Scouting forces of the Ultramarines and the Crimson Fists were only just forced back in their first engagement against the Death Guard on this world which once the Exodites called the "Heart of Ucileonan". The kin of the Eldar were killed off thousands of years ago by a Warp anomaly which sucked this planet into a completly random part of the Galaxy. The Heart of Ucileonan had then reamerged in a backwater system near the Ghoul Stars. Imperial Chapters have since established bases on this planet due to its strategic importance. Now the Heart of Ucileonan has come to the attention of the Traitors. Another scouting force has arrived to bolster the Ultramarines and the Crimson Fists; the ever vigilant Salamanders.....

Welcome to part 2 of the joint battle report with Panic and crew.

I, Solomon am playing Death Guard and Pat is playing Salamanders.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mission is Sieze Ground with three Objectives. Set-up is Dawn of War. Pat wins the roll,
forces me to go first and fails to Sieze Initiative

Top of Turn One

Death Guard arrive into an empty battlefield

Salamanders arrive via drop pod and take the hill

.........................................................................................................................

Top of Turn Two

A unit of Salamanders is slaughtered by the Daemon Prince who vomits forth a Wind of Chaos

The Vindicator and Thunderfire Cannon arrive as the remaining unit of Salamanders withdraw

..........................................................................................................................

Top of Turn Three

The Death Guard assault the Drop Pods as the Possessed arrive

The ten strong unit of Terminators led by an Epistolary Librarian with Gate and Vortex Cleanse a unit of Death Guard

..........................................................................................................................

Top of Turn Four

The Terminators are reduced to three models and the Librarian by the combined charge of two fifths of the Death Guard army

Vulkan and Sternguard arrive to support the Terminators which draws more of the Death Guard away from Objectives

..........................................................................................................................

Top of Turn 5

The Librarian and Terminators fall but the massacre moves are too pityful for the Daemons to claim the center Objective

Vukan and his Sternguard also fall but the Salamanders still hold one objective and the Death Guard hold none

.........................................................................................................................

Then Pat rolls a one and the game ends. Noooooo!
Wow that game was tight right to the end! If it had gone one more turn then I could clamed two Objectives with overwhelming force.
Vulkan and the Librarian did their job and kept me busy for just long enough.

Well the score for the London to Hawai`i joint battle report is Chaos 1 and Loyalists 1.
I am not gonna let you down again Panic!

What are those markers with the smoke on them?

Did the Thunderfire do anything?

Those are "wreck" markers. The smoke is just for effect

Yes the Thunderfire Cannon was able to work at my Lesser Daemons and Rhinos. In one salvo it took out 8 Lesser Daemons in fact

Great report, enjoying the link up between you guys. Always sad to see a Brother-in-Nurgle be denied, but I am sure that you will have your revenge - afterall, killing Vulkan, a Librarian and 10 Terminators has to count as a moral victory in terms of the damage to the Salamanders! =)

Good guys go to heaven.

Bad guys send them there.

yeah,
That was a close game! your armies look Awesome (as always). London is preparing for our next battle!

As the Salamanders feed back 'sector secure' intel to Command, above them the Imperial Vessels Searching for the Plague Fleet have begun to detect a coded astral Transmission that seems to be broadcast directly towards the Ghoul Stars!
...Unable to detect the source, the Captain of the Fleet can't block the transmission... he knows that soon War will come to the Heart of Ucileonan and they will have to decide... Just how valuable is this world?

Great pics on this report - do you just stand on a chair and snap the pic?

I personally would like a bit more turn to turn with the various units, but that is a tiny nitpick on an awesome report!

edit: oh yeah, beautiful armies for both players!

I have kind of a question actually: How do you get those aerial pics of the board? Do you stand on a ladder or somethng ? (not that I actually think you do, but I just don't know...)

Hello Guardsmen, look at your Leman, now back to mine, now back to your Leman, now back to mine. Sadly, your Leman isn't mine, but if they stopped using standard engines and switched to Lucifer Pattern, they could move like they're mine. Look down, back up. Where are you? Your in a battlefield with the Rhino your Leman could move like. Whats in your hand, back at me, I have it, it's the fire control for the Twin-linked Assault Cannons aimed at you. Look again, it's a Deep-Striked Land-Raider. Anything is possible when your Tanks move like Blood Angels, and not like Guardsmen. I'm on a Baneblade.

Great battle report, and exactly the Salamanders army I was hoping to assemble from Pat; including multiple drop pods, powerful librarian in termie armour + termies, Vulkan with a Sternguard + heavy flamers (from what i can see from the pics) and the thunderfire cannon.

I've taken from the replies that the thunderfire is good crowd control, but how did the characters rate against the deamons and chaos marines? Also, how do you think such a large group of termies did here?

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but melta guns excite me

Hey Bigadley!

Yes the thunderfire is wicked at crowd control and the best thing about it is that you have the option to slow enemy units down or ignore cover too

The Terminators sure packed a punch and were able to draw enough of the Deathguard away from the objectives and keep them away. Interestingly enough that is what my Thousand Son Terminators did in my latest Battle report (part 5). Check it out

I prefer to use th/ss termies- and with vulkan they're master crafted, so they'd kill more stuff and survive!

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
