Sounds like you can come up with some nifty combinations if you buy two sets.
Not that I'm advocating that kind of thing.

Seriously though, getting a few people to go in together and buy two would be such a great, easy way to have some great tables. If I was in a situation in life where I could devote a lot of time, money, and effort into making my own tables, I definitely would before buying prefab stuff. Unless, it had a great price tag, of course. Which, this doesn't. But, a few buds to go in with would help take the sting out of that.

I wasn't so sure at first but now I think it seems like a cool idea.. but I think I would have rather seen them package the tiles separately, or at least allow you to mail order them in separate pieces. Like, maybe you just want to build a 4x4 board for smaller games? Or a bigger one if you usually play on 4x8? It would also be cool if they would definitely say if they have different tiles coming out later, but I guess they want to see how good the main set sells first.
For me I don't have anywhere to play in my house and I don't really have any other terrain, but after I finally sell my old place and move I'm planning to build a game room so something like this might come in handy. Even though I doubt I'll be hosting a lot of games at my house.. but you never know...

That exactly the thing I need. An easy to pack gaming board without the need to use any tools (which I don't own). Sadly, 175$ is too much for me...

Finally an excellent table investment for me and my brother.
I've got a feeling that the 230-ish quid price is for a xxx-mas special deal of sorts containing the six tiles, the craters, an Imperial city sector and a box of Black Reach, making for an excellent all-you-need starter set.

I am a big fan of terrain of all kinds and really like what I see here. I will probably buy two sets for base-level Apocolypse and await further tile releases. To me attractive terrain makes the game and sure I can make boards myself but storage is getting tight around the house so here's a great compromise. Cost doesn't bother me much as these are durable, long term items and with luck GW will support the product long enough to get some cool add ons.

Ok, now that is getting me interested. But I'll probably wait till those other options are released before I shell out for the modular table.

Sorry, am I the only one who thinks this looks crap? Especially at £100!!!
For £100 your could build a very nice table, modular or permanent, with much more detailed or optionable terrain and with much less obvious joints. That would require a modicum of effort though.

Seriously, if you're creative/practical enough to build/convert/paint minis, knocking up a decent standard terrain board shouldn't be that hard.
No doubt bud, especially with the works I've seen here alone I dont think most of us would buy it. You should see some of the homemade stuff we play on at bit kingdom on texture spray painted poster board, pretty awesome Ill have to post pics of it some time.

yeah,
I'll want 10 sections, 6 hill corners and 4 plains so i can mix it up more in 6x4 mode and then make the table extra big for the big games, carry bag to transport it where it's needed. So I guess i'll have to get this x 2, but thats ok cos it's x2 awesome.
I already have a good table (5'x4') but they take up space in the hall, the fact this breaks down in to a 2x2 pile is awesome.
£100 each is alot though, i felt the same don't buy it urge when the imperial city came out but that's turned out to be great value... whenever i manage to get around to splashing out on these will be anyones guess, but I can't wait.
I hope they do a city fight version with intersections pavements etc...... I was concidering buying that lazer-cut-wood urban roads set someone posted on here a while ago. but the postage from australia was way too much.

A hundred quid seems reasonable to me, that's around €125,-- if all goes well. If not, there's always a store where I can get a nice 10% discount on GW stuff. The 2' x 2' tiles are ideal for storage, something not at a premium here.
Are any dates known on when we can expect this to pop up for pre-order?

Are these prices pre or post GW price hike?
I always chuckle when I see some of you guys violently fight the urge to spend money. Let's analize what game we play......Initial cash drop to make army $250+, dice, paint, place to play. It is not a cheap hobby.
GW is attempting to make a funcational game table. It looks nice. If it's plastic and you can flock to your own flavor. That is a win.
I may have to hold off my CoD terrain project til this thing comes out.
I want to get 2, but may not on principle. I want snow for my Ultramarines and a desert for fighting Orks.

I guess we need to see how it goes together, in person, before making too many judgements about it.
I mean, the price is a huge sticking point - it's just ludicrous - but if it is of high quality, that might take some of the sting out of that shockingly abusive price tag.
