These are some of my conversions, I hope you enjoy. I don't have these hosted anywhere, so not sure how to img ref them instead of just attaching them, if someone could PM me that'd be great. Till then, each pic has its own details to describe it. If there are any questions, just ask and say "how did you do X on pic number Y".

First two are what I use for my Tyranid prime. I wanted him to have elephant/ tentacleface, so... Its a 1ed Tyrant body with the tail cut off and stuck to the face. then other tentacly things got added, 2 warrior tails, ripper tails, and two shortened warrior tail "tusks". The elephant that never forgets... to kill!

The genestealer is taken from Lars' idea, and was the only one I made for my genestealers with feeder tentacles. Long story short, I stopped playing in 3e, and then this Jan started back up, and built a bad ass 4E tyranid army, feeder tendrils and preferred enemy everywhere. Well... my first game was very disappointing. but the Genestealer was not!

Four and five are a converted red terror, with big warrior talons. When I add wings, its a flying hive tyrant. Or its a Prime with boneswords/ ST without them. in any event, I like how the lower two talons are held forklift style. I also like the snakelike bodies for tyranids. I use ravener models for my warriors with boneswords/lashwhips and say the tails are lash whips. Just because I like the way the model looks over the goat leg things. This model is no exception to that, and I like how thin it is. looks hungry.

The next two after that are my "warrior with venom cannon/barbed strangler". Sometimes I want one of these, a warrior with a big gun. This is the model I use when I have one of those in my list. It sometimes does duty as a "Baby T-fex", and the small set in face helps with that. Basically just added another pair of legs to a warrior body and strapped 3 barrels together.

Deathleaper is next, old lictor and zoanthrope claws, using the claws to stilt walk/swing away covering vital areas with the claws.

Lastly, Ripper Thanksgiving. There were no leftovers.

My cthulu face Tyranid prime. I like the way the warrior tail hip nubs form the eyes.

[Thumb - IMG_0760.JPG]
Back view, better to see the two main blade positioning.

[Thumb - IMG_0781.JPG]
Stole this idea, but the half ripper looks too much like a face not to.

[Thumb - IMG_0770.JPG]
Also, my stovetop.

[Thumb - IMG_0771.JPG]
Side view really conveys the idea of the stabbyness.

Big gun warrior

Almost looks like a hood.

Deathleaper says "not in the face or nuts!"

Current favorite: ripper thanksgiving.

from what I can see, the conversion work looks good. Some of the pics are a little hard to follow. I would love to see some painted pics of this stuff though!

1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress

Thats two of us then. Quick check to the wife to see if I have time... No. She's shaking her head no.

Most of my painting actually gets done at the expense of my game time. I'd love to see it painted, I really would. Pics when I can. But in the meantime, I'd much rather be playing.
Converting though, that can happen at the FLGS, during a game even if its just chopping stuff apart with clippers. Tact is sometimes hard, because most of my "conversions" are mutilating a minor model from my opponents army that I trade for, and making it a ripper base/army specific trophy. If the person has models to spare, I usually try and trade for one model that has their army's main paint scheme.
It helps to tell them this beforehand, so i don't just say "thanks!" and start hacking away while they watch, horrified.

And you're a Texas transplant from WA too. Nice.

Nice stuff there Doomthumbs!

Nice to see that someone else is also using the really old models. Personally I might turn my old tyrant models into primes.

Funny to see you liked my elephant stealer face, haha! I think you managed to make it even more elephant-ish than me.

I also like the hooded creep. It reminds me of a fish I don't know the English word for. It's like it could snap anytime and jump out to bite! Hehe.

My favourite is however the feast. Rippers resembling gremlins (for us old folk who lived back then), they have the sneaky, up-to-no-good, grinning face that allow for many funny ideas.

Good work!

Thanks, Lars. I gave you credit in the original post on an edit, thanks again for an awesome idea. All I did was add the garg tail because "hey, it DOES look like an elephant! cool!".

Oh man, I know what gremlins are. That makes me old, huh?
I knew it. Only a matter of time.

Thanks for your comments!

I like the 'hooded' look a lot, I'm not a big fan of the boring standard nid heads and have been investigating various options like this. Wonder if I can do it for gaunts too...

Harder for gaunts, i think. It works on the warrior because there is a concave hole there. On gaunts, the head has the hole, and the neck piece has a nub that you put into the head hole. It would be difficult, but i'll try that to see what it looks like.

I'll elaborate the best I can, but for the most part thats intentional. I like mixing and matching parts from different model designs, because I like having models that no one else does.
Which parts confuse you?
