Beware the vows of March! So let's have 'em--what are your painting commitments?

For me it'll be the following:
1. Paint the 11 remaining England Invaded figs (already based and primed)
2. Clean, base, and prime 5 Copplestone Castings Cavewomen
3. Clean, base and prime a box of Skorne Venators (6?)
4. Clean, prime and paint my new Martian flying boat

Those are for sure. I'm debating also finishing off my other driller, blaster and gunner, or working on my Drazen's Horde Chainmail figs. So we'll end up seeing which direction I go.

Note that I'm putting off working on my 24 Kroot/Venusian Parrotmen project. Part of that is a question of basing (though I'll probably just use the GW bases, since my ACW and England Invaded figs use 20mm rounds anyway), but part of that is just the intimidation at painting 24 of one kind of figure. It's been a while since I've tackled a 40k sized project and I'm not looking forward to it...

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

I have a Hordes tourney I plan on attending and getting my ass handed to me in, so I need to get some stuff in gear.

So far I have:
  • 1 Vayle

  • 1 Seraph

  • 2 Nephilim

  • 1 Forsaken

  • 1 Swamp gobbers unit

  • 1 Totem hunter

  • Assembled

I have 5 raptors, 12 archers, 10 swordsmen, 1 carnivean, 1 forsaken and 1 angelius that need to be assembled still. I have the next 5 days off, so I think I can get the majority of this assembled if not all of it, with a decent jump on the preliminary stages of painting.

So I think the majority of this month is going to be modelling, but I will try to get some painting in as well, with luck.

    - Dakka Painting Challenge Entry. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to enter ^_^.

    - Depending on time, I might start working on my IG Stormtroopers some more. At the very least get the cloth work done on them all.

I think I'll just make the list of what I have to do, in order of importance, and then work my way down the list!

    - finish my last ten gaunts (shouldn't take so long since they're almost done except for details and basing)
    - finish building two ruins (one already 80% done)
    - paint two miniatures (old man and old woman) as best as I possibly can, they'll be part of a wedding gift
    - paint 12 genestealers

I'd be very happy if I manage to get all that done, but I doubt I'll get the stealers finished this month. On the other hand, if I do, I've only got two large creatures and a couple weapon arms left to paint and I've got my 1.000 point nid army done. Hmmm...

This will be a busy month for me in the real world, so I doubt I'll get much done.

I've got to finish what I've got started, including...

  • Finish putting glossy on the snow.

  • Paint my 3 obstacles (crates).

  • Complete and paint my 2 ruined houses.

  • New Career Time?

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

finish a bunch of half finished stuff, including, unfortunately, my February vow.

Properly pin and base my Hordes stuff and put the finishing touches on the terrain I have. Stuff I've been putting off for ... for as long as I've been gaming/ studenting, basically.

After that April will probably be painting Hordes stuff, wee.

    My March vows will be:

Finish my DA HQ unit from Feb.
Finish building/converting 2x Ravenwing attack squadrons, undercoat and paint (incl. chaplain)
Finish the GS on my BL squad and paint.
Finish Abbaddon's retinue conversion and the man himself. Then paint.
Finish BL rhino (GS the gaps from having to cut up plastic doors to make the FW ones fit/size better... )
Paint FW dreadnought base for WE dreadnought and add final highlight and brass etch (which will also be painted)

I've not touched my DA Dev squad from last month or the LR's and rhino's i had intended to paint as I've decided to get an airbrush and basecoat the DA green on to speed things up. I'll do these towards the end of the month once I've done the above squads.

That'll do for now. I'm fully expecting to have this all done early as it's mostly black stuff which is way easier/faster for me to paint. As usual though, I'll probably deviate a bit so that'll do!

I missed out on Feb, but am jumping in for March:

    I'm going to be painting:
    12 Gondor Warriors
    20 Uruk Hai (pikes, warriors)
possibly for the Baltimore GT (yes, I'm not going to play 40k, if I go, it'll be LOTR)

    Touching up:
    4 Battlefleet Gothic Cruisers
a bunch of escorts, and some ordinance
for a campaign I'm currently running

    Basing:
    My Bretonnian WFB army
one unit of Austrian musketeers, one unit of Croats, and an artillery piece for Might and Reason (10mm)
for a campaign that is waiting for more models to be painted

    Finish my Rengrave conversion
Work on the Warhounds some more.

Got a decent jump on Vows today.

Finished cleaning flash, pinning, assembling and greenstuffing:
    1 Forsaken
    1 Raptor
1 Saeryn proxy (W. Klocke reaper mini)

Cleaned the flash off of 4 other Raptors.

The Raptor I did finish was a huge pain in the butt, taking the majority of the day to complete due to greenstuff. Blending the fur with GS to make the head seem part of the model was tedious.
I guess thats the thing with PP models. Great molding, little flash, but.....a huge pain to assemble and make them look like they should.

February was marginally productive. Did more flash-trimming, assembling and priming than painting, despite all of the primed stuff I have on my desk. I *did* get some of the little jobs done though (like finishing trimming/carapacing 3 genestealers, finishing highlights on zealots).

    March vows:
Finish highlights on 10 Bile Thralls
Finish painting Typhus, PM Champ, 2 Deathguard Termies
Paint 7 Plaguebearers + Warp Gate
Paint Severius, Skarre, Gorman and Eiryss

maybe get a start on painting 10 IG jetbike roughriders. (Painting bikes and riders separately)

Finish magneting and nurgle-ing Chaos Predator.
    Finish magneting and converting Flyrant.

    3. Paint my land raider. Command sqad needs a tricked out ride!

Doesnt seem like much but I'll be hard pressed.

  • Continue work on the Biker Boss build

  • Convert Deff Choppa pilots

  • Base and Paint Deff Choppas

  • Assemble/convert 15 Lootas

  • That's the official list. If I have time between the loota mold lines (shoot me please, D3 times per turn) and painting the choppers, I'll start on my Sproingboys.

February was a bit of a flop, ended up spending the month building ogres for the most part. Now it's time to really get some mileage, particularly with APOC III looming March 15th.

    Painting CSM to 2000
    - 1 demon prince
    - 1 dreadnought
    - 1 land raider
    - 3 terminators

    Building Ogres to 2000
    - 1 slave troll
    - 1 tyrant

The giant troll (dire troll blitzer conversion ) will be done tonight, but otherwise I intend to grind the termies this week. I'd love to do the dread next week and have it ready for APOC III, but it's been 2 months and no word from FW ...
