From what I recall, iPad Version of the rulebook will be out in September (there was some talk of releasing it a week ahead of the rulebook, but there was some fear that it will cannabilise hardcopy sales - that and the Indys would be pissed off.)

Release was intended to be the 7th of July but I believe it was pulled forward to appease GW regions that have there Financial Years end on the 30th June (hoped that they will have a shot in the arm as a result.)

I am frankly amazed that the Necrons were able to get their entire codex in model form within a year!
After this, the only thing we'll have to wait for is the next Imperial Armour!
(I want my 'Cron Titan, dammit)

A Stealth Suit is a Stealth Suit is a Stealth Suit. Doesn't matter what pattern it is really.

I think the point I'm more or less trying to get across here is that the old suits were replaced with these new sculpts. Why would they redo the older XV15 in finecast unless they had a plan for them. Or does GW just realize people liked the old models better than the new sculpt.
I just feel something is off here. Sure the XV15 is still listed and playable, but the XV15s have been out of stores for a long time now and only sold on the website. So I guess I made the error of assuming that since it is getting a finecast release, it would be going BACK into stores. If it actually goes back into the store, then I would question it more. But I think it will go back in stores, since I don't seem them finecasting something and only selling it on their website.

You realized they have been selling them in metal still for awhile right?

Not gonna lie, I'd buy a digital rulebook in a heartbeat at that price if it had half of the functionality of the digital SM codex. The hyperlinks to rules alone are worth it, along with not having to carry a book that makes most textbooks shudder with it's girth.

Oh, and the price is fine. It's exactly what you should have expected, given the last few releases. It certainly wasn't going to get cheaper.

This is coming. Expect to be able to buy "Battlefield Terrain", so they can move all the Citadel Terrain products. It is a logical 'swipe' from 8th ed Fantasy.

Fortresses, Defence lines, Landing Pads, Tanglewire(tm), tank traps, walls, barricades, etc. All ready to be point-costed and sold to eager 15 year olds.

No, I had not a clue they were still being sold on the website like I previously mentioned in my post.

Unless I'm missing something here, there seems to be something new hiding in that kit...

The current kit also contains 9 pieces:

Airburst launcher (+ front bit)
Cyclic blaster
2 heads + 2 antennae
Positional relay
Command and control node.

We've been waiting for tau stuff so long, and all we get is some lousy finecast. Should make a t-shirt out of it . Finecast shielddrone bitz might be nice though, the metal ones are kinda heavy, although magnetizing those to sticks still works (just need a little bigger magnet ). Already have 2 kits of those though, dont think many old tau players will be buying any of this (although, I dont have any kroot hounds yet :().

I think I'm inclined to buy the collector's edition when it launches because I'm not sure I'm going to stick with 40k. If I dislike the rules, I'll just keep playing the armies and codexes I have in 5th.

So for me getting the collector's edition actually makes the most sense since if I don't like it, I can ebay it and get the best return. Also, the 8th CE looks awesome.

Ah damn, I forgot the 2 antenna on the front of one of the heads. Now all my hopes and dreams of a small wargear upgrade for 6th has been dashed.

I for one am very happy to see the drones at least, it would be nice to have at least one viable way of getting some. And at eight pieces per pack, it will be two drones worth. And your right, at this point there is nothing being released that I honestly will buy except maybe one broadside upgrade kit to check it out.

I read the shield drone upgrade pack to be 8 underside pieces to go on shield drones plus maybe antennae? So 4 - 8 gun drones worth of conversions. 3 days to find out or until someone scans the page in an early copy.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

The wording is a bit strange, if they call the commander set 9 piece, how can they make the shield drone pack 8 piece? (as you require 1 under piece and 2 antennae in the current upgrade set). Perhaps they changed the shield drone pack further (different pieces maybe?), as the current pack only holds enough for 4 drones (8 drones in a single pack might be to much for people that only need like 2).

I could see the upgrade being two pieces actually. If you use existing sprues for the drone you already have 1 antenna. So the upgrade would be the bottom part and 1 antenna per drone sprue. So yah this would make 4 drones per upgrade kit which isn't that bad. Now if they can give us a reason to have more than a handful in the army thats a different matter.

Unless this is a typo and they are in fact not upgrades but the whole drone itself, then it would be 2 drones (2 antenna and top and bottom parts).

Hopefully the 23rd will give us a glimpse of the future of Tau within all the 6th edition stuff. And more so in the actual 6th book, the fluff and lore for Tau in there should give some insight too. We may even see the supposed next flyer wave release pop up on the 23rd as well which would be exciting.

New Tau makes me happy, also glad to see that GW is making an effort to complete ranges. I think despite all our fears that GW will consistently disappoint and gouge its fans, they've definitely 'grown up' a lot in the last six months.

Finecast is going to replace all metals in the next year. Although I keep wondering if that will extend to Specialist or they will just use it as an excuse to shut it down...

In 5ed, they added the chapter the time of ending (which also featured the emporors throne failing) so I hope thaey add a new era/chapter.

I remember buying the huge collector's edition rulebook for 8th WHFB because I thought it was really neat and I liked all of the extra lore and art in the book. But, after lugging that thing around for a month or so I got tired of it real quick. I will be waiting for the small rulebook (if I am still around 40k by the time it comes out anyway).

Something i noticed on the SKU's -

The Munitorum dice are coming out 28/7/12, 4 weeks after the BRB. The gamer's edition supposedly comes with dice and releases on 30/6/12. The only way to get the new dice (which appear to come with 'holders', a cool idea, as well as possibly new damage chart result references) on release day is to shell out the extra $50 for the gamer's ed.

Now i'm really not sure which i'll buy....

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Didn't the Hive Tyrant get converted to FC only to get a new plastic kit about 6 months later? I just think your probably looking at a 5-6 month minimum wait, there has been rumours of a Ork Wave in early 2013 which would fit.
