Ran out of ideas on how to fix up the prince so threw together the last Celestian for the SoB and finished the basic assembling of the model for the Dialogus. I suppose if no one can help point out anything else I can do with the DP I might start painting it.

Might add some iconograpy to it and start on the painting seeing as I didn't really intend to convert it too heavily. As it is it has had some cutting and filing to it that may not be all that noticeable. Anyway the way it worked out using this different backpack left me with a spare and seeing as I didn't really like the SoB model with the grenade in the mouth they ended up being the last two I had left.

However though they look identical they will both look entirely different by the time they are finished. One of them will be included in the army, but the other one is being painted for a cause. As some may know this month is Cystic Fibrosis awareness month and to raise awareness to it Koridon has created a sort of competition in which we paint an infantry model from any game; but it has to include purple, gold and a rose somewhere. More information can be found at his thread here including ways to donate to the CFF if you wish.

Got the base colours down for the CF SoB, think it needs a name to make it easier to mention.
Based the gold with Tin Bitz followed by Dwarf Bronze, also at the best point to do the purple as it'll be easier to fix any mistakes. The purple is just liche purple mixed with a touch of white, then a touch more for each successive highlight. May need to remember it and apply it back to the Daemonette claws more.

The plan is to wash the purple a little, but the bronze will get a light layer of silver before being washed back to gold with sepia, getting it's highlights then darkened a touch more.
In the end it should come out something like this.

As for the hair I may go for either a brown or a blonde, like this one a bit.

Either way the important thing is I'm having fun with it a bit, generally what I like to aim for when I go into contests. End result never matters, just that it was fun getting to it. The Daemon Prince is also now primed and should be seeing that move along soonish as well. One day it may be retired though, but like most of them that do that I find interesting it'd find it's way to the shelf and hang out with the Avatar, Wraithlord, crashed Crisis Suit, Marianna and Inquisitor. Even then I may start VC some day and Marianna can move off the shelf for once and get used in a game.

i recently got me a bottle of the new warplock thingummy...the new old tinbitz... didn´t knew it was such a dark metal color... for my own needs i am very unsure... but on your SoB it looks very interesting! and the blonde looks rather cool! if i may say so^^

Thanks both of you and welcome to the madness I think Squig.

Did a fair bit of work on this today, mostly when it comes to blending I tend to get carried away and keep going as it's easier than starting and stopping.
I think there's the highlights left on it at least, on the paper and bone most noticeably. I'm also contemplating putting a SoB helmet onto the base before I finish it off; like she just threw it on the ground or something. Being a bit of a challenge as it's been a while since I've done this much metallics on a model, usually it's more of a spot colour to me. But, given the palette for it I think this was the right way to go as gold robes may have looked odd. The gold does have its highlights though they seem pretty invisible so I'll have to redo them. The back of the knees maybe I'll make a black to break up the gold a little.

One of the main things I have to do is figure out how to take better pictures of it so I can zoom right in on the rose and face to see any faults. Also I guess think of a name for it. Any suggestions on either?

the only nitpick i currently have about her is a bit the deadlooking skin of her face... other than that i think she looks very good... the skeleton might need a bit of work still but the cloth looks very good...the highlights are top notch good sir! ^^

naming her...for some reason henrietta just popped up in my mind after reading that question of yours... tho i couldn´t for the love of it say why^^

oh... just after some confusiopn realized the rose on the bolter...cool!!! and yes you definatly need to make better pics... that is a really downfall with this classy painting you do... the pics do your work no justice at all... i think your main issue here is the light... try to get daylight pics... that helps aplenty to make better pics... and we get a feel for the real colors...

Not a painting update really today, but was messing around with the pictures seeing if I could get anything better and I couldn't really with that camera. So I borrowed my Dad's one and it was much better so far, but I do need to improve the lighting still somehow.

This brightness with the auto adjust feature of the gallery is the level I want to get it to as it looks the same as it does in person mostly, however I find the feature seems to degrade the picture a bit.

Without it though the light level is unfortunately closer to this.

Need to find a lamp I suppose and fix it up a bit more. At least the highlights are visible with this camera.

Edit: Got one outside more or less the same.

Didn't really have anything set up for it, just a sketch book I use occasionally. Probably would work out better if I had something more stable to take the picture with, but it's already late afternoon so the light will start to degrade. I think the best thing would just be to make the lighting better for where I usually take the pictures, a lamp or something to add more level lighting to it I suppose. Of course being a new camera I know nothing about can't be helping either so I'll try the one I'm used to using tomorrow then compare the results.

Edit 2: Usual camera, however brightened the area a little with an LED torch I have.

Still a little dark so I suppose it is either too weak or too far away to have much of an impact on it. But, all this leaves is the sunlight picture for tomorrow with the usual camera. Sort of an interesting to experiment around with it. With the usual camera its lens isn't as good as the other camera which is probably worth two of it, however the difference is the usual has 10.2mp while the newer one has 6. Seems to make a difference for pictures on this scale even though the 6 takes better pictures everywhere else than the 10.2 does and can zoom and get the same quality by at least twice the amount allowing pictures of birds mid flight.

well those pics are certainly a step above your usual pics.... way better to see those details!...which brings me to the nitpick section of my comment

the crotch area looks as if it needs some more work...the loincloth needs more purple between the legs...
the right wing on the backpack has some errors too in the metalworks... tho it is still hard to see...

and will she get a bit of more detail around the chest area? the inq- bling chain looks a bit too much goldish atm...

and maybe... but i know that this might not be doable...the rose could do with some thin lines to better define it? i know that is totally tiny...but it was just a thought^^

You say nitpick I say to do list.

