so, im starting orks as we all do, but i need a theme...

... FLYING NAVAL ORKS ! theyre obbesed with naval things like ships, submarines, the colour blue, etc. but there is no sea so they stick propellers on everything. so expect lots of deff copters and stormboyz.
hopefully putting some pictures up soon.

to keep the theme going to troops aswell you could have them led by wazdakka with warbikes, but convert them all to jetbikes

Well, it'd 23MB, so I imagine the website paniced and thumbnailed it so that we wouldn't all sit here for 10 minutes waiting for the thread to load.

If you click on it (and have a fast connection) it'll download it up full size, but it'll never display properly.

My suggestion, check the settings on your camera, or load it into some photo-editing software and shrink the size down ALOT. (23MB Jpeg? the thing must be like 24" across full size)

on forge world there are lots of flying ork stuff, if you need inspiration, most you could make out of odd bits, plasticard and so on. Rules exist for some of them too. I'm make an ork zeplin if i were you, just for fun!

uhm...... im pretty sure youd have to pretty much make him as you go. because you CAN find a napolean mini out there but he would be the size of an IG instead of an ork. thats a pretty cool idea tho. good luck on that

I think it'd be possible to convert an existing model. You just need to get one one in a larger scale so you get a proper 'uge Boss! Here are some fairly inexpensive (for the size and quality) models from Andrea Miniatures. The last two seems to be the closest to what you want.

Take a look at insaniak's ork pirate dude for inspiration. You could probably gs the black reach warboss into a napoleon with minimal gs work.

I like the idea overall and you have started out with some kewl conversions. One critique: A few of them are so busy it's hard to see whats going on. Just something to consider as you go forward. If every ork in the army is as busy as these guys it will be very difficult to tell units apart and tell boys from nobs. I try to keep major conversions to a few models, and then do minor things for the rest of the unit, like repositioning arms and legs, adding small bits of iconography and bits that compliment the theme you are looking to achieve.

You might want to use the ones with lots of conversions as nobs, and then on the regular boys replace choppas with naval weaponry , harpoons, anchors, buckets and pails and mops, etc. Use your propeller ideas on them as well as some white seaman hats, etc. That way they would fit the theme and your nobs would still be converted like crazy to show of your good ideas.

One thing that would be interesting for the different types of unit would be to do them as different forces. For instance, Commandos could be seals, Slugga boys could be da marinez, Trukk boys could be sailuz, do a little research on different naval units and organizations to see what other ideas you could find. Your Battle wagons could even be batt'l shipz. If you do apoc games you could even make a Da Deff Carrier for deffcoptas.

Oh, and one last thing : That trukk looks to be the size of a battle wagon ... You might want to check the scale before you get too far into it. The new gw trukk is only about 3-4 models wide. Your trukk looks much bigger than that.

aye, i agree wiv mephisoles' points, i found that the bright colours combined wiv da busyness (or would it be buisness?) of da models kan be a little konfusin, as for da trukk, i fink sizewize it kood work, just make everyfing else dat much bigger, afterall, i have a looted defiler as a battlewagon..., still on da trukk topic, get some thicker plasticard, urs is paper thin, good work so far, cant wait to see napoleork, and how were queen?
