Thanks both.
Though like many it'd probably be good to mix the old ones through the current range as well at some point.

ooh, the colours are bright, and nice job with the runes!

No glow at that point, just the picture though it was bright probably because of the darkish skin it has.

They glow now though.

I'm also finding the pattern sort of fun to do in its simplicity, will have to use it on more later. The trick with it now is to not get too carried away with it.
Gems on the base are done, though it will be hard to get pictures of them I'll try for the completed pictures. As for the base I think I just need to add the flock and clean up the edges and it should be done, the painted area is to remain bare. It would get based the same as all the others, but with the rocky texture sculpted onto it, I feel it would look somewhat out of place and thus be better if I kept those parts bare. I'm considering adding gloss varnish to the inside of the mouth including the teeth as well. Definitely not the model entirely as it is already glossy enough from the washes and I think it generally looks crappy when done on a whole instead of in parts. The glow will also be extended to the statue it is holding.

a try of OSL... good lick with that mate!

and the teeth and mouth glossy would look very cool i think...

i am still torn between viewing the model with a scary feeling or afunny cute mix...

Good thing you replied, was working on it and had the feeling I had forgotten something. Turns out it was the glow on the statue.

I'm calling it done for now. Was lucky enough to even find some Devlin Miracle for the base. Bringing it to Codex Grey, Bleached Bone, Badab Black, Devil Mud and I think maybe Sepia.

The gloss sort of adds to the creepiness of it to me.

Also I think I've hit enough of a milestone with this to warrant another group shot of the entire army.

Starting to run out of space.
But it shows off the scale of them all I think.

Thanks Meade.

Worked on Henrietta (adopted the name in the end ) a bit after this update and figured I may as well add onto the update for today with what's probably one of the last WIP for it.

Though not much of a picture I was just glad the helmet went on well; though it isn't showing the gash to the left side of the helmet and the missing lens it has... I've also started working on a display base for it so there may actually be some sort of terrain pictures to go with this.

So far I can go with the rocks I usually use but so far I've cut the base and for once I'd like to try and make a backdrop to go with it. See if I can find a tree as well.

They're all starting to look the same.

This one has a few changes to it that are not obvious at first, well besides the purple being a bit better and there being slightly more of it. This one was done with a flesh wash then the usual purple, however rather than the usual white to highlight I used bleached bone instead. In the end it isn't even noticeable.

Fiend two had a little bit of a mishap, one of the tentacles vanished when I left them to cure a bit over night. However I think five sort of works out a bit for it. They're not in their final pose as I found with the Daemon Prince they're still bendable after curing has finished, though I suspect you'd have to be careful to avoid the GS breaking, it didn't seem to be an issue on the Prince. These are also probably the thickness I'll try to go with from now on, just using a single strand of wire, but not twisting it around itself as before.

Still got a while to go, but the tentacles this way saved a surprisingly decent amount of time and effort compared to the other one. The plan is to have this one's cloak slightly longer as well, possibly this will all allow it to have a slightly slimmer appearance than the first. Also the display board is "primed" and drying at the moment, not much to show as it's just a piece of foam with sand painted black glued onto it at the moment. It also makes me want to get some objective markers made for these. I'm thinking simply enough rune circles burning in the ground.

wow... that demon prince looks really creepy good mate! if i get nightmares soon staring him... i sue you then!

the army shot... well you doing a very good job here mate! ... when will this bunch see battle?

henrietta (COOL) looks very good... the newly added bone details and the threwn helmet looks great!

and the new find looks promising but i fear you have to do something about all these rather boring looking tentacles... all just facing upwards... nawww... too boring... but so early i hope for the best

Well a couple of days and left over green stuff from not one, but two sculpting sessions has lead to there now being three Fiends.

The first of the three is almost done. It may get some added decoration and the tips of the tentacles still need to be done. But, I think each squad can have a leaders so I suppose to save a headache later the leader can just have more and the sixth tentacle (maybe as five seems to be working to me). Either way they're going to stay thin and spindly for future fiends. I also have just enough of these gems to make, I think it was, four more fiends than allowable on the FOC; which allows 18 as is.

Also since I've been asked about the gems I figured I'd answer it here. Best thing to do is look at the left over Christmas decorations shortly after it. These come from an LED light ornament that I think was something like $12-$15 however afterwards it was something more closer to $2-3. They were basically attached by running a string (looked like fishing line) through a hole in each of them, with the end ones hot glued in place; looked sort of like a glowing snowball I guess.

Late Autumn at the moment, but like the rest of the year it just seems to jump around a bit.

hmmm... and how hot can it get there? ... i was always assuming you live quite in a warmer climate... tho i do know you are almost in the same terrain set as europe..isn“t it?

Well the year seems a little colder, but it seems to get around 30ish regularly enough in the summer. Dropping down to about 10ish at night during the winter. I expect it to be hotter more in land though.

... That Celsius. 30 degrees. What is that, 70? 80? As an American, I feel I am entitled to be too lazy to look it up and instead demand my Chinese sweatshop to research it for $0.005!

Superior Fahrenheit aside, I like the daemon prince with all the glowy runes, especially their inspiration. The fiends should shape up quite nicely with the cloaks too. In other words, this is some nice work.

Rose on Sister's bolter is rather noticeable, but still rather good. However, the metallic of the armour still comes in as too reflective, though that may just be from camera work. Your statement on that?

Pffft, everyone knows Kelvin is the only real temperature unit.

Besides saying it was 298.15 Kelvin (room temp) sounds a lot hotter!

Fiends are looking very nice, solid base for the cloak.

I guess when you put it in Kelvin 303k sounds pretty hot.

As for the armour, may have been the camera as most of the last shots of it there were screwing around with taking pictures. I have a picture of it completed, but it'll have to wait for after the contest is finished before I'll post it here.

Seems I skipped a step with these fiends (not doing it, but showing it). The tentacles in the last picture are glued onto the initial bulking, when it all cures another layer is added just towards the bottom where the tentacles join, like a belt of sorts, to smoothen the tentacle join points out a little more. Something I didn't do on fiend two which ended up being annoying to deal with.

In the picture they go 2, Avatar, 3, 1 and then 4. So far the fourth is my favourite.

However it did give fiend two the slight impression that there were more tentacles underneath the robe holding it more or less in place or waiting to burst through it to strike. More or less luck on that.

i can see why the fourth is your favorite... th cowl looks nice...nice flow there...

but the other two have some nice authentic looking bumps underneath their cloaks too...

Also some slight inspiration I figured I'd write down for later. As usual doesn't matter if I use it or not, it's there for later if I need it.

Perhaps flamers, seeing as they went Finecast.

Though I do already have three of the metal ones, but only one painted.

Worked on the tentacles a little, then got an idea for the one with the thinnest seeing as there wasn't much to be done to the tips that wouldn't make them get fatter.

So he got puppets, more or less trophies for it to taunt opponents with.

The lantern picture was in case I decide to get more of these later on, but want to bring them more in line with the general theme I have so far.

Would probably have to find marbles or perhaps more gems for the main body. Though they'll be pretty far off considering the rest of the army so far.

nice idea with those helmeted heads...always a good idea to taunt your enemies with their fallen when you are playing a chaos army!

and what mini is that supposed to be? never seen that one?

Flamer of Tzeentch. Not really supposed to have a form according to the background, but GW makes three models that look the same.

They warp around then shoot fire at stuff. That and if I remember correctly in the background their fire is sort of sentient and is always mocking everything around it like a little kid, if it annoys the daemon too much they just stomp on them.
