Hi everyone, I'm new to Dakka Dakka, and have only been playing for a few years. I've started working on a small Slaanesh army, and am working on a daemon prince for one of my HQ choices:

I've been trying to add blood veins in arms etc, but I can't get them to look right...

As well, if i were to go for wings, webbed or feathered?

Please give opinions...

Well, I would try for feathered wings.....
Looks bloody good so far though and I don't think you should give him wings... (might ruin the model)
The only thing I could criticise is the distinct lack of paint!

i wouldnt add wings, i think they would ruin it, as it is its a great model

there is an easy way to do veins
on a model that size cut into the arm where the vein will go.
make the cut about 2mm deep and 1mm wide.
simply roll out the GS until its like string, drop it into the grooves you have cut out.
it should stick out plenty, then simply smooth it out a bit.

ive tried it on smaller models (IG mainly)
so a slightly larger version that i posted sizes for should work well

I'm not sure if the wings will work as well. The model however looks great, the only thing I'm worried about is that it might be a bit to bulky for a Slanesh deamon prince.

wow. ok so for the wings....i would say feathers. seems more god appropriate...to me anyway.

look up the colours of birds that have a name...like love birds or something to give you a good colour scheme

Alright Cloud... I like it, but it's for the wrong army. Slaanesh is about beauty, sexuality, and pleasure... This model doesn't have any of that. It looks like it should belong to Khorne or Nurgle.

While slaanesh is often embodied that way it's just one of the facets, it's about excess in all forms. To me it looks perfectly slaaneshi, with the cybernetic eye and the enhanced arm, he looks like he's all about perfection, and being the greatest he can be. I think it could work as a khornate demon prince perhaps, but is also perfectly suited to slaanesh.

Regarding the wings, I definitely get the feeling feathered would work best to bring a more gentle aspect to this currently quite fierce model, and best represent the common form of slaanesh as half male half female, that said, I tend to agree that wide spread wings might detract from the model a bit, but having them mostly folded I think could work okay.

A bit extreme but still pretty cool.

What Drunkspleen said is pretty much what I was going for here. but also, the idea for this Daemon Prince is that as the Slaanesh guys go crazy after a while, because of the extreme sensory input, that the headgear is kinda like a sensory deprivation hood, as he's trying not to go the way of all the rest of them or something like that. I'll try to post more pictures soon, but I've had a spychotically busy week, and am going on away on holidays soon so... Thanks for the input everyone!

Only Plaguebearers have 1 eye-like appendige.

Despite the oversized sword i almost thought it was nurglish at first.

Though that is probly cause everytime i see GS i think nurgle.... I love papa nurgle so much

A slaaneshi daemon prince should look more beautiful. My idea for a slaanesh DP was gonna be like a little figure of Marylin Monroe or Hughe Hefner with little bunnies

I think the sword is a FANTASTIC idea, though it probably really IS too large. I'd like it more if it was more size-appropriate.

EXCELLENT design on it, though.

Is the green from GS or paint?

Looking forward to a better image, so my input can be more valuable/appropriate.

Slaanesh is the god of excess, this guy has an exceedingly huge sword, an exceedingly huge arm, a cybernetic eye for exceedingly good aim etc.
He exceeds in battle, that is his excess.
Dont think slaanesh is just sex/drugs/rock and roll.

On the subject of paint, the green is just green stuff, and the blue is left over paint from the previous paintjob. Also, it doesn't just have 1 eye, it's got a pair of goggles, it's just that they can't be seen because of my photos.

Agreed. The first thing I thought when I saw this was, "Khorne".

Need more guilded armor, and a redone face. Face should be more sensual or charismatic. This face yells monster/beast, too brutish.

Wing-wise it might be something to get away from the traditional feather/skin wings and go for something a little more original like an arrangement of stuff that resembles wings like Celestine the Living Saint - maybe wildly dyed hair, or a gigantic feathered boa, or a silken cape, or maybe wings made out of flames (though that's kind of a Tzeentchian trope). Maybe wings composed of bound souls in torment?

I like it. It looks like he is into the rough-love aspect of slaneesh. Just look at the sice of the grille on his cod-piece :-)

As for wings, Nurglitch did all the good suggestions already. Some manga robots (is it Gundam the anime is called?) do wings made of thin straight sheets of metal, that could work.

Seriously, dude, watch 300 again and check out some of the beasties. While Xerxes himself is sort of androgynous and has a sort of creepy S&M beauty about him, his monsters are grotesque and brutal. Give your DP some piercings and chains instead of feathers, I think that'd have a more original effect than sticking a pair of flappers on him.

I suddenly remembered what wings I was thinking of. The necromunda Yeld Spyrer wings! They are hardly ever used on conversions, wich is a shame.

Appologies for taking so long to continue this post, but life's unforseable incidences have gotten in the way recently.

Ok. I'm almost done the modelling of the demon prince, (see shoulderpads, head, feet, right arm.) The rock needs finishing obviously, and I'm looking for opinions and critisizm of the model.

One of the earlier examples of a Slaaneshi greater deamon was a huge thing with the head and body of a bull, with some additional arms and pincers. Who is to say what form the God of Pleasure and Excess would bestow on his/her chosen... excessively muscled?

Looks pretty sick. My only recommendation would be some ritual scaring kinda thing and combat drug injectors.