It took half an hour but I added it to the leaf and stem before I took the first pictures of it so I'm hoping I can pull it off for the rose. Looks too much like a pink blob without it.

I'm thinking for the =][=, skull bone coloured and chain probably silver or something. These rivets, maybe silver as well not sure.

Have to be careful cause somehow while doing the hair I got the colour of the armour to sort of reflect in it. Which is going to be a pain to fix considering it is just bestial brown, snakebite leather and various mixes of snakebite with white.

Also what do you think about adding a helmet to the base? Once I hollow it out I can put it on a stick until I finish painting it. Perhaps some battle damage, because who would just throw away a perfectly good helmet; besides Space Marine Sergeants of course.

welll she has sure a reason to throw her helmet to the ground... remember...she is pulling rhe ring of the holy hand grenade... so there is a need for a free face^^... but i think a bit of battle damage on the thing is always a nice eyecatcher!

your reaction to my list ^^ sounds rather good^^...

The fact that it's my least favourite of the SoB sculpts just means I have to try that much harder to make it look somewhat good.

Thanks Matt.

Continuing with the fact that this Daemon Prince is based loosely off Nyarlathotep (a fun word to spell and one I just managed to spell without needing to check it... unlike "equivalent" most of the time...) each update based around it has to include something about it a little, so expect a lot of crawling to come along with it.

Got the base colours down and did the first wash of purple over the grey.

The teeth sort of surprised me as I only really started to like them after I got the paint on them and noticed them at all, before that they were simply annoyingly small pieces of wire that I hated trying to get to sit in place.

I'm thinking to liven the model up a bit when painting is done I think I'll add more Daemon runes to it, either glowing, tatoos or a mix I haven't decided on yet. Like Iluni I'll probably grab some phrase I like the sound of then try to make it fit phonically with the Daemon alphabet; which I need to find again...

Can't be as bad as the incident in your sig sounds.

Edit: Also looks like the Daemons made it on the front page again, makes me proud of the army.

Continuing on the Daemon Prince, got to the point where I mixed the pink I needed for the SoB rose so I wouldn't end up wasting a bunch of paint for a tiny flower, hopefully it is noticeable.

Tried to get a nice close up of it to try and show it, I also painted all the rivets on the armour (except the few that appear didn't feel like holding the paint or it had dried up too much at the time which I'll have to go over later). Screwed up a bit on the left shoulder pad, but thankfully that seemed to be the only place to fix up any slip ups from the rivet painting. I'm also contemplating trying to sculpt some roses for the base, tutorials I have found so far for ones in scale are made of paper though which I'd rather avoid.

seeing your demon prince now it seems as if you are into a certain hue like me... i always go for red and some brownish hues and you are more into the blue and purple schemes...

the sister looks rather good... tho it gets way harder to see exactly WHAT you did this time... tho the rose now looks way better with that lil added detail!

one thing tho to the demon prince...in his "groin" area there seems to be some GS errors... not smoothed down on some spots... with the washes and the drybrush this shows up way too strongly... is there a way you gould mend this?

and somehow i liked your last avatar better... the composition of this here has less je ne sais quoi...

Had noticed it during painting, not sure how I could fix it. Perhaps just paint something near it to distract from it and play it off as an intended detail.

For the runes it has been hinted that I should try to get this to fit in somehow.
(」・ω・)」uuu!(/・ω・)/ nya!

For the sister I am running out of things to do on it, short of go insane and paint hundreds of roses in gold on the armour...
Something like this.

Which of course comes back to my crappy photos again.

Maybe I'll just go for a couple coloured ones here and there like the right knee and maybe on the back pack just below the rib cage. Also I just remembered the helmet which I could fit it on as well, perhaps I won't have to put any on the base as it would be too cluttered with these painted ones instead. If I had the skill I might have made the grenade into one...

hmmm... i woould make them only on the cloth parts... and funny that you choose this stylized rose... it is a german city icon^^

Started adding the runes and some tattoos to the Daemon Prince. Not too sure about the Slaanesh symbol on it, but the pink symbols will be glowing when I'm done and will slightly obscure the purple tattoo around the emblem when done.

Once again they're neater than my actual writing in English.
I may spread the purple tattoo further, but stopped at this point to get a better look at it first seeing as it would be easier to fix if it didn't take up the majority of the torso. The head may get a similar pattern as well, but the face area will remain blank.

the rune work looks rather cool... it allways marvels me (?) how you can make those paints looks so bright....

also...with that tats you did on the tummy (^^) i think you pretty much solved the GS issue i mentioned earlier good work mate!

and will you spill the beans as to what the runes will say?

Simply enough they are just alternating this
(」・ω・)」uuu!

and this
(/・ω・)/ nya!

with the one on the top of the head being
(/・ω・)/ lets nya!

with the letters turned to the Chaos ones.

It's part of a show where they basically did this.

Basically it was suggested and I couldn't think of anything else. Added with no one can really read it so it just needs to look interesting doesn't need to make sense.

I have no idea what's been occuring in the past couple of pages here....

Your daemonettes are bloody great though. Everytime I load up your page I feel really tempted to buy a box to roll with my Emperor's Children. You've done the purple really well, lovely soft effect, almost alluring... Ahaha!
