I've been at the Silver Sorcerer Dakkadakka
40k Tournament this weekend in Warhammer World, Nottingham. A great time was had by all - it was a 1000pt 4-round tournament organised by Chimera_Calvin on the Saturday, then free gaming on the Sunday. I didn't have a lot of time to practice or finish an army for this one, so I took my Daemons along, since they're relatively recent and don't get the change to kill anything other than Marines usually....
* Keeper of Secrets (Soporific Musk, Transfixing Gaze)
* Keeper of Secrets (Soporific Musk)
* 6 Fiends (1 Unholy Might)
* 6 Seekers (1 Tranfixing Gaze)
* 6 Daemonettes
* 12 Daemonettes
I even made up some special Objective markers, as requested by the mission pack!

SATURDAY
Game 1 - Albatross's Orks
First game was against Albatross and his fantastically checked shirt. The mission was to get your units into your opponents' deployment zone. We were both warming up a bit through this game, trying to remember how to play Warhammer and only made it to turn three! Lots of silly mistakes were made - I forgot that Orks could assault out of their Trukks and only scraped a victory by running a Keeper into the deployment zone as the '10mins left' call was heard!
I won 13BP to 7BP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game 2 - IanSturrock's Ravenwing
Second game was against IanSturrock and his fantastically tattooed head. Simple objective game with a side mission of killing the commander. Ian had a Ravenwing army, and we played a long game, both staying quite far apart. He took potshots and managed to whittle down some squads, but had to come close in the end to try and get the objectives. The very late arrival of my Keepers resulted in late-game assassination attempt on Sammael, but in the end it wasn't to be, and again I scraped the minor victory by holding one objective and contesting all the others.
I won 12BP to 8BP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game 3 - Croggy's Imperial Guard
Third game was against Croggy's Imperial Guard. The mission was to capture each others' base, with a special rule that meant the base was dangerous terrain for your enemy. Croggy castled up his 30man Guard squad around his base, with some outriding units going for mine. I went straight for his base, after the fiends made short work of the outriders, but he wasn't helped by the mission, which stated that only certain squads could be deployed, meaning that his Valkyries and Manticore turned up quite late. In the end, I managed to get both Keepers into his base to attack his Command Squad and take the objective, but they both perished to multiple Dangerous terrain tests (one helped along by some late game fire from the Valkyries). It was only AFTER the game that Yiawchuah pointed out that the Keepers should have been taking invulnerable saves against the Dangerous Terrain! Oh no! Thing could have been very different, bu in the end I lost this one...
Croggy won 12BP to 8BP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game 4 - Mercer's Orks
The last game was against Mercer's Ork army - variant kill point mission, with a central objective, but my camera had run out so I have no photos of it! And if I have no photos of it, I can't remember what happened! Except that I got another minor victory against the Ork horde...
I won 12BP to 8BP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, in the end, fun was had by all, all the games were fun and the people I played were great, and I got a respectable placing of sixth on Battle Points and fifth overall, with top marks for Sportsmanship (which was nice). If only I'd remembered those invulnerable saves....
We ended the evening with a doubles game - Panic and Arakasi playing Orks against Endtransmission and me as Traitors. I'd been to visit
WW before, but never played there, and hadn't quite grasped the effect having a pub next door and being allowed to take beer into the hall would have in the game. It was all a bit drunken, my camera had run out, I took 5 monstrous creatures in 1000pts, and we were thoroughly and completely beaten.
Sunday, however, was open for free gaming, so I was determined to get some decent size games in.

SUNDAY
Game 1 - BattlecannonitPhil's Imperial Guard
So the first game on Sunday was 1500pts against Phil's fantastically painted Mordian army. Annihilation and Table Quarters for the mission. He took a 50man blob and castled them in the corner, supported by a Demolisher and some Veteran squads and Ogryns.
I got the wrong half of the army and came down FAR AWAY, hoping to do a mass rush later on.
And by turn three I'd finally got enough units to get into combat, the Fiends and Keeper teaming up on the Ogryns and then following into the Veterans while the Daemonettes advanced across the board, being whittled down by massed fire.
In the end, I was winning on
KPs, so pulled back to the other corner to restrict my losses, but not before Phil had the entire blob turn and rapid fire on an encroaching Daemon Prince - 102 lasgun shots there, five wounds scored....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game 2 - NotProp's Imperial Guard
Next up was 1000pts against notprop's guard - we played using our armies from the day before, which included his fantastic Griffon conversions.
We played Seize Ground with Table Quarters and just to be surprising I ignored my quarter, risked the table edge, and turned up right next to him!
The close city terrain allowed me to jump through his units in
CC, and won me the game.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game 3 - IanSturrock's Dark Angels
I then played a rematch against Ian's
DA army - this time Kill Points at 1250 and he took Sammael and Belial for a real 'wing' army. Sammael was taken out by a lucky Soulgrinder shot late in the game, but my reserve rolls were quite good (apart from a mishapping Daemonette squad) and I managed to get a lot of things into combat quickly and Hit and Run from one thing to the next for the rest of the game. Very close to a massacre, he only had one pesky LandSpeeder and an empty Rhino left at the end.
So yes, two fantastic days of gaming, and nice to put some names to faces. By sunday night I was thoroughly Warhammered out. Time to play something that isn't Daemonny for a while....
