can post them anywhere else.

They should be up later tonight or tomorrow for your viewing pleasure.

I'm back twice in one day what next, well I was going to start painting the next warjack but got a little side tracked with this fellow, unfortunately my next highlight layer has turned to a rock in its paint pot I tried mixing it but it was all bitty so I'm going to try and find a P3 replacement for Vallejo Moon Yellow if there is one, meanwhile I've still got quite a bit more work to do on him.
