Lone Wolf Sentinel Pilot

I've had these in my cupboard for ages and have only recently started up the project again. I am working towards an urban force which uses a loose interpretation of British TOE (with a sci-fi slant).
The plan is to have an airborne platoon with air transportation and equipped with jump-packs, an infantry element that is made up of a pair of infantry platoons with APC transport and a support element of dreadnoughts and a heavy weapon platoon. There will also be a command element which may be a platoon or something smaller.
The first to get sorted is the airborne element. Here are the first couple of squads (sorry about the blur):
and the last squad (which is still WIP and is currently on my painting table):
These will be their transport:
I will also be having a bunch of these as support:
Unlike my other battlesuits, these will have a variety of weapons from the heavy flamer (shown) to lascannons.
As a result of the camouflage being completely mind-numbing to paint, I will be painting the ground troops in a different scheme...I just can't face painting little squares any longer :( .
If anyone is interested in where the bases are from, they are from Fenris Games and they are the Sulaco style of chamfered edged bases.
Comments are welcomed!

I will also be having a bunch of these as support:
Looks very promising . I like the paint scheme.
What company are those battle-suits from ?? And how do they compare to say, a standard marine in terms of size ??
Will definitly be following this tread.

The battlesuits are from Warzone, an OOP game. They are Bauhaus, Vulkan battlesuits. Here is a comparison pic with an Imperial Guard for scale:
I'm not sure that the suits will keep the same colours...I just can't face painting another 16 lots of squares :( .

I have been busy converting a walker for my Grymn Urban Army and thought I'd share the progress. I have another two to go:
There is more info on my blog:
http://insosworld.blogspot.com/2011/09/job-done.html
I think it has worked out OK. Obviously, it is still WIP but you get the idea .

Is this army for playing 40k or not?

I don't game anything...but there is no reason why they couldn't be used for 40k.

There were extraordinary IG regiments with antigrav vehicles, aliens and mutants, especially before the Horus Heresy. Although they are prohibited in M41, there could be such an example.
Or this army may be the Gue'vesa - the people who serve Tau -their tanks look very Tau.

I know this is a bit resurrectionist...but I have been working on the Urban Army again and have got as far as working out the basic paint scheme:
...and applying it to the first platoon:
...and painting the transport for the first platoon:
My next task is to gloss varnish the vehicles (like I have the troops) ready for the addition of decals. I have a host of decals to add to the vehicles and troops and once they are all applied everything will get a nice matt varnish. Then I have a further two platoons like this one before adding other special platoons .

Wow, this is some interesting stuff. I agree that they look like they'd make great traitors that are working with the tau. Don't see that too often either. The robocop style walker is really funny too.

So...another day and another update. Here is an example of the rank I have applied to my troops:
(Yellow = Officer and Red = NCO). It is simple to understand and easy to paint...BARGAIN! .
And what could be a better way of starting a week's holiday with a new platoon?:
I spent most of yesterday cleaning, basing and undercoating these ready to repeat the process...
...I haven't touched the transports yet and won't do so until these troops are the same standard as the last platoon (PAINT wise...no decals just glossed ready for them).
I tried to find a spray matt varnish in town yesterday but failed miserably so the tanks will have to stay shiny for the time being. The troops will be getting a brushed on coat of matt varnish so they will have all of their nooks and crannies dulled down this week...
SUPER !

Well... having a week's holiday has got things moving somewhat...
My old Urban troops are now my newly marked up addition to the New Model Army. They have decals and different bases to tie them in with the rest of the troops:
I have also dug out the transports and have been diligently ripping them to bits and putting them back together... here they are so far (with just a tiny amount of tidying up left to do):
I'll sort the tidying up out later on and then it will be on to the paint.
This platoon and it's transports would be the Grymn equivalent of the RAF Regiment so I will be updating a few of my marking/insignia pics to bring everything back into line.

Blowing the dust off this with some small updates.
I haven't worked on the basic troops and have put the three fliers back in the loft... so I have nothing to show off there. What I have done is buy a whole platoon of walkers (14) and have managed to get hold of some pre-release powered-armour:
Since this pic was taken, I have managed to finish painting it:
I also have a pair of these with claws but have yet to get further than priming (although they are on the painting table at the front of the queue):
I should have them painted soon. Then it will be a case of waiting until April before they are released .

Oh man Inso, you make me want to make a grymn army. I'm not a fan of dwarves. Never have been, and I thought I never will be, but you are so...convincing!
Everything from your ogryns made from orks, or your tunnel fighters, the little robot I got obsessed with way back when, the clankers, everything, it makes me want to get a small contingent of grymn, for fun!
Loving the power armored guys, the paint scheme is very cool!

I specifically like the black-lining with the clean colours. It really makes them "pop" without the need for endless highlighting.

It has been a while so here is an update.
Here is the powered armour platoon as it currently stands:
... and have put together a small speciallist unit for a bit of close combat:
At the moment, I am painting the rest of the ground based powered armour platoon:
and once it is finished, it will have all of the decals done so that they tie in with the standard foot troopers. Then it will be a case of continuing with the mechanised infantry.
