Hey this is a place where you can check out on the Red Skinz Ork Project i have undertaken. My friend plays Orks and has encouraged me to get into them, however as much as i love the green skinned orks i just felt like having a bit of a change! Comment and Critique appreciated and ideas for expanding the fluff of these Red Skinz would be muchly appreciated.

You know, I'm not exactly sure if I know any fluff about Orks having different colored skin, but I have to say that I think it looks pretty cool. If anyone ever questioned your logic of red skin you could always say it's warpaint!

Maybe they originate from a world where the soil, filled with contaminates and radiation mutated the fungus they spawned from, causing a change in skin pigment.

That or they are Khorne Ork Mutants.

maybe they came from a world near the eye of terror and the warp turned their skin red, also they could have purple eyes if they lived near the eye of terror

Yeh these are all ideas i am thinking up! I was thinking different type of soil that makes em red!

Whilst i am aware that they are not true to fluff, i like painting them this way!!

Nice! I took a bit of a strange turn a couple of years ago and painted up an entire trollkin force with red skin and a pink albino Madrak.

One things for the sure.. the bigger you go with them the more impressive the red skin becomes. Your warbosses and nobs in particular will look amazing. To add a little variation you might want to follow the orky fluff and make the bigger ones dark the bigger they get. The tone change is a lot more noticable in red.

These orks must just be closer to Gork, or Mork than most others.

Warboss looks beast!! I'm loving the affect your washes have on the overall look. How are you going to base them?

I reckon Red Orks are FTW, it'll be easy to distinguish your horde in a game of apocalypse also.

I reckon this will make a great army, really unique looking and not too hard to paint - perfect for orks!

On the boss and test arms i have used scab red i think off the top of my head, the standard boys will be done in a mix of mechrite red and bleached bone as the base, and then washed with devlan mud and then highlighted on top! All very up in the air and open to suggestions!

Though, from a modeller's point of view, painting minis still on sprues is a blasphemy! How do you do with the mould lines & moulding struts?

@ Yggdrasil, they were on the sprue for test purposes only! I assure you the full army would not all be painted on the sprue! that'd be crazy!

Awesome idea! I love red orks! I've often thought about painting some of my orks red, but didn't because it's unorthodox. Eh screw it, I'll make my grots red.

I read a black library book called Gunheads, and the orks they fought were red because the red sand on that particular planet was so fine it could get in to a mans skin and kill him, but because orkz iz tuff, it just got in to their skin and changed its colour.

Just an idea for you!

I also painted my orks red. I used blood red on top of red gore for a lighter tone. I painted the eyes orange, got the idea from Warcraft 3. Are you going to put on war paint for clan? Deff skulls with the blue contrasts nice.

I've been thinking about doing a redskin ork army for a while now. Awesome to see someone have the same idea and make it look so cool. Makes me really want to get going on it.
