So presumably no codex until what, July at this rate??
Big guns and Mek are available for purchase on the 24th, which is presumably when the Weirdboyz will go on pre-order. Absolutely NO mention of a codex yet.
Call me disappointed.

Wow, thats really expensive for one of those mek gunz.
The bubble Chukka is awful because it's not barrage.
However, if lobbaz remain str 5 with barrage, at 18 points a gun, they are going to be a HILARIOUS steal. Ork artillery lists are going to become utter nightmares to anyone not hiding in a vehicle.
Basically you would get 5 STR 5 barrages in a unit that has 30 T7 wounds for 120 points. Thats amazingly good for holding back field for utterly no cost.

Bubble gun seems terrible... Have to do the math and see the point costs...
Interested in seeing the 'sprue' design to see how modular the guns will be and the magnetizing options.

According to Grot Orderly: "Dex is definitely in issue 21, to be sold on 28th with issue 22."
The crazy gw pricing continues, as in canada, the mek gun is les expensive than in australia, while the mek with the sag is more expensive in canadan than in oz. What kind of weirdassmf do the foreign pricing for GW? There doesnt seem to be any logic behing these prices.
The price of the big mek is brutal, 44$ for a single character with no customization, ridiculous

They have been stretching this one out, but they're also giving us the rules for all the new kits until we get our codex. They wouldn't have made a new banner for the site unless they were going to give us a bunch of new stuff. So far I'd say they have, and there's more to come as well, so it isn't too bad. If GW had given us everything in 4 weeks, it probably would have been extremely overwhelming wouldn't it? We'd be discussing how crap all the units are instead of having time to figure out how these work or to playtest the rules.
Looking on the plus side: next issue looks to be Weirdboyz and possibly that new Dok, so we'll finally be able to see if Perfect Organism is right about Painboyz being IC's that can administer FNP to a unit.
Adding a mega-armoured character to a guns battery gives the whole unit slow and purposefull now? Where did you find that? Is that some sort of wording abuse? How's that supposed to work? the MAC tows 5 cannons or what?

From what I can imagine and gather:
- a battle report would imply that the new rules are released
- weirdboy would imply we finally hear more about the psychic/waaagh ork system
- 'urty sringes would be the model we heard about from the initial rumor
Love the models but £28 each is as much as a whole kan squad. Eldar platforms are half that price. There may be more bits but that's a disgrace!!!! I've paid for gitz and naut, cant bring myself to pay that. Sorry for the rant but forgeworld is looking cheap!!! Big zzaps, grot tanks and lifta droppa wagon is comparatively tempting

Today I got a bit of news for you that you will drop your pants down. This time my little Grot didn't take any photos, just used his big brain to memorize stuff, so... him being a Grot, take it with a pinch of salt, but knowing how close we are to the release: don't take too much. Anyhow, this weekend (13th June) we will see a new model of Big Mek model (as I wrote couple posts below) with Shokk Attack Gun. The model will be 100% plastic and will cost us 20 pounds / 35 dollars. Additionally we will get a new artillery unit. A Ork Mek Gun with six Gretchin crew. From the parts in the box we will be able to make Smasha Gun, Traktor Kannon, Bubble Chukka, Mega-Kannon. We don't know anything more about it, but I can guess this will swap the old artillery kits. Price: 25 pounds / 38 dollars.
Remember, you heard it first here! And all hail the Grot who brought the news!
I have hard time believing that GW would fully phase out the old Big Guns by giving them whole new weapons. Though maybe it's going to be a dual kit Big Gunz / Mek Gunz
I really hope we get some effective rules and respectable ranges with these new guns. I miss the days when I could field my Looted Basilisk and tear all opponents a new one.

agree ... most expensive piece of artillery on FW is at £22 (the Flakk Gun)
however, those don't come with extra bits, also come with less crew members, and are not 1 little conversion away from warbuggies

Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men. Welcome to Fantasy 40k
If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.
Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

