It is base coat Vallejo 'charred brown' then a 2:1 mix of 'charred browm' and 'plague browm' that was thinned down with water about 6 water to paint. Then just layered up where I though light might hit it. I still need to go over the left leg more, then I think a mix of 1:1 charred and plague brown thinned down again, to make it a bit brighter on the edges.

I'm waiting for oil paint to make a wash for my chaos termi lord, and also waiting fof stuff to dry on my river base for the deff dread, So thought this would be good to pass the time with.

I've started with charred brown, and add blood red to the mix and layered it up and up. Eventually it will go up to pure blood red.

That's looking very nice, tipios. I really like the dark red-brown. I almost went in that direction (and I may yet, maybe for terminators), and the topknot is ace!

Ork? Dark Eldar? Interesting that the arms haven't been painted yet.... And yes, please be careful with the yellow; it's too nice a figure for smashy, smashy.

It'll be interesting to see how you paint the yellow to match that red-brown!

PS would love to see your Konrad Kurze. More Scourge wings!

Started doing flames on the backpack, and other details.

Flames need touch up though. Other side looks alright, but the photo I took has got massive shine on it and you can't see anything. Will retake after finishing more detail.

More details and a wash of sepia in places.

I've done the main flames in brown, I was going to go over in red, but I like the way it looks now.

On a totally unrelated note, I had this crazed idea that I'd love to see, and thought of you: a powerfist with hazard stripe knuckles. That make sense?

Ha, thanks Skalk! I was going for a darker look, so the armour highlights didn't go up to orange on the reds.

I spend a couple of hours practicing before I tried on this model. The Hawk is really giving me trouble. I'll have to put pics of practice to show the pain