Pretty much wording abuse, based on the S&P rules. The original rules were written to force the entire unit to move slowly even if only one member had S&P. They ended up giving all the advantages of S&P too. Basically just GW not thinking things through. It makes no sense at all and is a total 'that guy' tactic, but if you're fielding a death star unit, you're already 'that guy' and it's a pretty mild example compared to 2+ re-rollable invulnerable saves.
Also, I just realised, orks got a gun which is based around smashing it's target into the ground. But it doesn't have Strikedown, Graviton or even Pinning. Why does everyone seem to get Soul Blaze while those rules are rare as hen's teeth?
At D6+3 the bubble gun might have been worth considering... but as is, it's a cool idea that will never see any table time due to being next to useless most of the time.

Regardless, Killa Kans won't go to fast attack, they aren't exactly speedy.
Killa Kans are/were already Fast Attack as per the Dread Mob rules in Imperial Armour 8.
yeah, sure... but the imperial armor series are forge world books, not gw, and therefore supplemental rules. which means the current codex overrules them until gw publishes a book demonstrating otherwise. so they are heavy support, and not fast attack.
and i'd rather the big mek gain the ability to take kanz as a troops choice, like they can with dreads.
FW is GW. It's the same company. Everything FW makes is a GW product. I can post proof in the form of pics from the current FW catalogue, but to summarize, it states quite clearly that FW is GW.
no proof necessary.
it's a subsidiary. i am aware of forge world's position and function, dealing more online than in stores. ever notice that your local gw doesn't stock a lot of fw product, or that it wasn't until relatively recently that resin miniatures were available from gw/citadel directly?

Just buy the gun bits off ebay and scratchbuild/kitbash the chassis
Or alternatively GW could just sell them for a reasonable price to begin with. Better for everyone involved, even GW in the long run, since I can't imagine they'll sell enough of those things at fething $46 a pop to make it worth producing the kit at all.

Kannons and lobbas seem so good now. The Smash gun also seems awesome, but if theu are individually sold I will not be buying them. Break out the plasticard!!
I always press dat, if you know what I mean.

Dakkamite wrote: I honestly can't even comprehend buying the guns instead of building them from bits.
With d6 weapons, are we rolling once per gun or once per battery? Because I think its per gun, meaning those random weapons are more reliable.
1. buying any guns at all? or buying 1 and then having fun building 2-3 more with the bits in the box and other stuff?
2. good point!
if you have 5 BubbleChukka in a unit, that could average out the luck ... but if any Bubble Chukka is bad (having looked at the maths), having 5 of them does not help
the bublechukka doesn't compare favourably with Forgeworld's big lobba.
The big lobba has:
- better range
- Always ST6
- better average AP which means it's as good or better half the time and worse half the time. However anytime you hit an Armour save 3+ or better you are probably hitting Toughness 4+ so the low ST of the bublechukka is invalidating that benefit.
- barrage and ordnance.
The big lobba in a big trakk (so AV12, ability to move, 2 free big shoota) cost just over 2 chukkas, but I am not convinced 2 chukkas can deliver better firepower than the BL.

-2 points for Kannon (-%10)
-7 points for Lobba (-%28)
-7 points for Zzap (-%16)
Basically, the bubble Chukka is an okay weapon if you roll 3 or more. I don't mind S3 AP3 because the AP value more than makes up for the low strength. S5 is lobba performance and 6 is wounding T4 on 2+
Basically, it's a fair weapon, not horrible.
It will fly under the radar IMO
Result table =
1- Kills infantry on a 6, ignores armour
2 - Kills T4 infantry on a 6, T3 on 5, ignores armour.,
3 - ignores 3+ armour, wounds T4 on a 5, wounds T3 on a 4.
4 - ignores 4+ armour. wounds T4 on a 4, wounds T3 on a 3
5 - Same as Lobba
6 - Generally wounds infantry on 2+
People are underestimating it.
Smasha Gun AP1 = win. You just need to roll 4,5,6 for anti armour performance.
